who ever said that this Trail was easy must be a mental patient it was moderate not easy but other than that I made it to the top. ugh

loved the trail.

This was definitely wasn’t an easy trail! I brought my 10, 6, and 5 year olds they did better then me! But it was beautiful!

Beautiful forest! BUT! Who ever rated this as easy has to rethink their standards. This is a fairly short but intense hike. 75% is steep. I had my son in a pack and am a moderately healthy and fit 45 year old man. I was able to power through without a serious break but it was definitely demanding. I would rate this as a moderate hike with some fairly challenging sections. Not for novice hikers looking for a quick jaunt. Bring water and a carb snack. Too bad fire tower is locked. Incredible views from top of tower. I’d do it again.

liked the hike, took a couple of breaks. a lot of ticks so dress accordingly. I think it deserves a good review

I agree with all the other reviews that this trail is very steep and the heavy layer of pine needles on the ground make some of the climb a little more troublesome (especially on the way down). Overall the hike is less than 1.5 miles to the top and the view make it well worth it. Perfect for a short day hike with the dogs.

Steep, fire tower at the top for 360 degree view of the lakes and northern region. Great views for a shorter length hike!! We took the Libby Trail and this offers more of a trail vs wider path on the others

I won't call this an easy trail more moderate because of the steeper rise at the top. Definitely a fun trail for a family great picnic area with tables at the top views from tower only

Consistent incline. Lots of rocks. This trail can be completed within an hour and a half easily. Fantastic view on top of the fire tower.

first I would like to say that the trail should be moderate to hard...not easy...me and my son got a work out...the top had picnic tables for a nice cool break...the tower however wasn't accessable.... millions of wasps surrounded it...no joke...so many wasps...next year we will go earlier in season in hopes no wasps...but there was a couple trails off to sides if you make it up!!

The Libby Rd Trail is a steep, but not too difficult route up. It passed through areas of microburst damage before entering a boreal forest. At the summit I attempted to climb the firetower, but I was only able to make it halfway up before there were too many wasps to continue. They were on every surface of the tower, including the stairs and railings. Unfortunately that meant I was not able to enjoy a good view. The descent on the Dearborn Trail was also very steep, but more enjoyable than the Libby Rd Trail because of it being a footpath and it passed through some interesting forest.

Old Fire Route - narrow rocky road all the way up. No views until the Firetower lookout which has 360 view from the top - hit head climbing up steep steps. Lots of wasps at the watchtower. Pretty steep for a trail run, but the footing was pretty good. Section over to Hanson Top adds on another 0.8 total - single track and relatively flat. Nice lookout to the southeast from Hanson Top.

I DID LOOP FROM Hobbs rd. about 4 mi. loop. At the end of Hobbs rd. small parking lot. Dearborn ( yellow ) trail. This is the way to climb to the tower.

Hard, but loved it!

Boring hike up ATV trail, no views on the way up. The fire tower is cool though but you have to go to Hanson top for a summit view and will add on .8 miles to the hike. Ok outing for a Friday night for a short hike, also would rate on the easy-moderate side

This was far from a hard trail, actually a horrible hike up without any views. Trail was basically a old dirt road. The fire tower was cool and two picnic tables made a great spot for lunch. Many trails not in alltrails. Hanson top had the best views but wasn't on the map.

Hiked Dearborn trail up and down. Not clearly identified in terms of how to find it. Nice heart rate activator. Fun. Now going to the lake to relax.

this is a great scenic trail. recommend to everyone looking for a easy to moderate hike with great views

Except for a bit of postholing thru snow, the Libbey trail was not hard. It's a great scenic trail up to the lookout trail. Tried to do the Dearborn loop down but too much snow made the trail hard to find.

Up Green Mountain Climb and down Dearborn. Parked at the Dearborn trailhead and had to walk a mile or so on gravel roads to get to the Green Mountain climb trailhead. The trail Is basically a wise gravel road with loose rocks on it, not a wooded narrow trail. Some areas long steep climbs. I wouldn't call it hard although it is steep in areas but it is wide open and gravel. Good 360 views from the fire tower at the top. Took Dearborn down and it was a more enjoyable narrow trail through the woods. Would take Dearborn up next time.

Nice trail. It was steep, but I would not rate it as hard (moderate if you are in shape). It is poorly marked and we had to be conscious of where we were relative to where we came from. We used this app to track ourselves. The view from the fire tower is beautiful!!

So....it was not EASY. Finding the trail was a bit confusing as maps brought you to a treatment center. The trail begins with logging road and lots of debris. Eventually it was very well marked. Compared to trails up Mt Washington it was steeper with less rocks.
I would say Moderate or Moderate to difficult. It was a peaceful hike. The views from the tower were awesome but some trees were barriers to some views.

Tough to find initially, but then easy enough to follow. Definately steep and a good workout!

this trail is NOT easy....at least it wasn't for me.... it is a steady incline but the view was well worth it!

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

The first part of the trail is pretty beaten up by logging but then it gets better. Wide and well marked. Clearing at the top with picnic tables and 2 more trails leading off. Didn't have time to check them out. No views until you climb the tower.

Nice easy climb to a fire tower with nice views. A little hard to find. the trailhead but worth it. No one else around.
