many of the blazes are faded. but this was a fun quick hike. 1.5 hours including some time at the top to look around.

A fun and challenging trail with two amazing views at and near the top. First half of trail is fairly simple and the second half can be a bit strenuous. Some bare rock faces that force you to take your time, and some interesting looking root systems to clamber over!

Took my 9 yr old daughter, she had to stop a few times, but overall a very good and easy hike, great views towards the top, had lunch on the cliffs and back down to play in the river and cool down after, couldn't have asked for a better day. 70's, sunny and no humidity.

We did this trail the other day counter clockwise and it was a wonderfully breezy day so fewer bugs than usual this time of year. Great views from the top!

Lovely hike with friends, went up clockwise and had a snack on the top boulders. Lots of interesting geology and biology to ponder over. Hermit thrush sung to us at the top.

Great family hike on a dry overcast day. Three kids under 10 with a little careful scrambling at the top. Awesome views starting at the ledge and then at the peak with North east view of a snow patchy Mount Washington.

Pretty easy hike with rewarding views

Great views at the top, make sure to take the extra 0.2 miles to the cliffs, definitely worth it. Not a beginner trail because it does get steep but it's a great short hike and not too crowded.

Great views for a short hike.

one of my new favorites! this view is probably one of the best for the shorter moderate hikes in the area. my phone clocked in 3 miles for the whole loop. we went up counter and hiked back down clockwise. it is doable for even a beginner in my opinion as it only gets steep for a short time right before you reach the summit. hiking up was a little muddy but hiking down there were lots of icy spots - was thankful I packed crampons because I needed them - very slippery. can’t wait to hike this in the warmer weather! great trail for dogs - our pup loved it. would highly recommend this trail! A+

love love love. beautiful winter hike

In my opinion, this hike is overrated. The ledges are surrounded by mountains that are much higher, so the view–which is the hike’s main attraction–is not that great.

Went here in the early fall. I’d definitely recommend it for a nice short hike with beautiful scenery. Good photo ops!

The brook crossing was moderately difficult on a humid, October day. It’s easy-moderate for the first half of the hike, then there is a steep, eroded section leading to the first overlook. From then on, it’s pretty steep and rocky, I would certainly not rate it as “easy.” When we went, it was too foggy to see anything from the summit, but I hear that there are great views north on a clear day. Luckily, we had some decent views lower down on the mountain, and the foliage was great.

A bit harder than the easy rating we got from the visitor center. We had some little guys and it got steep in some areas but was smooth with some great views at the top. Do it!

Hiked this yesterday. Heavy packed snow and thick ice throughout trail. Micro spikes a must and poles recommend! Lots of fun and beautiful in the winter. Take your time and enjoy. Ascent counter clockwise, descent clock wise.

I Snowshoed 3/4 the way then went to boots & crampons. Some areas only had 2 in. of lite snow ,other areas where well packed on the trail. First water crossing was very hazardous . High water ice , 30 ft. across. It was a little dicey!!! Great day 28* F cloudy .

Great short hike to take up a few hours. It’s a steady (easy) incline for the first mile and a half. The last half mile is steep and I would rate it as moderate. Most people before us used snowshoes, but the trail was hard and just light traction was needed. Snow falling made views non existent. Definitely going to do this one again!

The trail was very scenic, even during the winter when the ice is frozen over, the lake that you walk around is picturesque, and the silence of nature is stunning.

The mile hike is brisk and quick, what’s an excellent views of the lake and the surrounding wildlife. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick hike up in the White Mountains.

Nice short moderate round trip hike. Regulars debated whether clockwise or counterclockwise is easier on the knees. I went counter and found walking up the rock steps possibly easier on my knees than walking the other direction. The 14 or so numbered nature posts might be easier to spot going clockwise, however. At about the halfway point is a short trail to an amazing west and south facing lookout. For more solitude go to the end of the lookout. Great lunch stop. At the end of the hike, next to the covered bridge you can dip into the shallow river to cool off on hot days.

Fairly easy hike. Aside from last half mile (where you’re almost climbing straight up granite slabs) it’s a good steady incline. Hiked it yesterday and had to navigate through some icy spots, so just watch for black ice as you’re approaching the last mile!
