Pretty strenuous workout. Have to climb some rocks up a stream and wade through a stream at the top. Recommend some water socks if you have them. The views of Washoe lake are amazing and well worth. There are also some really cool rocks on the top plateau. 4 stars because the downhill is so hard on the joints.

Great trail for horseback. We also believe we heard a bear in the woods and did see some scat.

There a couple of streams that we had to walk the horses through as the bridges are narrow and I am not sure they are rated for a horse.

Highly recommend this loop, and ample trailer parking at the trailhead.

Perfect loop. Did it clockwise today. Brought the wife and dog along. Goodtimes. A mountain biker was having a bite to eat at dry pond and noticed a decent sized bear about 50 yards away. Walking towards him. He packed up his stuff and jammed down trail towards whites creek. All in all. A beautiful day. A bit smoky but well worth it. The dog had a blast splashing around in the water along the way. Walking through the aspens along the water was probably my favorite part.

Nice evening walk. Scouting out places for my daughters engagement photo shoot

If you stay on the main trail this is not HARD. Trail is smooth with cool rock formations. I took the BP side trail up to upper price lake.
Don't take this route unless you're advanced. The trail faded in and out, unless you got your leg's, head, topographic mapping @ peak you can get more than hurt. Lots of bear sign, one section just after multiple bear sign dangerous fall left and right. Main trail is the safest bet.

Good trail but be careful! I’ve had two bear sightings in the last two weeks.

Beautiful! Good mix of shade and sun. Didn’t see anyone else on the trail at all.

I LOVE this hike. The views are incredible, the air is clean, traffic light, perfect balance of sun & shade, climbs & walks; it's just exhilarating!
Bonus: lots of geocaches on & off the trails! =]

Great run. Shade about 90% of the way. Steady incline up to Dry Pond then a nice downhill. Definitely doing it several more times.

6-22-18: The hike was beautiful with a lot of inclines. We ran into a bear using the trail on the way down. It, thankfully, ran away. Would hike again with bear mace.

A really wonderful loop trail for a family with three young kids ( under 3 years of age)! Trail was dry, with all the meadows green and lush with flowing rivulets everywhere.

Nice trail, ran the flats and downhill. 1hr but showed on my GPS 4.56

We saw a baby bear.

Did this hike this morning. It was beautiful. I would recommend hiking early due to the open stretches in the sun. There is a sign on the loop that is marked incorrectly. The arrow points left, but you need to make a right to stay on the loop. It shows forest service straight ahead and Brown’s Creek to the left. If you look closely someone tried to scratch an arrow to the right. I only mention this because we went the wrong way and had to double back.

I short hike through the mountainside. There are a few boulders to see along the side of the trail. For the most part, the creek isn't really visible through the underbrush. Decent, but I am sure other hikes at Galena creek are better (and more strenuous).

very nice trail. good mix of shade and sun. early June the creek is still running strong. lots of wild flowers and lizards to see as well. very popular with mountain bikers.

Beautiful trail, start early-this trail is heavily trafficked after 1000. The creek has a couple log water crossings at 1.7 miles. Our well trained pup was off leash most of the hike-we only leashed him a couple times when passing other dog owners on the way down.

Hiked up to Upper Price Lake. The trail although not well marked is easy to follow at this time of year. You will cross the creek several times and even go up through it for about 10 minutes. The last crossing just before the lake requires wading in knee-deep water for about 60 feet. Bring your sandals! At the lake we had lunch and on the way down we took a detour to Rock Lake adding maybe 1.5 miles to the itinerary for the out and return. It was well worth it and the lake with its red colored rocks and water lilies was breathtaking. The hike down was straightforward. All in all we spent close to seven hours, but it was well worth it.

Still snowy and slushy at points. Snow may be coming tonight. Probably not for everyone until later in the season.

beautiful hike. lots of wildflowers! steep in parts, just enough to feel like a great workout!

Great trail with a lot of up and down. The trail is pretty rocky and steep in places. The wildflowers are just starting to bloom!

Great trail. Strenuous for running given the topography and elevation, for this flat lander.

I hiked this trail up to Mt. Rose Meadows in October. Beautiful, looking at all the leaves changing colors in the fall and there’s a forest of aspen trees. It’s a peaceful hike make sure you bring a lunch and plenty of water.

Was glad that I added this into my morning. Love the creek sounds. Not too long so it's easy to squeeze in.

Beautiful hike, with great views. The trail was a pretty snowy/muddy at parts, but still hikeable. I was recommended this hike by a volunteer at Galena visitors center and it did not disappoint.

What a fun trail! It was nice to be in the trees again after waiting for the snow to melt, and this was a great first trail of the season. Lots of water in the creek at this time of year, but still very passable.

Nice hike beautiful views

Really fun trail! Doesn't take too long before the sounds of the freeway are drowned out by the wind through the pine needles, sounds of the creek and the birds singing. Yes, there is a pretty good grade to climb, but you are going from Washoe Valley into the mountains. I didn't make it all the way too the lake, the snow covering the trail was knee high in a few spots and I was uncertain on which way the path went. Had a great time!
