Such a beautiful hike, like others have said go in the morning on a cooler day. The heat can make it a pretty difficult hike. The directions it gave us on here were very wrong for finding the trailhead. Overall a beautiful hike will definitely do it again. .

Amazing overlook, surprised by the width and depth of it. Worth the drive up!

definitely a great hike with PHENOMENAL views. the road up is a white knuckle adventure so be careful. the directions were not accurate so check with other web sites for the correct route. short hike to the lake with incredible scenery.

Good trail to build the legs. All up hill beautiful falls at the top. I’m just a beginner.

Great hike. Starts off with a few sections of climbing, then levels out a bit. Has a great rock garden area with large granite boulders then opens up with a few cathedral views of Boulder fields and some cliff faces. A couple of switch backs later and you are at the falls. Great spot for lunch.

AMAZING views- I can’t imagine any better! The view from the bench was great, but I agree if you’re a little more brave go to the trail on the other side of the rock wall it will take your breath away! GORGEOUS!!!

One of the best views of all time!

The road to get up there is well maintained to the point I was able to take my car up there with no trouble! Beautiful drive up! The trail is not through the gate, but is instead the skinny trail from the parking lot. Gorgeous hike up and not a bad climb due to the switchbacks, beautiful view once you reach the top and if you feel like going higher than the bench follow the trail up to a rock ledge and the view is even more stunning!

Beautiful trail. Well worth the hike. I would consider the trail easy to moderate. Park near the gate but go up the skinner trail. We started hiking the gate way but trail was not maintained and lots of dead forest on that side.

Enjoyed revisiting this trail and introducing it to a friend. we traversed close to two miles to enjoy the lower falls. I am on O2 (4L), but made it!
The creek was high, so I couldn't let the kids slide down the rocks into the swim pools. Our puppy enjoyed it too!

Great hike. Rained the entire time but trail was a in good shape. No visibility but still pretty spectacular. I can only imagine what it would be on a clear day.

Spectacular views for such a short & easy hike. Completed in under 1.5 hours round trip on the evening of 6/15/18. Snow is all gone, although it did hail during my ascent. Counted 22 not steep switchbacks and one longer stretch at the very end.

Make sure to use directions to bear creek OVERLOOK trail, different from bear creek trailhead. Looong & precarious dirt road up to the trailhead, not for the faint of heart. When you get to the end of the dirt road, there is a gate stopping further access. Do not follow the road past the gate, take the trail up into the forest on your left. There are two trails, one straight up and one slightly to the south that switches back and forth the whole way up. These two trails cross each other frequently, but the switchback way is nice and easy to follow. Enjoy the incredible views!!

There are just a few spots where the trail is muddy or under 1-2” or water, but they are easy to cross and totally worth it to see the waterfalls as roaring as they are right now. Tons of wildflowers and butterflies. Great hike!

Beautiful hike we camped for the night! Trail was dry almost all way but right before you get to the reservoir the creek was overflowing... only about 8 inches deep if that but there were logs and walking sticks to get over it though... pics have been posted too

Great experience for my first time overnight backpacking. Nice wide trail most of the way, we had to wade across some over flow (below knee deep) just before reaching the reservoir . The reservoir has very clear water and beautiful surrounding views. Limited camping spots but we had a grand time.

Easy. Beautiful. The creek is very high right now, but if you go later in the summer, there are some sweet swimming holes above the falls a bit. Lots of wildflowers today, and lots of people on the trail. Most folks only go to the falls, though, so if you hike further there's less traffic.

beautiful trail I couldn't get to the reservoir yesterday though due to flooding

Absolutely beautiful.
Very easy to do. Not steep at all.

Heavily populated and not hard to find people.

Amazing hike, beautiful view would be really simple without snow. Still quite a bit of snow be prepared to step and fall in if you don’t have snow shoes also be prepared to have no trail to follow.

Great hike. Falls were amazing! Trail was good, a few muddy spots and water running over trail.

This trail was mostly great all around. Didn’t run into any snow, but some flooding over trail. The only problem I have with the trail is that to get down to the road, the first .6 ish miles are a strep downhill. This isn’t bad until you’re at the end of 9 miles and then have to go up. Other than that, the view is worth it!! BEAUTIFUL!

amazing waterfall, lots of water coming down the trail right now but you can get around it. easy hike as far as I was concerned

Many of the descriptions people have posted are incorrect. This is a great hike with several potential destinations. The first are a series of falls about 2 miles in. This area is spectacular and fairly busy. Many hikers stop here. At about 3 miles you cross the creek on either a sketchy log or by wading. From there you have several miles of flat thick forest to hike through. At around 7 miles you reach a series of bedrock creek cascades that are gorgeous. This is a possible camp location as well. Once you progress beyond this, there are fairly frequent flat and relatively open areas if you want to camp below Bryan lake. At about 8 miles, you hit Bryan lake. When we did this trail in 2015, there were quite a few logs over the trail in the upper reaches. I don’t know if they have been cleared since.

This is a beautiful hike. There’s a variety of terrain and I would rate it as moderate. Lots of shady area right along the creek. It climbs at a constant pace so definitely a nice moderate workout. This is one of my favorites.

Beautiful scenery! Snow the last 1.5 miles.

Deadfall. Depressing views.

Totally love this hike. By far my favorite..

Beautiful hike with opportunities to get in the creek. Just be careful driving to the trailhead, still a lot of ice and snow!

Love this trail for an any time hike. there was about 6 inches of snow this time and lots of opportunity for beautiful pictures. We went about 3 miles in and hiked out in the dark. Trailer is well marked with no issue finding our way out.

loved the hike. great views.
