Started this late in the afternoon early evening yesterday June 8th. Only got about a mile and a half in because we didn’t want to be in there too late, I know a few have gotten lost due to unforeseen circumstances and one person was unprepared for dark. However the trail is well marked and maintained. Great little trail walk that I look forward to starting a bit earlier in the day and completing.

Another super place to hike in town. There's no beach but u can go for a swim if u don't mind rocks.

This is a quaint walk, gorgeous to see at sunset!

I took a fast walk the entire trail in and out no extreme mountains, relatively flat, hiked before winter snow, real nice trail. I will return many more times, Jim Raymond.

Loved the trail, plenty to see and also secluded.

This would have been a nice nature walk if it weren't for the bugs. My wife and I both sprayed our exposed skin with bug spray but at the end of the day I had over 30 bites through my shirt.

Beautiful. Lots of trail options, not a lot of people crowding them.

Hidden gem in the Seacoast

A beautiful place. A nice loop through varied terrain along great bay. Beautiful views and a nice breeze even on hot days. In early August there's a bumper crop of wild blackberries.

The only downside is poison ivy growth that can only be described as an infestation.

The trail is well maintained and marked. Friendly for kids and dogs. There are also spots where you can stop to get a decent view of the bay, or launch a canoe. All in all a good trail.

A fun little hike. Easy/Moderate terrain. Great views if you stay on the main trail. Beautiful views of the Great Bay. The only downfalls - parking is VERY limited and the dogs are almost all off leash.

It was fun with my friend and our dogs. I wish the trails were marked better. Good hike

Real easy and beautiful. The loop was a little confusing but not too bad at all

Great spot to walk the dog. Nice views of the marsh and beaver dams. The trail forks early on but is well marked and both directions are relatively well established trails (although overgrown in some spots and some of the boards allowing access over wet spots are crumbling).

Confusing. Not well marked. Disappointing. Only positive-nice views of marsh.

I walked the upper trail today with a friend. It was very buggy. I can imagine it would be a nice run if you enjoy running through the woods and seeing marshland and beaver ponds along the way. I also think walking the trail in cooler weather would be nice.

I wouldn't call this a hike. Easy walk for all levels. There is only one section that has some uneven terrain.
Really beautiful walk with different vantage points of the bay.
Very little parking. Some spots initially at kayak launch, then a few spots by research center. Essentially a one way road in and out with no room to park on the side.

snowshoeing

I went snowshoeing here last winter and loved it; I'll definitely be returning this winter, too. The views of Great Bay are excellent, often with swans, geese or ducks paddling around in the still water. Look for deer prints in the snow and take care on the ledges overlooking the ocean, which are usually icy, even when covered in snow. Also, although I have never seen them, my friends claim you can see bald eagles nesting in the trees along the ledges in the winter.

My girlfriend and I love this trail. We've been several times and plan on returning.

trail running

The Sweet Trail is a well marked, and well maintained trail system. I run these trails on a regular basis for training. The trails are mostly single track, moderate to easy technically, and there are no large climbs. The trail runs by several ponds and terminates on a point on Great Bay with a beutifuk view. There are benches on the point which makes it the perfect place for a picnic lunch!

The Sweet Trail is near my house and I hike it frequently. It is an easy hike that allows for an amazing diversity of wildlife viewing. It begins in a forested area and winds up at Great Bay. You can hike the entire trail or just sections and can begin it at either end as there is parking at both and in the middle. While it is rated for handicap access, this only recommended from the Great Bay end or the middle parking area off of Dame Rd. Because much of the trail is near ponds and marshes, mosquitoes are a problem from early spring until the first significant frost. The trail is open year round; with enough snow (rare the last two years) it is great for snowshoeing or cross country skiing as long as you are not expecting a groomed path.
