Beautiful hike! You can cut through to take a quick peek of the monkey rock and the beautiful 270 degree view of the lake. Shortcut is a bit steep but well worth it.

Late but we did this hike Thanksgiving Day and it was such a beautiful escape for the morning. My Pup loves to see snow so having some patches up at the top of the hike was perfect for him!

Love trail and views of Lake Tahoe.
Didn’t like the three dog owners that didn’t have their dog on leases.

This hike has great views of the lake ! That being said, don’t let the mileage fool you, it’s not a moderate hike. The climb is a constant steep grade on loose slippery soil most of the way. If you are an experienced hiker and in good shape, I would recommend. If you are on vacation just looking for a “nice” hike, there are better choices.

Completed it on 1/1/18. The first mile was hiking, the next 0.5 needed micro spikes, and the last 0.5 needed snow shoes but is passable if you are willing to post hole.

Gets your heart pumping. Took us one hour to do the 2.4 miles one way up. The way down took approx 35 min. There is a $1 fee for hikers paid via the honor system. Saw a little more doggie doo that I’d expect as Tahoe trails are usually very clean. Trash can at the end was overflowing. Overall a nice hike. I’d do it again.

Good wide trail. Fairly steep sections but mostly on the front end. Beautiful views. First 1.5 miles contain most of the views. Ends at trail head for longer hikes of 5 and 11 miles.

First time out with snow shoes. Didn't make it to the top as trail was cut into steep ravine and snowed over completely. Still had a blast and was pretty.

great hike

Take the upper Trail to the top. Lower Trail is a dirt road.

Lovely walk along the water with beach access in a couple of places. Beautiful and meditative with benches strategically placed to take in the Lake Tahoe beauty. (We visited in late Fall, during the day on a week day). Looking forward to visiting again.

My dad came to town and on his last day we decided to do this hike as I live in Tyrolian village at the end of this trail. It was the perfect way to spend our day. We started at mount rose and ended in Tyrolian village. It was easy, fun, all downhill, and beautiful views the entire time! Now I want to take everybody who visits on this trail.

Great views! Highly recommend.

It was still a bit snowy and slippery when I went in mid July so be prepared

Hiked in with snow at the 2 mile mark. A couple of off-trail adventures, and back down to see Monkey Rock to round out a 6.8 mile hike in 2 hours. plenty to pic.

I LOVE this hike. Although it's 10+ miles, it does not feel terrible. The ground is not nearly as rough as some other peaks (Mt. Tallac, for example), and the vegetation reaches higher up in elevation as well.
