A nice quiet, lightly traveled 4 mile hike. My wife and I elected to start up North Mountain Trail, tackling the climb portion first, then come around via Boulder and bring it home via the North Mt Bypass. The 4 mile hike took us novices 2.5 hours, most during the climb section, with a few stops. It is definitely buggy. Fortunately we paid attention to the warnings and lathered up in bug spray. Not much scenery even at the peak of North Mt. Might be better during foliage season.

This hike was pretty long and buggy. The day we did it was extra humid so that probably had something to do with it, but it was well marked with lots of interesting changes in terrain which made up for some of the extra length

Nice easy loop trail. Some sections can be quite crowded (especially around South Mountain). Great views to the south and west along the North Mountain ridge. Be sure to take the small side trail on the South Summit to avoid the fire tower and get better views (there are none on the south summit without going up the tower). Very cool rock formations and boulders throughout - just imagine the racket this thing made when it erupted 40 million years ago!!

Great first hike for my 11 week old pup.

Wonderful hike! Views were amazing! It’s amazing to be so close to the city yet feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Besides the beauty of nature....we saw kids learning how to rock climb, horseback riders, and more advanced kids rock climbing. Saw beautiful ponds and huge boulders with caves. What a great day! Will definitely be back to try out some other trails.

Not the greatest views but a nice maintenanced trail

Did the out and back trip back on March 6th. Great conditions that day. Someone has been up there in the past few months, as I found the trail had been re-blazed. No way anyone can get lost now. Anyone been up there in the past week or so? If so, any snow/ice left? Looking to do an out and back again.

Really great trail. Loved the views and boulders. Was slippery coming down the mountain. Lots of ice even though it was 72 degrees out. Easy to follow, well marked.

Took me 2 hrs 15 min to complete loop. After storm there were lots of trees down. First half of loop (going clockwise) is a bit more challenging to find footing. Second half easy walking on old road. Lots of leaves on ground in fall made it a bit slippery. Boulder field at the far end of the loop.

BEAUTIFUL, well marked trail with challenging terrain. One of my favorite trails to date.

Great hike. The boulders are amazing!!!

Great trail loop around north mtn. Did it with my dog and she had fun climbing up the boulders. Some places aren't particularly well marked but overall a great place to wander.

this was a good first hike and the views were beautiful

Nice trail, markers were a bit inconsistent so it's easy to get turned around on some private property, better trail marking would have made this a better experience for sure. Other than that this was a nice hike, not too high up so views are still a bit obstructed by the trees but a fun loop – good workout.

Love this trail - great area to explore. You can add on or shorten length of trip easily. Just make sure you have a map because there are LOTS of intersecting trails.

The Boulder field is incredible.

great hike. I'm recovering from foot surgery and am slowly getting back into hiking.

Great hike! Summited and then hiked back down due to time constraints. Recommend microspikes or snowshoes in the winter, trekking poles at the very least!

Beautiful hike on a beautiful early fall day. Took Boulder Trail by accident instead of heading over to the Bypass road, because trail is not well marked at that point. But all's well that ends well. Ended up taking Boulder Trail to Round Pond Road, up the dirt auto road (Collins Rd) then finally back to North Mt. Bypass to finish the marked hike. Probably made this a 7 mile hike. I recommend the excursion because the ponds are beautiful.

As a beginner I thought the trail was definitely moderate. Hard at times mainly the beginning. We did find ourselves off the trail a few times and had to back track. The trail is poorly marked in spots. I can't wait to do it again!

Nice combination of easy and moderate. Well marked. Limited vistas.

The trail was a bit difficult in the beginning but overall a great hike!! Trail is well maintained. It was well marked for about 2/3 of the way. It's was a good thing we had the map from this app parts of the trail. We would definitely do this one again.

Great Trail! Some mildly challenging obstacles both nothing to difficult and the first 3/4 of the trail was very well marked, in fact it seemed to be remarked very recently. The last 1/4 or so the m marking became a little scarce, but the All Trails map guided me perfectly!

Beautiful quiet walk in the woods. Saw a Great Blue Heron in the beaver pond. Varied terrain with lots of moss and ferns. The brook was almost dry in some places from our dry summer.

was a decent walk with the wife and two pups

Nice walk

I would call this easy, not moderate. There's some cool foliage but are we talking about the same summit here?? The views aren't that good... and I don't think it's really challenging at all for someone who's in at all decent shape. It was worth going once, but I may not go again.

A nice, quick out and back hike. We parked next to the sign for Woodman's Marsh and out and back was less that 4 miles. I think my husband's fitbit tracked around 3.5 miles.

Lots of beaver dams, frog eggs and fresh air.

Since people live on off the trail, you will pass some homes and there were deep, muddy parts of the trail that we needed to avoid, especially with the dog.

Excellent hike. Some steep parts on either side of the ridge, so get a good workout in. We came in from Round Pond to Boulder to the North Mountain Loop and back for a total of 7 3/4 miles.

Great views from the summit. Our 10 year old Lab had no problems with any of the hike.

Did this today. Short and easy but the nature on the walk is amazing. Lots to see with some side trails that we didn't hit today but will be back later to check out. Trail runs alongside a brook and is just a nice walk in the woods.
