Great hike but found it kind of long. It starts out at an easy grade and is very beautiful with brooks and waterfalls. The last 1.7 miles is steep and seems to take forever, but there are some views on the way, a cool hut, more views above the hut. The hike from here to the summit is easy. The summit is wooded but cool, we enjoyed this hike and would do again.

I did this as a two-day backpacking trip with an overnight at Unknown Pond in early July. I went up Bunnell Notch and down Mill Brook Trail. Going up the trail was moderately difficult and well-maintained. From Unknown Pond out, however, the trail was in only fair condition with many blow downs and waist-high vegetation. The trail does not offer much scenery; the side trip to Roger’s Ledge offered the best (180-degree) views by far. The little pond a couple miles east of Unknown Pond was a wonderful surprise. With the sun rising and all the birds in top voice, that was what I came to find.

Enjoyed this hike. First 3.2 miles have an easy grade with good footing. The trail follows a creek/stream which helped keep us cool on a particularly hot day. The last 1.5ish increases in grade and become more rocky, but never difficult. The view from Bunnell Rock was gorgeous. The actual summit has no views, but just before it are views to both the east and west. The cabin was cool to see as well.

great first backpacking expirence with my dog! bunell notch trail to kilkenny ridge summiting cabot, bulge & the horn. fair amount of friendly people until you get beyond cabot, views at the horn were great. camped at unknown pond tentsite then carried on to rogers ledge first thing in the morning with great views, which was the trip highlight! there's a decent amount of blown downs but they're easy to navigate & the mud isn't too bad. finished with mill brook trail which was luscious with growth & signs of moose. kilback pond was another gem to the trip. & the fish hatchery on the way back to the car was a nice end to an amazing adventure. 10/10

A lovely late winter hike! You can park on York Pond Road with no worries about the gate, as of yet, this late in the year. Our ascent was pretty slow with snowshoes, but coming down was easy. Trail is well packed as of this weekend, snowshoes still required.

Relatively easy but long 4000 footer with no view at the top. Wouldn't do it again unless you are trying to bag the NH 4000 footers!

Fairly average hike. It was very warm and humid. Great view at Bunnell Rock which makes up for the lack of views at the summit. I didn't make the loop over the Bulge and Horn. The 1st mile is level but overgrown, I collected quite a few things walking through (slugs etc) got them off and put them back. Cabin was neat stopped on the way up and the way back.

Climbed this doing the 48. Hike was pretty straight foward. Nice view of ledge on route up. Cabin made for good lunch spot. Summit wooded. looped the trail by headung to the Bulge tjen the Horn. Great views of Horn. Then headed down to Unknown pond and followed trail back. Dont see myself doing this again but good workout and 1 more 4k off the list

Did a two-day of this loop from 5/27 to 5/28. Camped at Unknown Pond and then proceeded to The Horn/The Bulge/Mt Cabot on day 2. Trail maintenance hasn't started yet, so there were some spots, especially on Mt Cabot, where we had to do a little scrambling, but nothing impassible. Some watery/muddy spots on the lower trails and by water, but again, nothing impossible. Really nice loop hike, and quieter than what you might find in the Presidentials.

Found the terrain very good and entertaining. Lots of dips and turns, but not tough terrain until we got to the part where we could not follow the trail due to snow and not being broken out. followed another set of tracks up over the cliffs but did rejoin the main trail and eventually the summit. a very good hike overall.

Pretty good terrain, we did the longer part first which was about 8 miles and tented out and then did the last 3 miles out the following day

Great area! The hike up to Unknown Pond, over to The Horn & Mt. Cabot is a great trip, especially if one wants to get away from some of the crowds!
