Stunning, spectacular, exquisite, magical...

Love this hike, first part is rather steep and you're in the open with no cover but the tree cover comes back and it's not bad at all. There's a beautiful waterfall in the beginning and the upper lake has phenomenal small fish fishing. Worth a day hike easily!

Nice trail, easy enough for kids. A little bit of a challenge for my 4 year old to navigate the rocks but he had a blast. we will go back for sure. It was hard to follow the directions since there was no sign marking the turn off into west fork road from Red Lodge, we finally found it.

This was a tough hike! Very fun! Lasted a few hours. Highly recommended!

We only went 2 miles up. The sign to start the trail is not clear, no mention of the falls. There is no shade the first 1.5 miles. We were looking for the falls. we finally noticed a trickle on the MT and not sure if that was it. Definitely not the water falls I was expecting. It started to get nice after 1.5 miles so maybe the rest is better. The fire really made it barren those first 1.5 miles.

Great hike. Definitely going back to check out all the lakes. There was a lot of traffic!

This is my favorite trail but the incline is grueling. Takes me about 1:45 to get to the top. I just hiked it yesterday and I think I’m good for the rest of the summer.

Great hike. Beautiful lake. It is an uphill walk with the first 3 miles thru a burn area, so not quite as scenic. Couple of semi tricky creek crossings for the over 60 group. No snow on the trail.

great hike ♡ a little longer hike for a day hike but nice gradual incline so it's very enjoyable on the way up and down. the lake was stunning and peacful. I highly recommend it and will go again.

Great day hike. Pleasant trail with some beautiful views. Went all the way to the Meadows and back.

Good views with a Good trail for beginners. We will go again

Unfortunately we headed down river at the start of this trail instead of upriver & so cannot do a relevant review. However we did trek 14k out & back in total & it was a very picturesque trek. We had the river rapids for company the whole way & stopped half way for a picnic lunch on a rock with lovely vista. No sign of any bears although we did have beat spray at the ready.

Great hike!! did not make it to the lake because of the snowcover.

So incredibly beautiful. Definitely worthy of repeating

Great starter hike for our lazy pups. Beautiful wildflowers at the trailhead of loop one.

What a nice and easy trail to hike!

Gorgeous and willow creek is in full glorious swing

Really great little hike for the kids and old dog. We will definitely hit this one again!

We hiked this with our 8 and 4 year old. For the youngest it was a bit challenging and we turned around after a hour. Beautiful sights and cute bridges to cross.

Fantastic Memorial Day hike. One of my favorite trails. We decided to turn back before we got to the upper lake due to the snow, but it was still fantastic. We went early morning and had the trail to ourselves on the way in and met a couple folks on the way out. We even did a bit of trail running.

Great first hike of the year! Only made it to the lower lake due to too much snow. Would definitely like to do this hike again when the snow melts.

Family hike was great was no sweat would go again!1

Beautiful trail, runs along the river the whole time! Even got to see a moose! As stated earlier, poor trail markers. First 4 Miles were clear of snow, last mile still had a lot of snow on it, which made finding the turn off to the lake impossible. The view from the bridge was awesome!

So far one of my favorites yet challenging incline right from the start. The views were worth it. We camped the night near the waterfall. Very beautiful. Lake was amazing. Ran into a momma and baby moose as well as a bear

Such a great hike! Definitely not easy but worth the sweat. We only made it to the lower lake, there was too much snow to get to the second one. We saw a mom and baby moose not far from the trailhead, and loved the abandoned cabins!

great trail, for every level!!

Beautiful hike (last August) with a lovely stream / small falls before the lake. It started raining near the top, but we kept going and felt peace at the lake with rain and solitude.

We plan on returning with the kids. Great walk. Dog friendly. Very easy.

This is one of my favorite backpacking trips. Not very difficult. I spent 3 days doing this out and back because it was so beautiful. Day 1, I drove to the Lake Ford Trailhead from Great Falls, MT and immediately hit the trail. I found this trail to be a steady up-hill most of the way. I ended up spending my first night at Keyser Brown lake, in a nice open meadow next to the lake. Day 2 I made the short trip up to September Morn lake and once again made camp for the night. After setting up camp, I took the switchback trail up to Sundance Pass. Amazing views...absolutely incredible. Pictures do not do this trip justice. That night, after returning to camp, a furious thunderstorm blew through. The thunder really booms and echos off the mountain walls surrounding September Morn...and the hail that came down was a sight to see. Day 3 I woke up early and started the hike back to the Lake Fork Trailhead...I believe it was just about 10 miles from September Morn. I encountered more hail on my way out. Overall, it was a great 3 day trip. I loved camping next to the lakes. The elevation wasn't too challenging. I'll upload some pictures from my trip. This is a PERFECT beginner backpacker trip. Highly recommend this.

Should have brought snowshoes. But it was a beautiful hike for me, my sweetie & our labs.
