Mistake. Didn’t do this hike (first-time AllTrails app user...).
We did go to the trailhead but the parking lot was closed and there was too much snow. So turned around and did the Tahoe Rim, Tunnel Creek Road trail which was fantastic!

Greeen!

Great views!!! Upper half of the hike was beautiful but stopped in an uneventful way. Had to hike off trail a bit to get to see the highest view of the lake!

Great hike, gorgeous views. Fairly trafficked

Fantastic views! There's still some snow near the top of the trail, but nothing hiking boots can't handle.

Parking is at the cafe at the bottom of the trail. The views for this trail were pretty amazing and the trail is mostly sand and very well maintained. A lot of dogs off leash today. The elevation gain at the beginning of the hike is pretty significant, but the side trail leading to an overlook was a good place to enjoy the view! There was also some snow at the end of the hike before the turnaround. I brought micro spikes, but managed fine in my boots.

Spectacular views. Well maintained. Very easy.

fun hike wonderful views and not too steep an incline and pretty easy trail. slushy snow at the top that got our feet wet. thicker socks and better boots would have solve that though.views well worth the hike

Beautiful hike! You can cut through to take a quick peek of the monkey rock and the beautiful 270 degree view of the lake. Shortcut is a bit steep but well worth it.

Late but we did this hike Thanksgiving Day and it was such a beautiful escape for the morning. My Pup loves to see snow so having some patches up at the top of the hike was perfect for him!

Love trail and views of Lake Tahoe.
Didn’t like the three dog owners that didn’t have their dog on leases.

Gets your heart pumping. Took us one hour to do the 2.4 miles one way up. The way down took approx 35 min. There is a $1 fee for hikers paid via the honor system. Saw a little more doggie doo that I’d expect as Tahoe trails are usually very clean. Trash can at the end was overflowing. Overall a nice hike. I’d do it again.

good views of lake

Good wide trail. Fairly steep sections but mostly on the front end. Beautiful views. First 1.5 miles contain most of the views. Ends at trail head for longer hikes of 5 and 11 miles.

Views to do for! Did it after a light snow. Icy at points, even my snow boots were a little iffy. Was a little jelly of my friend’s ice cleats. Highlight was definitely the Mark Twain bench...most beautiful picnic ever.

Lovely walk along the water with beach access in a couple of places. Beautiful and meditative with benches strategically placed to take in the Lake Tahoe beauty. (We visited in late Fall, during the day on a week day). Looking forward to visiting again.

Great views! Highly recommend.

Hiked in with snow at the 2 mile mark. A couple of off-trail adventures, and back down to see Monkey Rock to round out a 6.8 mile hike in 2 hours. plenty to pic.

If I could put the smell of the trail in a candle I’d burn it forever

Beautiful lake access. Off season only $5 for locals.

Beautiful hike! It was hard to find especially in the snow (October 21, 2017) but is a relatively easy hike. Park at the Tahoe meadow trail head parking lot off of Mt rose high way and County Road 340. Follow the signs for the Tahoe Meadows hike and when you get to the bridge you’ll see a sign for Ophir. We saw a few signs after that but made our own trail a little bit due to the snow. We used the all trail map to get back on the trail. After that it was an easier trail to follow. Mostly flat and downhill on the way out but had some step areas on the way back. We didn’t make it all the way to the lake because there was a large stream that we would have gotten very wet if we crossed. All in all a good hike. The pups loved it and the meadow allowed them to run around a lot!

Was planning to do the Ophir Creek Loop, but due to bad signage and incongruences between signs and the various maps in the park, we ended up getting lost and going all the way to Upper Lake. We were not prepared for the extra end of the trail we accidentally added one. Better signage would be extremely helpful for those of us who are directionally challenged.

Was a beautiful trail, we thoroughly enjoyed.
