Not as cool because even well trained dogs needed to remain on leash. Won’t return to this trail.

I hiked this trail, the deadfall has been cleared and the wild-flowers are out, especially at the start of the trail (by the bridge over the wetlands) and in the high mountain meadows. I saw raspberries growing and huckleberries ripening about 1/2 mile into the hike. Take bear spray, I ran into some scat about 3.9 miles in on the mountain meadow.

As others said, pretty easy to stop and scratch your head deciding which way to go as there are many spots where the trail splits off two to three separate ways. Hard to tell with some of them if they are trails or areas that have been washed out. Seeing as it’s due to all the mining once done up here (a local we ran into gave us a quick history lesson along the way), we thought the many split off trails were pretty cool. We kind of just followed trails that looked like they’d lead to the top and made it in ~1.5 miles to the peak. Some steep parts but not anything too intense. Lots of fun history with all the little mines up here and a very close and fun hike!

Travel to the right of Spring Meadow Pond and you will find Ten Mile Park with a very easy trail in a field type setting. Well maintained and marked. Level ground. Some bridges over the creek.

Wouldn't consider it hard, but moderate. Nice trail. Can easily go to top and come down Pinchot back to Rodney Ridge Trailhead in an hour and a half.

Not an easy trail. The rating on this should be changed to moderate.

This is one we often do early in the year because it is so gentle. In April we got turned back because of high water in the stream which is unusual. The creek often disappears into the gravels for most of the hike. Today, the water is still higher than usual so we had a total of 14 creek crossings... 3 of those were on bridges within the 1st mile that is accessible... rest were easy crossings. Found a few Lady Slipper orchids which was a surprise. this trail is not one I would say is loaded with wild flowers but there are a few. Cliffs are the real draw on this hike.

Very easy and fun trail with great views of Helena. Great for beginner MTB riders.

Lots of branching paths. Fun trail. Lots of people on it. Mostly friendly. Some good views but not amazing.

Many different trail options—easy to lose your way from the Mount Ascension trail if you’re a first timer. Awesome spot for hiking, trail running and biking. Great view of Helena from the ridge!

Nice short hike with some nice view of the canyon.

Great hike. If your looking for a casual great hike this a good one. Don’t let the first zig zag up scare you away. Even on a hot day there is lots of tree cover.

Great short and fun hike! it can be hard to find which trail is which on your way down though, I agree that you should take a picture of the trail map at the trail head and keep track of where you’re going.

Well worth the amazing view at the top.

Gorgeous views of the Cathedral and Carrol College.

Got a little side tracked onto Prickly Pear but got back on the trail quickly! The snow pack is pretty good but the backside is loose. Beautiful day for a hike! Would definitely recommend as a good winter hike!

Winter hike and the trails were in good shape.

Lots of switchbacks, not lots of sun exposure so it’s chilly this time of year. Other hikers, mountain bikers, dogs. There are shorter trails in here you can take. About hour to go 3.4 miles

Beautiful easy to moderate hike. Went in mid October. Peaceful and quiet hike through gorgeous canyon walls. Enjoyed the fall colors.

Gorgeous view from the top. Went in early spring and wasn't too much foot traffic. Little bit of snow to watch out for.

There were some beautiful views from the peak. Not a lot of traffic, but unfortunely they do not have clear trail systems, trees and other debree in the way and there are so many trail paths its easy to get lost which I did. Just make sure of where your going and take a picture of the trail map in the parking lot so its easier to find your way.

A little bit of a drive to get to the trailhead but the canyon views along the creek were spectacular. In and out of the trees, not much of an elevation, and nothing but peace and quiet out there! I will definitely be back if I get the chance.

Markings could be clearer. Fantastic views. Much harder than moderate, though. Steep, with scrabbly spots.

Great hike on a beautiful spring day. I would advise people to clean up after their dogs on the trail. It was quite busy on Saturday. I ran into a group pushing a person in a wheelchair and it made me happy they were able to get out together and enjoy Montana's beauty.
