This trail is amazing! We turned it into a loop and the elevation change was in basically the first 3 miles. Would do again.

Clear climb 1:25 above x top

not a lot of shade but if you do it in the morning you'll be fine and also avoid the large amount of people that like to go to the waterfall part

Great hike with cooler conditions (60’s). A cloudy day with wind. First 2.5 miles is an elevation gain of about 1800 feet. Nice lake with good places to enjoy the views. Good views of Lake Tahoe as well. Would recommend this hike!

Best view and hike I’ve been! Amazing

STEEP climb, but worth it!

Great mountain biking trail. Not too technical, but it does have a lot of sand and a few drop-offs.

This is a great hike. It’s one of my go-to’s if I want trees, shade, and water. I take my twin boys on this trail a lot and it is not that difficult. We usually continue past the large bridge and onto a vista point headed to Kings Canyon. There are picnic tables and places to sit along the trail. Watch out for mountain bikes! We usually start in the morning around 8 or evening around 5pm to miss the heat. We have come across large snow pack up into the late part of April.

A beautiful hike only matched by the beauty of the waterfall.

just a short 2 mikes that I went to try out the new boots and stretch my body out after surgery. great views of Carson City and you get just to the pine tree level on the short part of the hike.

Too many people

A climb almost all the way. Small Camp site with bear boxes at the lake. Good fishing spot. No signal to start the recording on the way back. But a little faster coming out since it’s almost all down hill. Well traveled and not really trail conditions as it is a road all the way. Lots of horses too.

Went to the trail spot and went the wrong way. Completed another hike and it turned out great. Lots of incline but worth the view!

Look at the grade on the map! It’s like an excitebike jump! Uphill for sure, lake is really pretty, not a ton of people. Easy to follow path. Great view of Washoe, while catching breath.

This trail is highly recommended!!! It was pretty easy. This Trail is Well Maintinance in most areas. On the way back it can be a bit tricky. I went with a big group but won’t do that again. The views were great, the weather was perfect. It did get really cold by the lake, but all and all a great day hike.

another trip to one of my favorite local getaways... Still some snow, not too hot. Got to the lake early, but was overrun by people by lunch. Memorial day weekend and first day outta quarantine contributed to this... was still worth the effort!!

Mostly uphill at the beginning, fallen trees along the way but the lake was worth it.

Great trail to do in spring or late fall due to lack of shade cover and sun exposure. Also no water so bring some for your fur friends. I love the rock formations and the wildflowers are in full bloom. Great views of Genoa, Freel and Jobs Peaks and you can see clear our to Raymond Peak in the Mokelumne Wilderness. Lots of mountain bikers.

Good place for a nice morning hike

Challenging elevation gain and length for a great hike. Following the fire road makes it a bit easier. Beautiful views of the valley and the reservoir is a nice treat at the end. Parts of the fire road are fine gravel.

Park a little further south then what the trail head on all trails says and you’ll find some nice stairs to get you down the first steep part, the rest is pretty even down, even up. The whales rock is pretty cook to see and the views are great. Overall a nice distance hike for a workout and view.

Careful where you park, they WILL ticket you!

Amazing hike! Took 3 hours with with an 8 and 6 year old. Great views, wildflowers, butterflies, and lizards. A lot of mountain bikers that were all very friendly and respectful.

This trail is okay, might be a little difficult to follow and not that scenic but not bad.

Really short hike, this waterfall is beautiful. There’s another trail to the upper waterfall which is okay but not as nice as this one.

Beautiful secluded coves. Make sure you follow the trail carefully or you’ll end up on the wrong spot

Trail is VERY steep at the beginning but totally worth the views at the top! It’s about a 2,000 for incline within the first 2 miles. The way back was not hard at all since it’s downhill. The lake was a nice stopping point and great views!
