Starting at the trail head, the trail climbs steadily for the first 3-4 miles (with a large scenic meadow and pond, close to the Scapegoat Wilderness boundary). Once you reach the Scapegoat Wilderness boundary, the trail drops steadily for about 1 mile with 4-5 steep switch-backs,and then levels off. There are 4 creek crossings with no bridges the water is deep enough to go over the top of your boots. Parts of the trail are very muddy due to previous horse traffic. Along the route there are several scenic views and you will have a good chance to see Moose, Deer, Elk and possibly a Bear.
