Explore the most popular lake trails near Boulder City with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

We did only a small section of this trail. We walked .2 miles to a view point that looked into the gorge where there was a waterfall below. We did not go further into the trail as it was midday and there is not one tree on this trail. It's just flat, treeless terrain. Though at the trailhead it says the trail is not maintained, at least the section we walked seemed well maintained, rock lined paths. Not sure how the rest of the loop is.

Excellent views!

Nice well pathed trail up to one of the Black Mountain peaks. Easily accessible to the top in one hour for the experienced hiker. Short switchbacks with cool rock formations make it interesting to ascend with excellent views of both the Strip and Lake Mead at the peak.

A great getaway from the busy hiking locations near Lake Mead! This trail features quite a few pour overs/dry water falls that require some minor scrambling/bouldering/climbing to overcome. Each pour over has an easy side path in case your party is not a fan of climbing or bouldering though!

Once you are past the saddle, you can continue on to the Cholla Forest before returning to the trailhead.

This trail is definitely "off-trail" and is in full-sun with minimal shade. Definitely pack water and sunscreen before heading out!

It should be named “Riadside Truckstop” Trail!

I always enjoy running on this trail when I come to town. It is well maintained and mostly used by bikers.

beautiful. there are a lot of things to explore off trail. just be careful not to disturb the fragile ground.

Awesome! Great trail with some amazing 360 views if you make it to the top!

awesome pics

Short touristy walk across the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge. Good photo op for Hoover Dam pics.

Not much of a hike, but the dogs liked it. Easy parking - well marked trail down to river. Mostly rocky shoreline. Probably not the best location for a family picnic. Good for a jaunt down to river and back. Some people fishing and said they have caught bluegill and bass. Lots of carp.

great trail. nice size parking lot at trail head, well marked, great views as you head up hill, good hiking surface of hard packed crushed rocks. All in all a great hiking experience.

Kayaked from the dam to willow beach, great trip, took a lunch break at AZ side hot springs.

Great trail! Simple switchbacks up to a false summit, where you have two options to proceed: a bike path (Red Mountain) or another couple of switchbacks and ridgewalks to Black Mountain summit, where Lake Mead is actually visible. We chose to turn around and head back at the false summit because it was getting dark and we had to continue driving.

Summary: easy, rewarding, dog friendly. Ample parking and not a crowded trail. Would highly recommend.

The long winding lead up to the switchbacks is confusing but well marked if you're paying attention. Don't confuse the path with the bike paths.

Short walk to a great view of Hoover Dam.

It's a nice, short walk to the dam. Very enjoyable.

Starting from the Nevada side of the road that crosses over the dam is a free roadside parking area that allows you to park while you cross the Mike O'Callaghan and Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge completed in 2010. Easy walk with fantastic views of Hoover Dam. 1905 feet long 880 feet above the Colorado River, the bridge is made of 30,000 cubic yards of concrete and 16,000,000 pounds of steel. An engineering feat, the bridge was completed using the original $240M budget. Spans from each side met in the middle within 9.5mm. Well-planned!

Wow what a view of Hoover Dam from above on the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The trail goes from the Nevada side of the bridge to the Arizona side. This is another great way to see Hoover Dam.

Hoping this would be an ok running trail, I was pleasantly surprised by the view and, while not a great running trail, the moderate technical (1,200 ft+ climb, rocks, scree) aspect. Good for morning/evening hikes in summer (not much shade), and nice views of LV and Lake Mead/BC. Bring water.

Had a great time hiking yesterday with my wife ... well worth the view when you get to the top ..

Completed this trail loop in about an hour. Area is under construction and is open to hikers during the weekend and holidays. Not the most scenic but still an interesting hike with different elevations. Some wildlife was roaming around, like a coyote that caught a fish in the wash.

I expanded the hike to Battleship Island which is no longer that. The hike ends up being 5.7 miles round-trip. It is interesting seeing the items that used to be underwater - sunken boat, mussel shells - and walking along land-bridges from one land-mass to another.

Great hike and pretty easy as well. No steep inclines and trail is maintained very well. Easy hike.
