I hiked the full loop of around the lake. (7.2 miles)
West side poses more of a challenge due to talker grass. East side of the lake is more geared toward day campers, trails more maintained. Over all Great Lake views and a good day hike .

We walk here all the time. It’s the best park in Omaha for a long walk. You will however see a lot of people here, so if you are looking for a secluded area you might want to go to a park outside of city limits. That being said we enjoy this park! You see deer, birds, turkeys, hear owls in the evening and there are also tons of mulberry trees in the summer months.

We walk here 4-5 times a week and seen Turkeys, geese, turtles, deer.....

I enjoyed this hike. The lake is really pretty. Lake trails can be pretty flat and boring, but this trail runs through forest and prairie and had some ups and downs. I appreciated going through different landscapes. I did find, as others said, that while the east side of the trail is well maintained, the west side is pretty overgrown. The trail gets pretty hard to make out. But I just followed the map on here to make sure I was going in the right direction, and that worked pretty well. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BUG SPRAY AND WEAR A HAT. I go hiking a lot and bugs are obviously inevitable, but it was excessive here. Found five ticks on me when I got home, probably from walking through the very tall foliage on the west side of the trail. I think next time I would hike the east side up to highway 36 and just turn around and hike back the same way instead of doing the loop. But I still would recommend!

Great, secluded place to hike close to the city. Just don’t forget to douse yourself in bug spray! This hike is listed as easy, but I disagree. Much of the hike is in and out of ravines, which means a good deal of hiking uphill. I went in the late afternoon on a Saturday, and saw deer and turkeys. There were only a few other cars in the lot when I arrived so the trails are not busy. I enjoyed the solitude as I only crossed paths with one other hiker. I would think this might be a difficult hike for toddlers and it is not at all fit for strollers. The trails are decently maintained and I will definitely hike here again!

Was going to do this after I couldn't do the other one. Got ate up by mosquitos and only got .05 into route, called it quits. Also there was a car parked next to me as I was starting on trail and felt very uncomfortable leaving my car, acted like crackheads, so I left for home, no walk for me today. bummer. Don't forget you're insect spray, will definitely need it.

I always enjoy hiking at Neale Woods! The trails were pretty well maintained for the most part, well labeled, and there are maps available at the front entrance. The views of downtown Omaha at the beginning are amazing. Worth coming just to see, even if you don’t hike. But there are also some really pretty trails through the prairie, the woods, and on a hilltop. The hike can be easy or more challenging, depending on what trails you take. The recording on here only has like 2 miles, but I did almost 5 when I went, and I definitely could have done more. There’s got to be at least 8 miles of trails if not more. I like this hike because it’s only a 20 min drive from Omaha, but is completely secluded! Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Great place to take a walk! Easy paved path with scenic views of the lake and surrounding forest. Also seems like a great place to ride your bike if you like that since the path is very smooth and flat. Not sure why it’s labeled moderate, it was easy. But some of the curves may be more difficult on a bike. Will have to do the full loop around the lake sometime.

Decent trail and nice for a quick ride near our home. On the downside there are tons of people which today included several groups
Of teenagers smoking marijuana and an Asian outdoor party that was playing karaoke loud enough it could be hard across the lake.

Pretty annoyed that I drove all the way out here just to see a “no pets allowed on property”. Turned around and left without getting out of the car

Much more accessible in late-fall/early-winter/spring. Decent foliage and for the most part, not many people on the west side.

I ran this loop for the G.O.A.T.z Trail Run and I really enjoyed it. The views of the water are beautiful and it was a peaceful run. Gotta watch out for horse droppings as parts of it are also equestrian trails but I look forward to running here again soon.

really nice trail for walking, running, jogging or for bicycles.

Really liked this. Even though I don't like walking on asphalt or paved paths due to feet issues, I still give it 5 stars. Scenery constantly changing between water to natural habitat to beautiful large homes back to water and then on and on. It's a winding path with majority of path blocked from traffic sounds. Only the loopdy-loop is noisy. Bicyclists, dog walkers, speed walkers, and other walkers/runners are frequenting it as well but all were friendly. Bicyclists would announce themselves when approaching from behind. I would definitely of this again if I was in town longer or coming back to visit family again. There are lots km & mile markers along the path and stations to grab a plastic bag to pick up your dogs mess.

Unkept trails very hard for a bike to get through, I would not recommend this trail for biking.

East side of the lake is very walkable up until Hwy 36. The west side of the lake not so much. Trails are barely visible and it seems to be more for for horseback trailing. Used Hwy 36 to cross the north side of the lake because I couldn't find a crossover due to the higher water level.

The trail was badly in need of mowing & hard to find in many places. My Garmin showed 6.5 miles of trail that I rode. Beautiful park!

Good little hike in the Omaha area. Took us about an hour walking at a slow to moderate pace. Great views of downtown Omaha at the beginning. Trail was pretty well kept for the most part. The forest you walk through is also really nice. Only complaint was the amount of bugs, but that should be expected when walking through a forest in the Spring/Summer. So don't forget to bring the DEET!

Good for a nice stroll. Relaxing to be by the lake.

Nice trail to walk, has something to see all along the trail.

Followed the paths along the lake, great time and meet lots of friendly people.

Not my favorite as a trail to walk my dog on. A number of the cyclists seem to act like they "own" the trail. Rarely did anyone announce themselves if they were coming up behind me to pass, and a couple of times side-by-side riders pretty much took up most of the path so I had to go to the edge and have my dog walk in the grass.

My favorite place to hike in the omaha area

Really a beautiful man made lake with paved walking/ biking paths. Not as many trees as we'd've liked but still a nice mild walk.

Flat, paved, and well maintained. The drawback is a lack of windbreak.

Nice trail. Kind of scenic. Lots of covered areas. Very busy and crowded. Recent rain made it so that the road had to be crossed instead of using the rain. I would recommend this trail at times when not so busy.
