Pretty strenuous workout. Have to climb some rocks up a stream and wade through a stream at the top. Recommend some water socks if you have them. The views of Washoe lake are amazing and well worth. There are also some really cool rocks on the top plateau. 4 stars because the downhill is so hard on the joints.

Lovely hike with beautiful views. Limited parking, so better to get there early. We didn’t think the mountain bikers were obnoxious, but it was nice to know we would encounter them along the way. Entire way there is uphill. We are averagely fit people, and it was a moderate hike for us. We’ll be coming back again!

Great 13er hike! Started at 6 am and the summit just after 8. First mile is flat and scenic. Next mile has a little incline and then it gets serious. Last mile was fairly steep but switchbacks. Very well marked trail. A lot of traffic on the way down. The detour to the lake is worth it.

* walked dogs all around the perimeter in 40 minutes, no hurry.
*traffic all around. It's a busy place around here.

I had a great time on the trail today. The road is a but narrow for a full wife truck, but still doable. I was a little disappointed to find Hunter Lake was just a green field. I would definitely do it again in the spring. I didn't pass a single person in the whole entire Trail.

This is probably the most beautiful scenery I've ever experienced on a hike. The trail is just hard enough to get a great work out in without being too difficult. I went after work and made it to Lamoille lake in about 75 minutes.. The only downside was all the mosquitos at the lake. The fish were jumping so much it looked like the lake was boiling! I didn't stay long and made it back to my car just before sunset. I will definitely do this one again!

Gorgeous views from a well maintained trail. Lots of switchback make this a relatively easy climb. The waterfall is definitely a highlight of the hike!

Amazing!

Lovely hike gorgeous views

this trail is an annual ritual for me. it helps me acclimatize to the elevation for longer hikes later in the week

Very easy and also very short. Good for a quick change in scenery if you head north or south on the east side of Lake Tahoe and want to make a quick stop.

Nice hike. The Trail could be better marked, especially in the beginning. Lots of photo ops.

Short, easy hike with beautiful views at the end!

At the end of Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive is a parking area that takes you to many trails including the Bristlecone Pine and Glacier Trail, and the Alpine Lakes trail which takes you to Stella Lake and Teresa Lake. Stella is the bigger and more impressive of the two, as Teresa is more of a pond. Some great scenery along the way, including walking through a grove of aspens, through a dense plush mountain stream area and across open space which gives you a great view of Wheeler Peak and the glacier. Take a picnic lunch.

From the parking area at the end of Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive are several trailheads including the Bristlecone Pine and Glacier Trail, and the Alpine Lakes trail which takes you to Stella Lake and Teresa Lake. Teresa is more of a pond, and the trail does not have as much variety as the trail to Stella Lake, although you see different wildflowers than at Teresa. Teresa Lake is the closest lake to the Bristlecone Pine trail.

Great hike, fantastic views and very few other people!

Beautiful trail!

Love love love it!! Hard hike down with the paddle board I would think but next time I might try to bring it.

Amazing and very challenging hike! Made it to the summit on 5 August, just start early, it will be a lot cooler and try to avoid the thunderstorms by going early. It is colder on top, pack layers. Wear a hat and lots of sunscreen, also trekking poles help. It is a very hard hike but if you take your time, you can complete it. The trail is very rocky, go slow. It is very windy up there. You can see the trail all the way to the summit if you look closely.

Amazing for late night walks with a person.

What a great trail. It starts off with a bit of a steep incline but if you can hang in there it is well worth it. When you get to a grouping of rocks on the right (I think about 1.5 miles in you will want to take a little path off the the left. It takes you to Monkey Rock and some of the best views of Lake Tahoe. My husband and I are over 60 wand managed it well but you definitely want to be in decent shape

Great day hike! Took us a little bit longer than we anticipated (a little under 2.5 hours) as the elevation gains were a bit steep at times, but we are both just starting to get back into shape so that could be why. Great views and lots of spots to see them! Definitely recommend!

Most of the hike was in the sun because of the Gondola fire. Recommend starting early. Beautiful waterfall.

Really nice and picturesque trail leading to a sheltered cove and several small sand beach areas. It's popular with boaters as well, and we saw the Thunderbird there for an excursion. The beaches, like many around the lake, are much smaller again this year due to the high water levels, but don't let that discourage you. This is an easy down hill hike that will reward you with nice views and beaches, followed by a minor workout on the way back up (depending on how much you carry down). Dog friendly. A little bit crowded as it approached noon and later.

Hard to think of alpine lakes and meadows in Nevada but so similar to the Southern Alps. Refreshing after the torrid August desert and mornings are free of traffic which eventually builds up mid morning with friendly families and pets on leash. An alternative to the ubiquitous and obnoxious casino scene.

Nice leisurely trail. Easy for kids alike.

A very nice, yet challenging hike into the sugar pine forest above heavenly. There's a wonderful small waterfall that you pass by as well as several small creeks that you cross. The views are spectacular.

Up to the very top and back clocks in at 7 miles, so i'd advise you to not bring young children on this hike expecting to get to the top. There are some great places to hike to along the way, however, that would make a great short hike.

Bring some water, pack sunscreen, and have proper footwear as I saw a few people in sandals having a very tough go.

Great views with a beautiful lake! The rocks and boulders get a little in the way for runners but I’ll run this trail again for sure!

Beach is quick to get to

Pretty easy. We started around 5 pm and made it up and back before dark. there were A LOT of knats up top. The trail just weaves back and forth up the mountain for a while, but you walk through millions of colorful flowers, then the top of the mountain has some rocks and pine trees. We'll do it again one morning.
