Anyone know why the Boy Scout camp was abandoned?

A good short hike. Trail is well established and is beautiful with low growth to all sides and wildflowers. Crystals are beautiful and available for picking. My wife was able to do it easily in the carrier with our 10 month old.

This trail is posted 'No Trespassing'. I guess you could continue to go, but you could face prosecution.

I can see this as a 4 star trail, although I had a 5 star experience. There is no trail that leads up to the final rock formation, so scaling the peak required some bush whacking and scrambling. The views of the meadows, canyon side, and distant mountain peaks made it worth it. The trail offers some alternative courses periodically, some of which reconnect to the main trail, others that lead to different destinations.

Time for this trail to get some TLC! The sun and weather have made reading some of the signs along the trail impossible. The mailbox with maps is empty, as such, the individual area markers don't mean much. As close as it is to the elementary, I hope they frequent this trail.

Fun little trail next to the Truckee. The gate before the bridge has a latch, but not a lock. Trail doesn't get a ton of use; so in some places using the app to tell which way to go is helpful. Gorgeous views of the river.

I was really looking forward to this hike. A bit on edge after reading the "Mountain Lion Hunting Ground" review, but decided to keep a paranoid eye everywhere and give it a shot. Started out as the typical really rocky forest road kind of trail. Saw a couple of smaller lakes that were very tranquil before making it to Fuller Lake. Made it to Fuller Lake and was blown away by the amount of rubbish strewn everywhere. The vandalism to the cabins and again rubbish strewn everywhere. This was in no way contained to the Fuller Lake cabins, it continued well after with construction debris along the trail and visible from the road. Made it to the last turn to go up to the Cone Peak summit. Had to back track as I missed the turn. Didn't miss the turn, there was no trail going to the top. Started off roading the Shoebaru's towards the top and decided that it wasn't worth the effort. Took a different path down the mountain and had a wonderful time without the litter. Saw some of the Tahoe Pyramid Bikeway.

This is a good trail, a little muddy since the recent snow and rain. Don’t be deterred by the no trespassing signs - I think they’re old and no one in sight. My dog and I got about an hour in and came upon what was assuredly a mountain lions hunting grounds. Multiple carcasses of large hooved animals ripped apart across the trail. Needless to say we turned back. But enjoyable till then!

perfect, except for getting caught in crossfire of idiot gun shooters...who goes shooting near hiking trails??? gah! home means nevada.

Take your fishing pole! Easy hike along the Truckee. The trail continues quite a ways past the AllTrails terminas. Would be a 10 if it wasn’t or the I-80 sounds!

Great views and fairly easy trail. I took Garson Road instead of the map on here. The lake was full but I agree, too many people have trashed the area.

A very easy, fun walk with not a lot of traffic during the week. Great for families.

After maybe a quarter-mile the trail splits up hill to the left. However, private property, Road closed ahead, keep out sign is posted. This is the direction all trails map shows to go but I will not trust pass where signs are posted keep out. Need update this trail.

Worth the hike if you can make it past the first mile of steep, rocky terrain. Also helps to have a map (or a map app) because there are a lot of trails and none of them are marked.

Great fishing spot without heavy traffic. Posted sign has related fishing info. Trail is overgrown and has seen some damage by the raging waters but is still legible.

Depending on season fishing is great, lots of good spots on the Truckee river here, caught 7 rainbows in one night. It also features several historic ruins from old time Verdi, informational signs and a very nice park.

Very short but kept up trail featuring plaques about plant and wildlife. It is located on Bridge Street near Verdi ES and the Natural History Museum. The overall area features Deer, Various Raptor, Northern Flicker, Coyote, Raven, Steller's Jay, Scrub Jay, Squirrels, Blue Birds, Chickadee, Great Basin Gopher Snake, Common Garter Snake, Great Basin Rattle Snake,Bobcat, Mountain Lion, Western Fence Lizard (Swifts) and Bear to name a few.

This is a great trail with easy access from the Tahoe/Pyramid Bike Way, however It is frequented by ATV use. The highlight beyond the nice scenery of the Carson and Verdi Range of the Sierra is the abandoned boy scout camp on the way to a second dry lake and Cone Peak. Unfortunately the camp has been brutally vandalized and a lot of trash thrown in Fuller lake. Its an enjoyable local hike with unique features, the only downside is the proximity to I-80.
