great workout or beginner family hike with nice view.

This hike never gets old

Beautiful trail. Starts to the left of the parking lot. Very fun to hike with snow at the top, would definitely recommend chains. The views were incredible and well worth the hike.

Even in early November there was still quite a bit of color. Tricky to find the start of the trail but once you do it the trail is well marked with yellow dashes. Going down was more difficult to me with the slick rocks, I fell 6 times, but it was the day after a moderate rain. Amazing views and a great first New England hike.

I love the Champney brook trail. Beautiful waterfalls about 1.5 miles into the hike. From there the grade goes up a little bit as you hike towards the first outlook. The outlook to the summit offer some rock scrambling and great views. The summit is breathtaking. 360* views. Easily one of the best hikes in N.H. More rewarding than many of the 4,000 footers in the area. A must do hike.

We had a great time hiking the .3 miles in snow to the falls. It's a beautiful place and a short walk. The stairs were closed to view from the upper area but we still got great pictures and took home some wonderful memories.

Boulder Loop is a great intro to the White Mtns. The solidly moderate 900' ascent and gentle descent are a good workout, rewarded by spectacular views from the ledges up top. Our knees hurt the next day - but we're getting old. ;-) Hiking shoes and trekking poles advised.

We had a wonderful hike with our pup. Not too easy. Not too hard. Good investment in time. Outstanding views from the top. Could have stayed up on the ledges for hours.

Great views! NOT EASY! Goes straight up, over roots and rocks. Tough river cross(river was high and fast after rain). Worth the hike if you’re looking for a moderate hike.4.8 miles total.

dog loved it

Very rewarding hike! Please bring Trail App with GPS or Map Note: at times Trail is difficult to identify ,We hiked when it rained and it was very slippery at the top! Would do it again...

A lot of rocky ground. If raining can be hazardous.
Good 360 view at the top.

We do this hike about ten times a year. The trail is a great morning get away. Only negative is to those of you that can't respect to dog leash rule, this weekend was a mess, enjoy the forest,,, respect the humans.

What a view! Rocky, with boulders, and roots make this trail interesting. A few steep spots but overall steady inclines. It was hard to leaVe the ledges. The view was so beautiful. We had them all to ourselves on a Saturday, after 3:00. You have to go back to the trail each time you go explore the ledges.

Love this waterfall. Easy trail to a very cool waterfall.

This is a wonderful trail! Up Piper, down Hammond and Weetamoo in 6h (with a nice break at the top.) 360-degree views with fading blazes once above tree line (but a few well-placed cairns helped us navigate, plus this app.) No real scrambling per se, but the open rock when wet requires some caution. Saw our first ice of the season today, and snow on the distant summit of Mount Washington!

Really nice hike with great views. Major bonus that its dog-friendly. After doing this “moderate” hike, I’ll never do a “hard” one :) it was challenging! Steep and rocky, but the 360 view from the top made it all worth it.

Great hike through a wooded deciduous forest with a stream parallel to the trail at the start. Quite a bit of work has resulted in a climb that is strenuous but moderate.
The summit affords exposed granite spectacular 360 degree views.

Parked across from trail entrance at brook path lot. It was raining in the morning so everything was very slippery. I do not suggest this trail on a rainy day or within 2 days of rain really. We went up big rick cave trail to view the cases which were awesome BuT the trail up old Paugus trail was treacherous due to non existent trail markings. We were rewarded for our rough hike through those woods with beautiful peaks at the top of Paugus. These peaks continued along the Lawrence trail. Coming down Lawrence to cabin trail was a good move, well marked others than one miss of a sign we were at kelly trail junction and had to turn back to find the cabin trail. If you don’t want to see the caves which were awesome you would find an easier trip up and back using cabin to Lawrence only

Hiked Big Rock Cave Trail to Old Paugus, back down Cabin Trail. The steep section of Old Paugus is poorly marked, so if you find you are trying to scale a very large boulder at the top of the section, you went too far, and will find no trail at the top. The lack of trail blazes and outdated/limited signage made this seem more like a test than a hike. My opinion, I’d make this two separate hikes- one for the Big Rock cave, a second one using the Cabin Trail to reach the summit. Big rock cave is impressive.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a fun hike, trails are well maintained and blazed, until you get about 200 yards from the summit and the blazes are on rock and rather hard to find but makes for a fun climb. would rate it as moderate.

Fun hike

Learning difference from 12 yo to 67 yo as far as scampering up and down rocks. Excellent trail but definitely took longer than anticipated and challenging.

Not one of my favorite hikes. Almost every step was on/around/over a rock or stump. Very rarely did my feet actually touch the ground. That made it a very difficult walk. There were a few places where the trail was poorly marked. The view at the top was beautiful, but the rest of the hike wasn’t picturesque.

We went up on a beautiful day, taking Piper up and “west” loop down. The latter was longer but we avoided going down the rocks we had scampered over on the way up. Summit was glorious- beautiful 360 views.

Great hike with wonderful views from the ledges. There is a small water crossing and a semi steep climb towards the top with lots of roots.

We started at the Piper Trailhead, then took Carter, Middle Sister, West Side, Liberty, Hammond, and Weetamoo back to Piper. Be careful if bringing dogs. I had my 55lb dog with me. He made it the whole loop but there were many large rocks that I had to boost him up onto. They were at the end of Carter Ledge up to and in the beginning of Middle Sister. We took the trail pretty slow with many breaks. We had 7 hrs moving and about 10 all together. All in all a beautiful trail! Well worth the work to get up.
