this is a beautiful trail! friendly dogs and runners, great walk for our pups. we followed the trail to the campground and were given a wonderful lake and mountain view from the beach! would do again, maybe not in winter (we did this in January) as the windchill was incredible.

I hiked this and several other trails alongside the highway down to the lake. There isn’t a ton of parking, so I just parked wherever and bushwhacked my own trail down to the path. It is very steep at the top, so be mindful of this, I had to crawl and use my hands to pull me up. There are stairs in a couple spots, so kudos to you if you park near them and use them.
I won’t say too much about the beach, I almost hate to say anything because it is a jewel. I was there by myself for over an hour. It was one of the better moments I’ve had in this life. Plenty of little bluffs and coves you can scramble and bushwhack to, I kept myself entertained between all the trails for a few hours.

Love this trail year round but especially when I can swim at the bottom!

Great for an evening after work, or for a more relaxing afternoon. Nice place to swim and snorkel at the bottom!

best views ever! easy paved roads pet friendly. must see!!

Very easy, semi-scenic walk. A beautiful place to spend a couple of hours doing laps. Great with the dogs.

Got lost on another trail and ended up here. Absolutely beautiful and so worth getting lost for. Perfect spot for lunch and even got to hang out with a chipmunk. The views are amazing.

This was a great hike! We went in late November, so there was ABSOLUTELY no one on the trail. It’s mostly downhill on the way down, so it’s quite the climb coming up, but totally worth it! The beach and the house at the bottom was beautiful and a great place to rest. Highly recommend!

Great simple walk w the dog! Beautiful scenery.

Easy trail, quite a few people, but a nice place to watch the sunset.

This was my favorite hike of the trip. Not particularly busy (though it was a Monday) and it was so peaceful. It was pretty easy too. The trailhead is in a weird place and there isn't a whole lot of signage, but the trail is really big and easy to follow. My favorite part was the little trails everywhere that shot you out into different parts of the main trail!

Great out and back trail. Parking is in a small lot and also a turnout beside a gate on the main road. Both places join the main trail.
Good quality path all the way down to the sandy beaches. Great for dogs. Stunning views.
Return walk is all uphill but not difficult.

Beautiful easy trail !

Great trail down to the sand beaches with crystal water. Very easy and has a perfect length. Our dog also enjoyed it a lot off leash.

Easy trail. The water is crystal clear, and the scenery is beautiful.

This trail should not be rated as easy. sure, I attempted it on my 36" unicycle rather than a regular bicycle, but still. It's very long with a lot of steep climbs. Should be a great trail on a road bike. I made it over 20 miles on the unicycle before it got dark and I had to call an uber to get back to my car.

Beautiful walk down to a small secluded beach.

This is an easy trail
With fun side trails to explore. It is not a hard trail and not a long hiking trail. Take this trail if your looking for a nice walk with your wife or girlfriend. (Not both might get you in trouble lol). The beach is awsome and there was joone on it due to the campground being closed for the season.

Very pretty, peaceful trail.
I went on a somewhat stormy day so I didn’t come across to many people.
Trail easy to locate, a little odd because you begin basically walking on a sidewalk in a neighborhood. Lots of parking.
Trail passes through a magical little creek tucked amongst a grove of aspen trees.
Trail is very dog friendly! However when you reach Nevada beach there is only a very small section where dogs are allowed :(

It was a pretty easy trail to take and the views at the bottom on the lake are amazing. I went on a Friday and I only came across 5 people the whole time

This was a lovely dirt trail down to a cute little secluded beach. We only made it down to the chimney beach and back as we had a 5 year old and 3 year old on foot and a 1 year old in a carrier. Would recommend this short portion as family and kid friendly.

Had an excellent day along this stretch of the Rim Trail. Went to the top of Freel Peak, although it didn't look as though it was taller than Jobs Sister. Maybe they should re-measure. Star Lake is beautiful, several people had set up camp nearby and looked quiet pleasant. Loved it!

A nice urban walk Well planned and heavy use for a Monday afternoon in October. Our dogs really enjoyed it.

Absolutely beautiful

We really enjoyed this hike. Walked it yesterday With my brother, his wife, and my wife. If it weren’t for the river swim this hike wouldn’t have been worth it.
We started with the right fork and were very glad we did that. We started pretty late in the day (11) and it was pretty warm. Definitely would advise people to start a little earlier and bring lots of water. The trail has lots of paths you could follow so use the all trails app map to keep yourself on the right path. We had to backtrack 3-4 times to stay on track. We found the waterfall first but there’s no way down to the bottom there. We found a path right to the river by going to the left of the waterfall and finding a very easy way right to the waters edge. The water was very cold and very refreshing. Without this swim the hike wouldn’t have been worth it in the extreme heat we had. After our swim we just walked back the way we came because it was 1300 hrs and too warm to go the long way back.

Overall because of the swim and the great views I would highly recommend people to take the right fork of the trail and just come back after a swim.

We been coming to Lake Tahoe for decades now and never knew this trail was here. Nice trail that is well used and marked. Nice down by the water.
