A beautiful winter hike. definitely need some spikes in step icy slopes. good views, varied terrain, and different ecosystems. wonderful.

beautiful trail in winter. snow was well packed on 13 jan 2019

Very icy but a beautiful trail that leads to a river and waterfalls!

Great trail conditions with a beautiful waterfall.

Amazing 360 degree views!! It’s about 40 min walk from the parking lot to the lake but once you are there the views are beautiful! We went in the wintertime and the snow was packed down so there was no need for snow shoes (though this was early in the season with relatively little snowfall). The trail is very flat and leads to a few more trails— we went on one that bordered the lake. Highly recommend for a nice, easy walk.

Awsome really works great!

Great autumnal ride from Potter Place to Hoyt Road…hope to ride entire trail in 2019.

on Sugar River Trail

Awesome scenic tour of the Sugar River as well as the history railway that once traveled this wilderness route. With many different bridges along the trail crossing the river at several locations. I can only imagine a time just a few decades ago when they were trains riding along under where my wheels now travel. Note this trail dries quickly after the rain.

Great local trail with easy access, convenient parking and polite riders.

Very rocky with heavy roots in some areas. Found it to be a moderate to easy hike with several wet areas to navigate. Lovely views and a nice rest area at the shelter with a campfire pit! Great experience overall.

We did the walk with our pup. Not sure that it should be rated ‘easy’. There are a lot of roots and rocks in the trail, making it a bit tricky. At the outlet from the pond, we had to go somewhat off trail to find a suitable path for our dog.

We took the fur kid here. It was a very pretty walk. Easy, flat and not many people. I was a chilly day so that may have had something to do w it. If you’re ever in the area it is a great place to walk w your fur kid, or by yourself!!

A great hike (walk ) around the lake
leanto
is a great place to stop and have lunch and enjoy the scenery....peace and quiet.
Thank you

Mid-October was a great time to view the lakes and fall foliage. No flies, mosquitoes, or ticks. Overcast skies, but soothing vistas of the ponds. Fresh air - easy walk.

Nice level trail. Moderate traffic with dogs. Will be beautiful when foliage is peak

Best running trail around, footing is good trails are easy and the views are great! Start anywhere and go out and back. Or get dropped off and picked up when going point to point.

Nice little trail along the pond. Can be pretty buggy at times. Have seen a few turtles & occasionally a loon on the water. Busy area - lots of folks fishing & dog walking.

Just a nice walk in the woods. My dog enjoyed the easy walk.

Start with the northernmost trailhead, as it seems to be the easiest to find and presents the most scenic parts. There are little diversions that will give you tranquil spots to watch the Cocheco River. This being a city trail, the tree coverage won’t entirely insulate you from urban bustle, but it’s a pleasant escape nonetheless. It’s moderate in length, but in elevation and trail quality my trek was quite easy.

Very nice and easy hike! The loop is perfect for dogs who need to burn off some energy. The only potential issue is a -18° slope on sand. I went clockwise around and it was at the first right turn (near power lines). It was certainly easy and not a problem for my family, but if you have any physical issues I would recommend taking your time. Overall a quick and easy walk that has a nice pond and some pretty views.

Great trail, we road bikes and would rate it easy as it is virtually flat from Canaan to Lebanon. Have done it multiple times, very scenic with great views along Mascoma Lake. Also have done from Franklin to Danbury, also flat with one hill at a road crossing. Great to see some seniors out on pedal assist bikes!

Back to hike the red loop! One pretty steep section, but otherwise a great couple miles in the woods with plenty of stops along the water as you head back upstream toward the falls. Also took a spoke out on a trail marked with bars like the Dutch flag; decided to turn around and head back to the red loop when the trail became too steep for small children.

I loved this trail-it has something for most levels and an endless amount of trails to cover. We are not good at the map reading so we would have liked the markers to be a little bit clearer...other than that - super awesome!

Update-went again today and trails we took were for the most part, clear. Awesome day once again!
