It was a fun hike! Went up the yellow trail which took about 1hr and 25min and then took the blue trail back down which took 45min-1hr which is not bad. Sort of rocky and steep but it was great. People were friendly! Saw some dogs and some people brought their kids also.

This is a great trail but not if you are trying to avoid people right now. It is very crowded - you may not find parking on a weekend or holiday. If you go during the week early or late the trails are fairly clear, but it is very buggy even at the peak. Bring hardcore bug spray or bug nets. Some rock scrambling towards the top but all in all not bad. I felt okay even with a baby on my back.

Fun! Pretty easy hike except for about the last 1/4 mile of rock scrambling to the summit. Very crowded at summit and might want to arrive early to get a spot in the lot.

Good loop to get some miles in; strenuous at times but that’s short lived. No sweeping views, but still a good hike! Very well marked even when switching trails so many times. Still very buggy 5/26

Great trail! Took blue trail up and top was a scramble. Easier trail down the yellow path mostly in a dried up river bed next to a brook. The dog enjoyed the cool water after the hike up!

Beautiful view from Mount Major. No view from Mount Anna but nice addition to the hike. Great for dogs. Very buggy at the top. Enjoy!

This is definitely a challenging "moderate" trail due to the purple Precipice path. I recommend going up the purple trail and down blue, purple is very steep and requires climbing hand over hand. Beautiful views all the way up. A great workout that I would do again.

Great view

I really enjoyed hiking this Mountian. Incredible views of lake Winnipesaukee and white mountain ranges. The only issue some might be concerned with is that it is full of people from all over. When I got their the decent size parking lot was full, so I had to park on the side of the road. Even though it was packed it was still very enjoyable!

I liked this trail a lot. I went off the trail a little bit by continuing to follow the blue trail, which connected to the quarry trail and then to the north straight back link trail (green), which connected back to the yellow trail. The straight back trail was kind of hard to follow since the green blended in with the woods and at points the trail disappeared but the all trails app helped a lot.

ive done it so many times because its beautiful

Writing a review before the hike is a first for me. Heading up there today. However, since I have hiked Major for the better part of 40 years I must respond to comments about "people from out of State". Over the years I have seen varied Sate license plates on the cars in the parking lot of Major. After many hikes with my kids (and many family dogs) I can honestly say the entire hiking area including the parking lot was clean and free of debris. Hikers in general are respectful of others and always practice carry in carry out. With the arrival of this Virus many people who normally never hike are now out there. I've seen them and so have you. The type that hikes Tuckerman Ravine headwall in flip flops. The type who treat the world as their trashcan. The type who bags their dogs poop but then leaves the bag on the trial. Some of these people actually live in N.H! It's not where your from it's who you are that matters.

I do not advise this hike to beginners. The way up was fine but we literally got so lost on the way down. The bugs were horrible. It was extremely steep and I even fell around 5 times... the trail was super confusing. We had to cross over half a dozen running water zones. Ended up calling 911 after hour 7..... thank you Gilmanton fire department!! If it wasn’t for you we would be out there still lost and scared AF... not naked and afraid!
