Nice, short hike. I would not classify this as easy due to the steep trail. Gorgeous views. We went on hottest part of day and saw one deer. Driving road to trail wasn’t bad at this time of year (July). No reception on hike. We did not encounter a single person on the entire trail. I would definitely do this hike again.

Beautiful, easy trail. Great for dogs! If you come to a confusing intersection with other trails, just follow the signs for trail 9.0 and look for the little recreation area logo on the tree.

If you go right along the Sam Braxton turn uphill on the 9.0 trail and then follow the GPS when you get to the loop. Really nice hike. Great vistas.

Beautiful Saturday, warm temps & the Lupine was spectacular & fragrant!

Amazing views! Wildflowers were in bloom and provides an excellent splash of color to the already green landscape. The trail provided a great hike on this Memorial Day and has left a lasting impression of the beauty that Missoula has in its vast surroundings. I recommend this trail to anyone that wants a taste of country hiking close to town. Awesome!

This was a great little solo hike that took up about 4 hours of my morning. Sound of the creek was relaxing and gives a opportunity to cool off when needed.

I think it’s a trail that’s more interesting for mountain biking. Very little views.

I created a nice loop about 4.5 miles heading out along the river on Kim Williams Nature Trail, then turn up Hellgate Canyon Trail to the summit of Mount Sentinel, then down the face of Mount Sentinel on the M trail. This gives you a much more interesting ascent, and more gradual though still hard work, through beautiful forest with occasional views of the river. Still some snow on the trail in patches but I was fine in sneakers. We didn’t meet anyone else on the mountain coming up that way on a Saturday morning. Lovely to have the trail to ourselves. Coming down the M was busy.

This is trail is still very snowy with bad ice in some spots. I highly recommend wearing snow cleats. I didn’t bring cleats so I had to turn around at the switchback because I couldn’t even make it up that without falling. Will try again in a month or so.

Although this is not a very long trail I found it to be a pretty intense climb. It had beautiful views and I was rewarded with paragliders when I reached the summit. Would definitely go again!

I would rate this as a moderate to easy walk. The day I went there was lots of foot traffic and I was the only person who didn’t have a dog with them

Nice little hike to the top, not too difficult, after the "m" it gets quiet and offers wonderful views of the ancient lake bed now known as missoula...

Love this hike. Beautiful area. I wish people were better about cleaning up after their dogs.

Trail i frequent the most, easy and beautiful if you make to to the summit!

Pretty trail, marked poorly though

Alright trail. The views were mostly obscured by trees, but if you go left on trail 24.1 at the "end" of this trail, you can get to an overlook pretty quickly. Stay on 24.1 (don't veer right into 28.3) and it'll be pretty obvious when you get there. There's what looks line a split in the trail but really the one to the right just goes to a slightly higher overlook and comes right down next to the lower one, so go either way.

Hiked the M in late-April at the recommendation of a local. Nice little introduction to Missoula.

It was really fun! I would say it's more of a moderate hike, it's kind of steep. if you have knee problems bring support. it was short and enjoyable.

Nice loop. Map at the trailhead is helpful as loop crosses several other routes in the forrest.

Decent enough hike, you can make it as long or short as you want. Trail sections off at many points and even has a trail going to the top of Mt Sentinel.

One of the prettiest hikes around missoula! I wouldn't call it an "easy" hike. I definitely would not bring my two kids up to it (7 & 4)..... unless I planned on it being an whole day event. Most of the hike is uphill but gorgeous the entire way.

Just a short hike up to the top for some excellent views of the Selway-Bitterroot. Some snow to deal with as of mid june but very doable.

Beautiful trail! Very uphill but worth the walk. Well maintained and suprisingly quiet for the amount of traffic. the entrance being on campus makes the entrance and parking situation very easy.

Nice trail. Wildflowers all along the trail.

A lot of fun, easy short hike to see a Missoula landmark. Definitely worth doing, plus a great view of Missoula once you reach the top.
