Incredibly difficult. Didn’t think I was going to make it a few times. A lot of climbing up rocks and such. But the views were so incredibly worth it!! I would do it again. When I recover. Lol

Trail is not marked well and pretty steep towards the end. Beautiful though.

Went hiking blind to be honest with Krissy Andrews and we were both stunned how hard it was. Will say it was hot, humid and raining and very steep but we pushed on. The reward was so worth it but with the weather it spoiled the view but not the satisfaction. It was such a great experience. We had a blast. The descent was slippery but overall was the best time. It was so special that I felt so close to my partner after slugging it out. I wish we did more hike so FYI to any couple that are in love, go hike and you will be closer if only for a second.

The best view is right at the beginning on the bridge and then at the end at the falls... not too many look outs along the way- was thinking you could see the river most of the way but you really don’t. Its an old rail road track so its very straight- kinda boring. Great for biking- kids would be very board. To me it wasn’t worth the 6.8 miles but now we know.

worth the walk. 5yo was a little tired towards the end, but enjoyed every spot she could stop to play in.

Very mild until the steep .7 up the north. It is steep but there’s no rock scrambling or anything that exciting. The woods between the 2 peaks are nice. Nothing to rush back for but it’s checked off the to-do list

The Cascade Brook was a great trail! The view from the lake was spectacular!! I’d have preferred to have hiked the Basin Trail up or down and used the Cascade Brook to make it a loop (instead of Cascade to Lonesome Lake). The Pemi Trail to and from the Basin Parking Lot wasn’t as well maintained, which was fine, but it was close to the interstate so that made for a less enjoyable section of the hike. Overall, great views with lots of swimming holes plus plus an AMC hit at the lake.

nice hike before heading home

Only did the section up to Cloudland Falls. It was a bit intricate but so gratifying once we got to the falls.

Don't let the first third fool you - the trail gets vertical about a half mile before the peak. Someone else suggested up South, down North which I will also suggest. Getting down south would be a bit more challenging. Views at the top aren't 360° but they're gorgeous regardless! Only gave this 3 stars because there's really nothing outstanding or memorable about the hike up. (it's also way closer to 10.2 miles than the 9.1 listed)

beautiful serene walk thru the flume and gorge and caves although it has a lot of uphill hiking. saw 3 chipmunks and 2 red squirrels and several kinds of birds. want to do it again in the fall.

Top 2 most difficult hikes I have done; I would not attempt this unless you’re in good shape and are an experienced backpacker. The reward for the difficulty are 7 amazing views atop some of the most gorgeous peaks in the north east. Did it two days highly recommend.

Tip: water is scarce between lafayette and last tent site so be prepared before you summit lafayette

Beautiful easy trail. A little long for our Corgi, but that's to be expected when your legs are short. $5 parking fee at the self service kiosk.

Great trail with many scenic waterfall views and opportunities to get in the water in a couple spots. We have hiked the trail three or four times and would recommend it for a drier day. The trail can be very muddy after it has rained to the point where I was sinking ankle deep with each step. For those who want to follow the trail all the way to Lonesome Lake, be aware that you will need to get past a difficult river crossing. It was doable, but our dogs struggled to make the crossing and had to be carried across one at a time.

easy trail. about 5k to get to the falls. Best waterfalls to play in in the area. lots of places to get water along the way. My daughter had a blast.

Great 3 day hike. Took a couple guys out there for their first time backpacking and they had a blast. Make sure you have enough water containers and know where to refill. And remember leave no trace!!

Without a doubt this is a great hike. I just did it for the third time in my life at 72 years old. Sadly, it will be my last time as I no longer posess the agility and balance to safely handle the rocky and sometimes wet downhill sections.I still have the stamina for the uphill sections and I still have a love for the spectacular views from the ridge. This is a must-do hike for anyone who appreciates hikes, climbs and spectacular views. Just don't wait until you are 72 to do it.

Great trail with beautiful waterfalls along the way. I didn't find crossing the brook to be too difficult. The trail gets much steeper as you're climbing up towards Lonesome Lake but the views once you get there are well worth it.

My favorite hike so far. Breathtaking waterfalls that you actually hike through, across, and up. The parts of the trail after the river-adjacent section gets difficult. Bring plenty of water and some food.

Phenomenal hike, very thankful to meet a park volunteer once we were on top, who recommended we move on to do Lincoln and then Lafayette and down old bridle path. The whole thing took us 9 hrs...well worth it.

Hiked this yesterday with my DH! White Mountain National Forest is one of our favorite places to explore so we enjoyed this hike. The trail up is a bit steep and muddy/slippery in many areas but plenty of areas to grab on to a tree or rest if needed. We plan to come back sometime in the Spring and go all the way to Lonesome Lake. It was a beautiful day and it was so nice to be able to step off the trail here and there and enjoy the beautiful and serene waters with different views each time! :-)

starts flat and picks up all the elevation in the last mile. the view from both the peaks is incredible. we did South then North, and it worked out well, although it seemed like North-South is a more popular direction. there were as many as 7 river/steam crossings, not all of them straightforward. perhaps that's the effect of early spring, but expect them.

Belle randonnée familiale, très bien aménagée et facile. Décor impressionnant.

Trail was very muddy because of the the rain. Was difficult to tell where to cross the river (not enough markings) and there was no marking to cross over to the cascade brook trail so we had to turn around and walk down the way we came.

Get there early and go when it’s rainy! We were the only ones there, and doors open at 8:30am.

on The Flume Trail

I thought the $16 was a little steep for a 30-45 minute hike through the woods. The gorge was cool but it was really crowded even in a Tuesday afternoon( I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near that place on a weekend). Good hike for families and kids if you want to pay the admission.

Nice loop trail with some steep climbs at the end. The views are great but limited, they are not 360 you only have a couple of overlooks. Recommend going up the North and coming down the south.
