never knew Nevada could be so pretty

It was beautiful, plenty of parking and well taken care of trails! We had about a 5 min snow storm randomly! I couldn’t believe how green it was this late in the summer and there was a decent amount of water in the falls.

I did this hike on Friday, Sep 7th. Great hike with views of several lakes including Lake Tahoe. You will get a great view of Lake Tahoe early along the hike. It was so much cooler at the top, bring layers. The waterfall was beautiful too and a great time to rest. We arrived at 8:30 a.m. and didn’t have any issues with parking space. Hiking poles really helped. It took us about 6 hours roundtrip including a stop at the top for a snack and many breaks along the way.

We only go as far as the waterfall, so approximately halfway. It is a beautiful hike.

Beautiful easy ride.

Nice walk around the lake. Then go get breakfast in south lake.

Fun short walk around the like....perfect for mountain biking

*had good water availability ( creeks in vicinity of Galena falls at half way points- 2.5 miles- 3 miles into hike) for a good portion of the distance.
*gorgeous views all the way.
*top of mt. Rose provided magnificent views.

Very scenic hike. It took less than 4 hours round trip. the final mile was difficult at the switch backs, but became more challenging the last .25 mile with the gravel. I started at the trailhead at 230pm and made it back by 615. The views at the top are amazing.

Great hike. Wonderful views even though there was a lot of haze/smoke from the CA fires. Water fall was still flowing strong with lots of very green vegetation. Easy hike to the falls if you are looking for a quick trip. From There it gets progressively more difficult to the summit. Very doable for a beginner, just make sure you take water and snacks. As a not, looking at the map route for loop, the portion of loop to the right is for hikers only. No bikes or horses.

Lovely hike with plenty of views. At the waterfall I went up instead of across and ended up on a neighboring peak. Still managed to get some good footage. Check out what you are in for here...

Awesome hike. The stroll up to the waterfall is gorgeous and fairly easy. You then gradually climb with a couple of small water crossings until you reach the 1 mile to the summit sign. Then it gets pretty strenuous to the peak, but the views are so worth it. Alternate trail back was refreshing as it was fairly empty compared to the main trail. Part of its fire road, but you see a pond and great views of Tahoe, plus it makes it more of a loop.

One of the best trails. Bring Water and snacks if your going to the top.

Excellent hike. Enjoy an easier 5 mile loop to the waterfalls and back, continue to the summit for the challenging part. The views are worth it at the top. Take lots of water and snacks.

great hiking trail....

Very easy and also very short. Good for a quick change in scenery if you head north or south on the east side of Lake Tahoe and want to make a quick stop.

Gorgeous hike. There are now portapotties at the parking lot but they are pretty gross. Bring your own TP.
Nice lollipop if you take the alternate trail to Relay Peak Road and loop around that way back to the trailhead. Really nice hike through wildflower meadow. There is a small pond for a dip/wade - the dogs we passed were loving it.

Gorgeous. I went for a trail run and was happy with how runnable it was. Well marked

Really great if youre looking for a challenge for a beginner hiker!

Nice hike. Easy for the most part. I did this hike on 8/4. it was very smoky that morning but by the time I got up to the start of the hike which was just under 9000 feet the smoke wasn’t really affecting me but it did affect the views.
It does start to incline shortly after the waterfall but no steep parts. its a pretty gradual incline even the switchbacks aren’t very steep. only difficulty really is elevation if your not used to it.
it was super windy at the top. about a half mile before I got to the summit the wind gusts were so strong they nearly knocked me off my feet a few times.
but once you get to the summit there are some rocks you can sit behind which blanket from the wind. if there wasn’t so much smoke it would’ve been a beautiful view. total hike took just under four hours that was with the rest stops to take pictures and lunch at the summit.

Easy hike to waterfall but not so easy to the summit, beautiful and worth it!

Excellent trail! Easy start to warmup and then kicks up at waterfall around 2.5 mile mark. Last mile is a beast but very rewarding.

It’s very smokey now. Air is dirty and views are limited. Hopefully better very soon.

Nice leisurely trail. Easy for kids alike.

Awesome trail. The meadows are amazing. We had a gallon and a half of water between three and it was enough, but we didn't go all the way to the top.

We hiked to and above the waterfall. The wildflowers were pretty, especially in the meadow trail near the waterfall (direction of Mt. Rose Summit). Lots of hiking options from the trailhead. The hike was easy/moderate. The terrain was chaparral, some trees, but not a forested area.

Great hike overall. The first 3.5ish miles are pretty level and pleasant to hike along. It's a little after the waterfall that the incline begins and then it's a mostly uphill hike the rest of the way. The incline never gets too bad though. Views from the top are great, even with the smoke from the fires.
Bring lots of water. There's lots of parking at the trailhead, just be mindful that the restrooms are closed (for maintenance).

This hike involves waterfalls, wildflowers, and butterflies. There are beautiful views the entire walk. Restrooms are not available at the trailhead. We needed more water than we normally do on this sunny July day. We saw others that were out of water as well.

Great hike with beautiful wildflowers and butterflies. It took about 4.5 hours with 30 min up on the summit (plus 1.5mile detour to explore).
And restrooms at trailhead are closed, so plan accordingly :)

The last mile to the summit was the hardest and the winds near the top were relentless, but the view was amazing at the top and so was the view along the whole trail. Lots of wildflowers and butterflies. The waterfall is a great destination for someone who doesn't want to hike all the way to the summit. Make sure to hike to the top of the waterfall for a great view too. The restrooms at the trailhead were closed.

Hiked this trail solo in 12 days. Easier than the JMT, but with the heavy snow year in 2017, navigation was a bit challenging in the snow. Resupplied once by Echó Lake Summit. This trail is a great introduction to thru-hiking.
