Gorgeous hike but somewhat hard to follow. Once you pass the beaver ponds, cross the river and stay on the trail. There’s another (marked, but less traveled) trail up the right side of the canyon that ends on a rock ledge with no path to the upper valley. Also, there is very little shade (many trees were killed in the recent fire), so bring water and start early.

One of my new fav trails in the Vegas area. Rewarding trail with a nice shady path. Steep and rocky, so wear some good sturdy shoes. There are also a lot of nice benches along the trail, so you can always take a break with a view.

Short, cute trail. Lots of rocks! Flowing water sounds relaxing. Most of the hike is uphill.

Cute little trail! No real elevation gain; was mostly flat. Single track trail so go early or late. We went around 630am and only saw a handful of other people and 3 dogs. There are still some cool wildflowers and green areas. Keep your map open at the beginning because there are a lot of intersecting trails. Also don't go up the stairs towards the back of the loop; you have to use the rocks to cross the creek in front of the drainage pipes. Kinda weird. We had a great time and would definitely do this one again. Its in a park with a bunch of other trails so you can easily extend your hike.

Great little trail! was about 0.75 miles from the parking lot to the N. Parking lot had plenty of spots. Definitely go early or late because there's no shade. We went about 630am and it was perfect; we didn't see anyone else. Views of Reno towards the top are beautiful! The N is cool too. It only gets a little steep/rocky towards the top before the N, the rest is pretty flat. I wore hiking shoes so I was OK but I can see how that part would be slippery with just tennis shoes. We cut across to the Evans Canyon Trail on our way back down and did that too. Everything took a little over 2 hours. Thank you!

The trail needs maintenance. Especially considering you have to pay $5 to get in. It was very overgrown in some areas. However, there was some nice sights and wildlife.

I love this hike, did it with my little sister who has never been hiking before. She did well. I would consider this easy although there are some boulders you have to climb. Leads to an amazing view.

For hiking, Don’t go to suggested trail, It’s too busy with ATV’s (dangerous) and very dusty, however the Kingsbury Stinger Trail and Tahoe Ridge trail is SO BEAUTIFUL. I really enjoyed it, especially 6 miles in brings you to a wonderful view of Carson City. Check out my recording to see the route I highly recommend

OHV/Off Road Driving

Awesome moderate trail! Rocky in a few places but nothing technical. Went in my stock TRD Off-Road and no issues at all. Actual trail is about 11 miles and then a mile and a half paved road into town. Didn’t pass anyone else the whole time and loved knowing that there wouldn’t be any minivans or suburbans

Absolutely amazing however, next trip will be up Upper Thomas creek to dry pond and back the way we came to avoid the long trekking on Timberline.

Parking is tricky on the highway, be careful. Not a marked trail, starts at the green gate. Definitely wear a hiking shoe/sandal. Can be a little deserted on the trail. There was a spot were you could turn a few different ways, but just go straight. If you're not used to hiking, beware that the way back is a pretty steep incline 1.4 miles. Could be tough for some. I don't think small children would enjoy it at all. The beach at the bottom is so beautiful, although small. Not a lot of sandy areas, but there are some rocks to lounge on. Overall loved it and would go again!

Went here this week. Small parking lot was full at 9:30am on a Tues. Parked across the street on the highway. Pretty short trail to the beach. Easy on the way down. The trail is very easy if you're hiker, as it isn't much of a hike. Most people I saw were wearing flip flops headed down to the beach and bringing a lot of belongings, but I wouldn't recommend that. There is a steep incline/rocks, so at least wearing hiking sandals/shoes. The beaches at the bottom are gorgeous and probably my favorite in Tahoe. On the way back, there are many ways to go so I can see how people could get lost, so try to remember the way you came.

Make sure to use the trail used for hikers. Lovely hike, well maintained trail. We try and do this hike at least once a year. One of our favorites!
