We had a wonderful hike with our pup. Not too easy. Not too hard. Good investment in time. Outstanding views from the top. Could have stayed up on the ledges for hours.

Great views! NOT EASY! Goes straight up, over roots and rocks. Tough river cross(river was high and fast after rain). Worth the hike if you’re looking for a moderate hike.4.8 miles total.

We do this hike about ten times a year. The trail is a great morning get away. Only negative is to those of you that can't respect to dog leash rule, this weekend was a mess, enjoy the forest,,, respect the humans.

What a view! Rocky, with boulders, and roots make this trail interesting. A few steep spots but overall steady inclines. It was hard to leaVe the ledges. The view was so beautiful. We had them all to ourselves on a Saturday, after 3:00. You have to go back to the trail each time you go explore the ledges.

Love this waterfall. Easy trail to a very cool waterfall.

Parked across from trail entrance at brook path lot. It was raining in the morning so everything was very slippery. I do not suggest this trail on a rainy day or within 2 days of rain really. We went up big rick cave trail to view the cases which were awesome BuT the trail up old Paugus trail was treacherous due to non existent trail markings. We were rewarded for our rough hike through those woods with beautiful peaks at the top of Paugus. These peaks continued along the Lawrence trail. Coming down Lawrence to cabin trail was a good move, well marked others than one miss of a sign we were at kelly trail junction and had to turn back to find the cabin trail. If you don’t want to see the caves which were awesome you would find an easier trip up and back using cabin to Lawrence only

Hiked Big Rock Cave Trail to Old Paugus, back down Cabin Trail. The steep section of Old Paugus is poorly marked, so if you find you are trying to scale a very large boulder at the top of the section, you went too far, and will find no trail at the top. The lack of trail blazes and outdated/limited signage made this seem more like a test than a hike. My opinion, I’d make this two separate hikes- one for the Big Rock cave, a second one using the Cabin Trail to reach the summit. Big rock cave is impressive.

Fun hike

Great hike with wonderful views from the ledges. There is a small water crossing and a semi steep climb towards the top with lots of roots.

Really enjoyed our hike. We went counter clockwise and spent about half an hour at the summit. Personally, I'd rank the hike easy overall. There was a brief period of steep incline, but it was short and not technical. Be careful you don't miss the summit!

Great hike with super rewarding views at the top. Definitely follow the advice to go counter clockwise, glad we did. My dog loved it, too. Not too crowded, even in peak foliage season.

Great views!

Gorgeous views! Some amount of scrambling. I would suggest climbing up this trail, and going back down on Middle Sister trail.

We went counter clockwise as suggested. Much easier on the knees. Weather was great. Only a hint of leaf fall color change though. Another week or two and it should be perfect for this hike

GREAT LOOP TRAIL. YOU CAN TELL IT ISN'T USED MUCH. ONLY MEET TWO OTHERS ON WHOLE HIKE. VERY STEEP TOWARDS TOP 3/4'S. GREAT VIEW OF PASSACONWAY AND WHITEFACE. WITH VIEWS OF CHOCORUA ON THE WAY DOWN. WHICH IS WHERE THE CROWD IS IN THE AREA.

Really great hike, trail is well-maintained and doable for all ages. Awesome views at the top as well as along the trail at look-out points. We took the loop clockwise just because I had forgotten about the suggestions from this app but it wasn’t terribly hard coming down.

Easy trip to the falls. Beautiful!

Really easy, quick and rewarding. Brook and falls are beautiful.

Enjoyed the walk today, until I fell in the one area of mud. Of course it was my luck that I sprain my pinkie in the fall. My dog loved this trail. Nice easy hike(walk).

Nice easy walk in the woods to the falls. On the way here we saw a young moose by the side of the road.

One of my favorites hikes. It is always beautiful and the views from the ledges are great. Good views for the effort.

Very pretty lake and small waterfalls.
However, the circular trail itself is not very scenic (through a forest; the lake mostly hidden from view by trees), and flat. Ok for a quick little walk in the woods, but nothing special.

I started from the covered bridge and hiked to Rocky Gorge and back, 3.5 miles each way. The trail starts as a gravel road, but quickly turns into a path in the woods. Since it is a ski trail, it is clearly marked with blue diamonds. Very pleasant and easy walk with several great spots to picnic or swim along Swift River. I hiked Sunday around noon and had the woods to myself! My dog was off leash the whole time and had several opportunities to drink and cool off in the river. We will be back!

My first time visiting the White mountains and I loved this trail! My friends and I went counter clockwise, as suggested by other reviews, and were glad we did. I would rate the inclines this way as moderate. The views are unbeatable and the trail itself is just gorgeous. Make sure you don’t miss the main look out point. There is a small sign posted on a tree, so keep your eyes out so you can see the best view!

Nice hike with great views from the top. We went counter-clockwise, so the steepest part was encountered going uphill, not downhill.
Also, nicely shaded everywhere (except the ledges at the summit), which was great on a hot day.

This is a very short hike. Its by the river so you would listen to the sounds of flowing river warer all along the trail. What pays off is the beautiful water fall by the end of the hike. Very pleasant and refreshing experience.

Good for an easy, short trail to a nice waterfall. Did it with a 4 and 6 year old.
