I didn't even know this trail existed until today! It's mostly paved but even the paved trail had plenty of little trails branching off to get closer views of the river and ponds. Fun little foot bridges and clean park. Also, at the very beginning, there's a walk under the overpass which is dark and kind of creepy but there were so many friendly bike cops around I felt confident that if I were attacked by a lunatic I would, if not be saved by a cop, found or at least avenged swiftly!

Good Win/Spring day for a walk

Nice and easy walk. I have run into off leash dogs when walking my lab but owners are usually quick to remedy.

I wouldn’t rate it as “easy,” although it is fairly short. The view at the top is very nice, especially considering the effort required to reach it. Square Ledge has a large drop, so be careful if you have children or a fear of heights.

I’m it sure why it’s reviewed as moderate. It’s a nice walking trail with barely any noticeable incline. Really great for walking dogs, biking, and walking along Mascoma Lake in Enfield. Very easy and simple.

Very easy stroll through the woods, by the Merrimac River and along a stream. Enjoyable.

Nice to walk and jog

Couldn't find parking or the trail. We drove around for 20 minutes looking.

Easy trail, high traffic..great for dog walkers with a leash. A mile loop. Nice path for runners and bikes.

Nice, quiet trail. I only saw one other person the entire time. Beautiful viewpoint as you are coming down the trail.

Nice hard packed trail relatively smooth ride. Elevation gain is very gradual and almost unnoticeable on the way out of Lebanon to peak near Canaan. Easy to carry speed in the return trip. Scenery made the ride rewarding.

Rode the trail from where it crosses Pine St. in West Swanzy north to Keen, just about 6 miles each way.

The trail surface is very good; crushed gravel. The only inconvenience is the occasional chipmunk hole. For some reason they are digging holes in the middle of the trail :-).

The scenery is nice, but nothing special for the region. There are a few views of the Ashuelot River on bridge crossings.

There is a new bridge for the trail that takes you over Rt. 101/12, so there is no longer difficulty with that crossing as noted in an earlier post.

All in all an enjoyable ride.

Perfect for trail running and even mountain biking. Fast trails without any incline. Easy to get around, everything interconnects.

Great sandy beach areas along the river were great for the kids to play and picnic on

Cute Little Trail, Great To Walk Your Dogs. Nothing spectacular tho.

This trail is not what I would consider an "easy" hike. Pinkham Notch labeled this trail as intermediate. It is pretty easy going until you get to the rocks. There were points when my husband and I were climbing up on all fours! (very doable, just be careful!) It is one of the most spectacular views around! Like others have said, it is not well marked. You want to enter where you see the sign for Lost Pond Trail, but you want to go straight (to Lady's Lookout, not right to the actual Lost Pond trail.) There is a sign for Lady's Lookout when you enter the trail, and a handwritten paper sign on the other side for Square Ledge that is hard to see if you don't know it's there!) You will pass Lady's Lookout on the way up, and it's worth a stop! Happy Trails!

was much better years ago before they cut down all the trees. I liked the forest look and feel much better. more of a nature walk.
