The road to the trail is obscure, random unmarked turn off 89/Luther Pass that goes back about 5 miles and since its a bumpy road its about 20 or so minutes driving...stick to the left...eventually you end up at the bottom of the unmarked trailhead. The way up is steep from the beginning. The final climb to the top is steepest. Way back is hard on knees without poles. We did it up and back it in about 4 hours and my sister hadn't been accustomed to hiking, including our break for enjoying the stunning Carson Valley views and filling out the journal in the fun mailbox. Very sentimental for us. We got phone service on the mtn. top. If you have the forethought, bring chalk or something to make some markers starting from the turn off on Luther, so people aren't as clueless LOL

A very rewarding hike. We did it with our 8 and 5 year olds, so it was a slower pace for us. The views were amazing. The greatest reward was how delighted and proud our 8 year old was to reach the summit. It really was a very steep uphill climb the vast majority of the way up. Other reviews describe a more level middle part of the hike up— there wasn’t much of that, to be honest. But really, a fantastic hike. So glad we did it.

Steep in quite a few sections but beautiful all the way up. Still a little smokey so the views didn’t extend as far as they could’ve.

You can drive all the way to the trail head, and park much closer than this map indicates. This hike is NOT easy, I am not sure who rated it, but i t needs to be changed. The first 60% of this hike is very steep, it calms down for the next 30% and is pretty steep again for the last 10%.

The scenery is beautiful on the back side of Job's peak as you climb up. Once you reach the top the views are phenomenal!

I would not rate this hike as easy. It starts climbing steeply from the beginning. One good thing is that you can drive further than the map(s) indicate thereby cutting a mile off of the hike. The trail is easy to follow but steep until the ridge between Jobs and Jobs Sister. From there the going is easier
Until the final push for the summit. There are several trails that traverse to the summit depending on the amount of snow. Don’t worry they all lead to the same point. The views are great of Carson Valley,Hope Valley, and Lake Tahoe basin.

All around, a beautiful hike. We did this on my birthday last November and it was the perfect peak bagging trip for turning a year older! There is a geo cache at the top, so sign the ledger and leave something for others. A very fun experience for my whole family.

most technical thing about this trail is a bunch of loose rocks and a few turns.
the drive itself isn't much to write home about, but the ending is worth the drive for a nice weekend or evening out.

We hiked Job's Peak as the third peak in the Tahoe Triple Crown which includes Freel Peak, Job's Peak and Job's sister. It was a crazy windy day with gusts over 50mph at Job's sister. The descent down the back side of Job's Sister was crazy sandy and very deep. We slid most of the way down. 12 miles in total. A GREAT way to spend the day, but would avoid a super windy day. For the most part, the trails were easy to follow. We have a full write up of all of the peaks at http://hustzkergies.blogspot.com/2016/09/TahoeTripleCrown.html

I found this trail to be difficult going up, but the view was definitely worth it. The whole hike took us maybe 3 hours, if I am remembering correctly and was close enough for a lovely afternoon in the Potholes.

Beautiful hike but not for the out of shape. 2 good hours of constant uphill hiking but worth it when you get to the top! Trail is very easy to follow. Coming down much quicker. Trailhead is not marked and navigating the forest service road that takes you in can be tricky.
