Just did this trail today with my dad for the first time in a stock 2016 4x4 tacoma and it was awesome. You definitely need high vehicle clearance to get over the rocky sections but for the most part its not bad at all. Lots of places to stop along the way and explore the rocks, saw some petroglyphs and the old dam with the owl graffiti. would recommend if youre in vegas with your 4x4

Wasn’t expecting much given how desolate the area is but was pleasantly surprised - Extremely deep canyon in the middle of nowhere filled with cobbles that poured in from a side canyon - Instead of going up to the dam I went up to where the side canyon cut in and then followed it out and went cross country - Be sure to look for the petroglyphs in three locations in the narrows on the left plus the fake petroglyphs across from the rock climbing area on the right

The description for this trail is mildly misleading, it is a point to point trail. the desc. says 22+ miles in and back, but if you go 22 or so miles, you come out on the North Shore rd of Lake mead recreational area.... So we would label it as a point to point. took about 4 hours to conquer. It is aggressive in spots, but easily done with our Stock Rubicon. definitely a high clearance 4x4 trail though. lots of cool views, and several areas to set up camp. we would highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure.

Fun off-roading course which has options to rock scramble or dirt hills to climb with your 4x4s. Some parts could be too narrow for larger vehicles. My stock 2019 Wrangler Moab edition did an awesome job! I just went by myself and didn’t really need a spotter. It took about an hour and 45 minutes with some breaks in between. 45 minutes from Vegas strip. I will be back for more!

I loved this hike. We were in a F150 and we chose to walk from the parking are - the first wash is not in great condition - remember you have to get out. The petroglyphs, if you find them, are in great condition. The ones in the narrows are modern art! There is a lot of fossils and you can clearly see fault lines. There is a lot of loose rock in the narrow. When you get to the cave be sure to look on the ground - the sand takes good foot prints,

It was okay. Very long walk though, I suggest you bring LOTS of WATER & stay hydrated!!! It was also kinda hard to see some of the petroglyphs but it was interesting.. I had a good time with my dog and my grandma :)

First, you will need a 4x4 vehicle or at a vehicle with good clearance to make it to the trailhead, or you are going to have to hike an extra 5 miles there and back. The rock paintings every one talks about are hard to find and I did not manage to find the major wall of petroglyphs. I will go back sometime and try again. And they "recently" built a Dam Wall at the far side of the canyon, I guess to control the flooding, so you can not exit the canyon and continue the trail, there may me a "new" trail around this obstacle, but did not look for it, maybe next time.

Great rocks to crawl on for beginners. 4x4 high clearance vehicles only if you head off the main trail.

Easy, flat hike. Fun to see all the petroglyphs on the canyon walls. Definitely worth it!
