Great little short hike. It’s gorgeous and you can access it fairly quickly on a paved road. You can crank this out pretty quickly - we did it in just over an hour and that included slowdowns for icy bridges and a dog who loves to stop and sniff everything that’s ever existed. Totally recommend!

This is a great one! Challenging, rewarding, with awesome beauty. It leaves you speechless at times.

Gorgeous short hike to falls. Closer to 1 1/2 Miles. Easy. Mild elevation.

The app is misleading- if you follow the red line you won’t be at the peak you will have two more miles up so it ends up being 8 miles round trip. Thats the only reason i give it a four out of five. The last quarter mile was essentially straight up but don’t give up it’s 100% worth it. I recorded my way down for anyone who wants to see the actual path. If you can do this hike you will feel rewarded and you won’t regret it !

Hard but definitely worth it. The last creek crossing is a bit unnerving but the logs are rather steady. The views are spectacular! The wild flowers are everywhere, the creek and various falls are picturesque, all culminating in the two lakes at the top. However basically the whole hike is very steep once you pass Pine Creek Falls which makes both up and down tiring. But for those who are willing to put in the work, you will be glad you came! Also, if you can, bring a camera. And I was able to camp to the right of the smaller lake near the more western stream that comes from the western part of the falls coming from the top of the lakes. As I had to carry all my gear for the night and I didn't have polls and I am a fairly small person, it took me 4 1/2 hours to get to the top and 3 1/2 hours to get down, but that was going slow, carrying a lot of weight and trying to be careful. The trail is well trafficed but not crowded, so yes you'll see people but you can still enjoy the lonliness of the woods. All together definitely worth it!

We absolutely loved this hike. The elevation change was a challenge but the views and lakes were well worth it. What a great hike!

Fantastic hike. We did an overnight at Pine Creek Lake (windy and very cold at night in mid-Sept) and went up Black Mountain the first day. We went in on a Thursday and were the only ones camped at the lake. ~3.5 hours to the lake with packs, set up camp, and made our way to the summit by late afternoon. Lots of snow due to being late in the season. I would recommend having some climbing experience: parts of the ridgeline are very exposed and there is a short stretch of exposed technical climbing. The views are worth it though. For those interested, the fishing is good at Pine Creek and Jewel lakes.

Great place to dump your trash. Anita is always there to clean it up. Be sure to give her a wave as you walk past her house on the way to the falls. I like to leave plastic water bottles along the way so they're there for the next time I come through.

great views at first falls and as you hit switchbacks above 7000 feet. At the top, first small lakes are beautiful. Pine Creek Lake is behind last saddle. it is larger and shoreline is large boulders and rock. nice spot for lunch before descent.

once you get past pine Creek falls it's switchbacks and uphill hiking the rest of the way. It was definitely a workout and I had to take multiple breaks along the way.

Great hike to the falls. Past the falls gets steep and rocky as you head up to the lake. Definitely will be back for an overnight.

It was a full day hike up and back. We enjoyed all the different incredible vistas on the way up and on the way back down. Hiking poles were key. Several waterfall views. Smoke in the valley hindered the long distance view, but the lake was spectacular, and worth the trip up.

The description of the mileage is total in/out distance. The hike in is only about 2.6 miles to the falls and then the same distance back out. There are also no signs directing you to the correct trail so here are a couple tips. Starting at the TH, you will cross a bridge, two bridges later (3 total bridges), stay right on the trail and the falls are about .5-.7 miles up ahead. The hike down to the falls is a bunch of very poorly maintained switchbacks with cliffs if you lose footing so leave your pack up at the top before descending.

Yes.
Pine Creek Falls are well worth the hike although as the property owner of the property the access road passes through to get to the falls this attraction can be a pain in the butt.
Hikers/tourists need to take care to read the posted signs & quit trespassing on private property.
Forest service public ground does not start until you cross the final cattle guard!!
The littering discarded on our place is also an issue. People stop throwing your trash out your windows. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate me throwing my trash in your yard so don't do it in mine!!
If you don't like my comments then start respecting private property & I won't have to address these issues like I shouldn't have to anyway. RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE & THEIR PROPERTY OR STAY AWAY!

Fairly easy and mostly shaded walk. Uneven path with bolders and tree roots that might trip up young ones. The access road is paved and narrow. Would walk it again.

My favorite place in the world- spent two nights and for the first (and probably only) time, had the lake to ourselves for a whole night. The bugs were minimal which is saying a LOT this year, but I’d still recommend bug spray.

beautiful hike.lots of water in the creek.huckleberru season.

We did this hike yesterday. It’s very remote, but a gorgeous hike! We didn’t make it to the peak but hopefully next time. We DID see a grizzly bear when we were almost back to the car about 50-75 yards from us so be sure you have your bear spray.

Great hike for dogs sine there is water the whole way. It is definitely steep but worth the climb as the lake is beautiful. Crowded on the weekends and a lot of dogs on the trail, some not so friendly. High recommend though!

Beautiful hike to falls, keep going up once you get to falls for view from top. Don’t cross over at top - experienced people have died being stupid. Stop at pine creek lodge for a bite after. It’s beautiful.

An amazing hike up to a mountain lake with beautiful views of Paradise Valley as you hike. Took just under 5 hours with my Garmin recording a total hike of 9.38 miles.

This is a pretty easy hike until right at the end. There are a few switchbacks that are quite steep at the end to get to the falls. Once you’re there, it’s so beautiful and you are going to love it. It wasn’t too busy either. You walk along a stream most of the way too :) Be sure to wear sunscreen because there’s not much shade along he way.

This is a very easy hike UNTIL you get to the Falls. That part is very steep to descend into the Falls part. There will be 2 bridges. The first is easy to know. It’s close to the beginning of the hike up. Stay on the path. The second bridge is deeper in the trail. The trail spilts. DO NOT take the left. Stay to the right. The trail to the left takes you alone the Pine River but passes the Falls.

Hard Hike up but amazing when you get up there like you are in a different world. The hike back down is the worse though. Best hike ever!

My son and I took this trail while in the Livingston area. We loved it.

It’s a hard hike up to the top but it is very much worth the effort.

The best hardest hike I’ve ever done but so worth it! We went up and back the same day. It’s a well traveled trail so I wasn’t as concerned about the bear presence. Take your walking poles!

Passage Falls is a great mostly level hike with lots of wild flowers. The trail is through the burn area but it’s interesting to see how the forest is regenerating itself. The falls are beautiful and it’s worth it to walk around to the top of them also. Just respect the private property that’s nearby.

Great easy trail! Fun with my mom, easy drive there.

Beautiful hike to falls. Mostly flat and easy. A bit tight and tricky at the end near the falls.
