Perfect loop. Did it clockwise today. Brought the wife and dog along. Goodtimes. A mountain biker was having a bite to eat at dry pond and noticed a decent sized bear about 50 yards away. Walking towards him. He packed up his stuff and jammed down trail towards whites creek. All in all. A beautiful day. A bit smoky but well worth it. The dog had a blast splashing around in the water along the way. Walking through the aspens along the water was probably my favorite part.

Nice evening walk. Scouting out places for my daughters engagement photo shoot

Good trail but be careful! I’ve had two bear sightings in the last two weeks.

Great run. Shade about 90% of the way. Steady incline up to Dry Pond then a nice downhill. Definitely doing it several more times.

A really wonderful loop trail for a family with three young kids ( under 3 years of age)! Trail was dry, with all the meadows green and lush with flowing rivulets everywhere.

Nice trail, ran the flats and downhill. 1hr but showed on my GPS 4.56

We saw a baby bear.

Did this hike this morning. It was beautiful. I would recommend hiking early due to the open stretches in the sun. There is a sign on the loop that is marked incorrectly. The arrow points left, but you need to make a right to stay on the loop. It shows forest service straight ahead and Brown’s Creek to the left. If you look closely someone tried to scratch an arrow to the right. I only mention this because we went the wrong way and had to double back.

very nice trail. good mix of shade and sun. early June the creek is still running strong. lots of wild flowers and lizards to see as well. very popular with mountain bikers.

Still snowy and slushy at points. Snow may be coming tonight. Probably not for everyone until later in the season.

beautiful hike. lots of wildflowers! steep in parts, just enough to feel like a great workout!

Great trail with a lot of up and down. The trail is pretty rocky and steep in places. The wildflowers are just starting to bloom!

Great trail. Strenuous for running given the topography and elevation, for this flat lander.

Beautiful hike, with great views. The trail was a pretty snowy/muddy at parts, but still hikeable. I was recommended this hike by a volunteer at Galena visitors center and it did not disappoint.

What a fun trail! It was nice to be in the trees again after waiting for the snow to melt, and this was a great first trail of the season. Lots of water in the creek at this time of year, but still very passable.

Nice hike beautiful views

Nice hike!
Few runners and bikes but not overly packed with people.
Some snow and mud. Shoe chains helped in the few inches of snow on the ground.

This was my second attempt to get to Rock Lake, but after downloading GPS coordinates, it helped as trail is hard to find after the creek. Hike is very steep going in and we did this on a winter day that turned out to be warm. At almost two miles in, there is a creek crossing and then shortly after, a second one. You will come to a sign showing that Ophir Creek continues on. DO NOT take the trail that goes downhill (this leads into Little Valley and some private property). When you continue on to Ophir Creek trail, it appears the trail stops and you will have to hike up a creek bed. We did this going up. However, there is a trail to the right of the creek, but it is hard to find. Once you go up the creek bed, you will meander through some "bramble" and find the trail again. Eventually, you will come to a couple of signs (one leads you to Upper Price lake and the other to Rock Lake). The trail is downhill from here and there was quite a bit of snow on the trail going in. Once we got to the lake, it was frozen over and we had fun throwing rocks out there to see if it would break. The entire trip (including our 1/2 lunch break at Rock Lake) was about 5 hours.

Beautiful hike and perfect weather. Some ice going downhill as well as some mud but an overall great hike.

Hike was beautiful, icy on the far side but very manageable. The trail was pretty busy but everyone was very nice! Great views! At a steady pace can be done in less than 3 hours. We will do this hike again soon!

Very nice moderate trail. Steep enough to get the blood pumping but not so bad as needing to stop and catch my breath. Not sure about where it says the trail starts, but this time of year, the gate is closed so you'll have to park on Timberline or go further up to the parking lot. Neat pond at the top, not much water, but being right at the top of the ridge is interesting.

Ok

I had issues with the altitude here. Otherwise it is a nice wide open area good for snowshoe or cross country skiing.

Went on this hike during the first snow of the season. I was the first person on the trail that day (Started at 7:00AM) and the entire hike was very peaceful. It's a great little hike and is so close to Reno.

recommend for sure

Such a fun, not well known, trail! Very good for running and hiking.

Really great hike especially on a snowy day. Highly recommend it but you might need chains to drive up to the trailhead
