Claremont, New Hampshire Map

The trail provided has you walk straight up the ski slope so I wouldn’t follow it directly. It was a bit hard to find the marked trails up at the top of the mountain but the view was gorgeous! Great view of Mt. Ascutney!

Impossible to follow the All Trails route. Paths are either overgrown or non-existent. Followed track as close as paths would permit. Should be remapped.

Take cell phone tower access road. Bug spray necessary during bottom 1/2 of trail. Lots of warblers. Took us about 40 minutes to first tower. Signs from there point towards view. Stay on access road. Another few minutes to view. Round trip less than 1.25 hours if leisurely.

Great for snowshoeing!

this is a great little trail. it was a bit mucky in places, but easily walked through. up near the top though, there were some large vernal pools that crossed the trail. there was some significant wash out on some of the steaper parts of the trail, but easy enough to get around and still be on the trail. Black flies weren't a problem. they were there, but nothing horrible.

About six inches of snow with a thick sheet of slippery ice. Pretty good view at the top.

It's a pretty spot bit it used to be much nicer before the clear cutting. The Ascutney view is fine but it doesn't have that same isolated charm it once did. The lower trails are fun and feel like legitimate woods, particularly the one that heads by the railroad tracks.

the bridge over the Sugar River is quite pretty but aside from that its coated in litter.

Plenty of different ways to head up which keeps it from getting stale. Flatrock has a great view of Claremont with Ascutney in the distance.

1/4/19, A moderate hike for some OK views if you don't mind walking around chain link fences with communication towers inside them. Icy dirt roads under some fresh snow meant microspikes were required. I was the first to hike after some fresh snow, but even without snowshoes it wasn't bad. Lots of fresh animal tracks, deer, bobcats, squirrels and mice.

Awesome scenic tour of the Sugar River as well as the historic railway that once traveled this wilderness route. With many different bridges along the trail crossing the river at several locations. I can only imagine a time just a few decades ago when they were trains riding along under where my wheels now travel. Note this trail dries quickly after the rain.

A good place for a walk and taking different ways to switch things up is also fun.

This was a nice, clean park. I only walked to the top of the auto road and back. It seemed like they had some cool mountain bike trails. Unfortunately, I didn't have my bike with me.

Great trail if you start by a trail head. Very little litter and some police presence. Many parts become softer sand and a few of the people using off road equipment are respectful. I have recently been using the Northern Rail Trail due to them not allowing off-road vehicles. Last time I used this trail dirt bikers thought it was fun to do wheelies and kick up dust everywhere.

great trail. loved that there different trail heads. made it easier to walk the whole trail. it took a few times but we did it in sections . great to see that there a place to go at the one end. I mean, eats off the trail. we didn't check that part out. I would hope there a dinner or something to go to.

Gravel road is steep! But very rewarding at the top. Follow trail behind 1st tower, it's a hidden clear view!

As someone else said this is not an easy hike, more like moderate. I think I missed something or maybe it was the time of year (late summer) I went but I didn't find much of a view. Which was quite disappointing as you can tell you are quite high up. I think the second tower had the best view. The third tower seems to technically be the top of the mountain but I didn't find a view. I suspect the view is better in the winter when there are no leaves blocking the view.

was much better years ago before they cut down all the trees. I liked the forest look and feel much better. more of a nature walk.

Good for kids and pets on leash. Nice local walking area

This is an easy, quick family friendly hike. If you follow the snowmobile trail around the the left of the mountain and then stay to the inside it will lead you to the top where a flag pole sits. You can cut across and make it up as long as you go in that inward direction. I did this with my two young children who didn't have any problems with it. If you're looking for a little bit more of a challenge go straight up.

Nice moderate snowshoe hike on an ATV trail. Recommend going past the first large cell tower with gated area to the left, then curving to the right and up to the second tower. Highly recommend that you go to the second tower to take in the magnificent views.

Relatively easy hike, only took about twenty minutes to get to top from where we parked, but the view at the top was beautiful. Our dog also enjoyed it!

We rarely have time to ride the tandem my husband built, and from some reviews about sandy soil, we were not sure. BUT it was great, a perfect Sunday late summer day with sunshine & no humidity. Started in Claremont; glad we did as trip back from Newport was slightly "downhill". ATV users were courteous & friendly as were dog walkers. Would like to snowshoe this scenic river trail if we have snow this winter. Good maintenance of entire trail. Thanks!
