Great easy hike through an old farmstead. Lovely view midway; many options for rambling, snowshoeing and cross country.

Great loop! The trails are generally pretty easy to follow and the trail is well maintained. I went up Gunstock first, then skipped the Brook Trail out and back in favor of the Outlook out and back as others have suggested. I can't speak to the Brook Trail since I didn't take it this time around, but the outlook was lovely and a fairly gentle 3 mile addition to the route if you're looking to make the trip longer. The summit of Belknap is wooded, but has a fire tower that offers some really great views if you climb up. There's a beautiful outlook a bit further along the White Trail right before the junction with the Old Piper Trail I chose to continue on towards Piper Mountain via the Old Piper Trail rather then taking the carriage road back to the car to add on a bit more mileage and avoid the road walk. I was happy with this decision! There are some great outlooks and views near the summit of Piper as well before a moderate descent via the Piper Mountain trail to near the beginning of the lower carriage road parking area.

Different trails for all ages, taking your time you can easily complete any trail with staying on two feet. A great view of gunstock on a clear day! Parking at the elementary school makes it safe and convenient.

Pretty packed down trail, all I used were yaktraks and I had no issue. Good little hike!

We went up Quarry Trail and down Lakeside. The Quarry Trail currently has a large tree down on it, but it is easily passable.
Great views from the Lakeside Trail. We hiked in snowshoes, but some we saw only had boots.
Overall a good little hike, a couple small pitches up but not a lot.
Lots of blazes on the trees and ground which was nice.

This trail was awesome. It was definitely steeper than I thought it was going to be. The trail is well maintained and easy to follow. I took the time to find the plane crash on Belknap mountain. I wouldn’t attempt to find it unless you are absolutely sure of where you are and and confident in your ability to get back to the blue trail. (You have to leave the trail to find it.) I’ll definitely do it again!

Great views along the trail and from the fire tower and Gunstock Mountain.

Good hike, dogs welcome!

Ran part of the trip up and most of the way down, many options for different trails. The waterfall on the Blue trail is very nice, and there is plenty of open views at the top of Gunstock.

This was a lovely hike on a beautiful fall day. Well marked. We enjoyed the creek on our uphill climb. Always enjoy the ridge line portion of the hike - Straighback offers nice views (Anna, not so much). Not much traffic even though I’m sure Major’s trails were packed.

Good hike up Mt Rowe on blue trail, then took White Ridge Trail to Summit of Gunstock ski area lunch break at top, the access road to base of ski area. trails were clearly blazed. on a clear day there would be plenty of good views. Today 10/9/18 it was very foggy, drizzly and NO VIEWS.
Definitely would do again.

Parking is minimal. There is a half moon on the right where the blacktop ends then a short walk up the dirt road to the trail on the left. The beginning of the trail is nice and wide and a steady uphill climb for quite awhile!! I was very winded, but got through it!! The trail gets a little tougher as you climb. A lot of loose rocks and a ton of water!! It’s a great workout both ways!! Very pretty at the top!! All in all, a Great hike!!!

Nice, quiet hike with well marked trails. Went up yellow and down blue which took 2.5 hours. Steep at the beginning and then levels off toward the top. The ledge before the summit was way better than the actual summit. Maybe saw 6 other people the entire time and was a beautiful fall day. Would highly recommend!

More “moderate” than “easy” but is well marked and has great payoff.

Family friendly hike with a good view of the Gunstock Resort and valley. We went up the yellow trail, which is very steep - avoid if you have young kids. We came down the Blue trail, which was very nice! Be sure to take a map as there are several trail options in various places, and some trails are unmarked. Tip: you can remove the red-blazed loop at the bottom of the hike by parking in the second parking lot (south) of the Gilford Elementary School - this red blazed trail section, while lovely, is not part of the BRT system.

Hiked the loop as shown, including the out-and-back on Brook Trail. A few hints: 1. The entrance to the orange trail is a short walk up the carriage road from the lower parking area (not at the lower parking area); 2. Don't bother with the out-and-back on the Brook Trail - there's no view to be had - instead do an out-and-back on Overlook Trail for a few extra miles and a view; 3. There's a great view of the Eastern Belknap Range about 10 yards from the intersection of the yellow (Boulder Trail) and white trails southeast of the Belknap summit - worth the short walk; 4. the white trail has some nice views but is a little rooty/rocky - still worth it; 5. Walking the carriage road back is ok, but hike over northern part of Piper if you don't want to deal with a few cars and/or a lot of pavement.

Overall a good hike! Views from the Belknap fire tower were great. Gunstock was, eh, ok. Would hike again.

What a Beautiful piece of property!!! I’m a beginner and some spots were a tiny bit challenging for me!! (I’m 60

This was a great trail for a family with small kids. The hike had enough elevation to challenge the kids, but it was a wide easy trail. The view at the top and partway down was breathtaking.

Awesome trail! Took my 6 year old and she loved it!

nice views for such a short hike

Trails are well marked - it did not take long to complete the loop - we hiked the trail in late August, and would definitely consider going back in the winter to snowshoe. Easy trail - no real scenic areas

This is a great trail for families. It is relatively easy to navigate and there are signs throughout the trail providing information on the surrounding trees and animals. As a highlight, there is also a great view of Lake Winnipesaukee.

Easy hike with the family. (Kids ages 9 and 6).We went up the quarry trail and down lakeside which had better lake views.

Great hike! I parked at the upper carriage parking lot which left a 2 mile loop (green trail up and blue down) to Belknap. There's a 1/2 mile spur to Gunstock off the blue trail. The trails are very well maintained and marked. Kudos to the Bratts! Definitely moderate, not difficult. A little foggy this morning, but there are wonderful views from both mountains.
Note the upper carriage road is dicey, but manageable in a mini-van if one is careful.

Great hike! Took 3 kids (ages 3,5,7) and it wasn’t too bad. A little wet after the recent rain but drying out nicely. Beautiful lake views from the fire tower at the top.

Definitely not “easy” more moderate than anything else. Great trail, well marked.

Gorgeous views with a lovely breeze at the top. Took 3 kids 2 adults and a puppy a little over an hour to summit. Steep to start but a good moderate hike.

48 years at the lake and never did this until today!! Going up Qual trail is at times a bit tough! I’m not an avid hiker by any means!! Not much to see at the top, but coming down lakeside trail, the views are spectacular!! It took a total 1 hour top to bottom!! Well worth it!!
