Gorgeous weather, a bit rocky, needed a jacket but overall a great hike with great friends.

Hiked into Kidney Lake 10/8/18. Beautiful, sunny day in high 40’s Got into snow 1/2 way up on the Kidney spur trail. Lake not frozen but no fish caught. Gorgeous time of the year

Gorgeous Fall day, mid 50’s. Colors are spectacular & creek clear!

really enjoyed this trail, even if the stones make it difficult but interesting for running.
Very well maintaned.

The entire hike up to the lake will take you a bit. The terrain gradually gets more difficult as you climb. There was a moment when we found ourselves off trail so pay attention to your turns and direction.

The views are tremendous and the lake is beautiful. Totally worth the hike. Bring lots of water and bear spray. The lake has ample space to camp on it's shores.

one of my favorite hikes so far! me and my partner and our 3 dogs hiked about 2.5 miles in until we got to a small waterfall. i really loved this trail because of the constant change of scenary. beautiful mountains on either side. as you walk you go through dense forested areas, boulders, a river and some sweet little wetlands with lush green grasses. we hiked back out during the sunset and it was beautiful! some small inclines but nothing crazy. a lot of rocks on parts of the trail so just watch your step. i wish i had time to hike a little further!

Make sure to go past the first (and on this app, final destination) waterfall to second, very impressive waterfall 1/2 mile farther. Hike alternates between black rocks and forest. When you reach the bridge, look up to granite arch on top of the ridge. Nice mountain views.

One of my all time favorites. Absolutely loved it!

Hiked this trail in mid-July. It was hot but the falls were beautiful and I loved the challenge.

Great hike different terrain makes it fun!!

Beautiful views. Great hike for the whole family!

Really a beautiful hike. If you go out and back, you can probably do it in about 7 hours. But it’s tough the mile or so before the lake. Going downhill sucked after leaving the lake. Which is clean AF btw. Overall beautiful but may start hating life the last hour. I don’t hike that long very much!

Worth the steep part between miles 3.5 and 4.5. Glad I wore good over the ankle hiking boots.

Awesome hike with beautiful views and impressive rock faces. There is a rock arch that can be spotted from the bridge about 3.5 miles out. We were a group of 6 including my 5.5 yr old and everyone enjoyed it. The last mile or so before the falls was beside a marshland and mosquitoes were thick; so definitely wear repellent.

Beautiful hike, I was expecting a huge waterfall but supposedly as I was told after hiking this trail you have to off trail it to get to the falls over a rocky area. I have yet to go back and try this.

The trail in is fairly well maintained. Overall, it is a pretty easy hike. My 8 year old was able to pack all of his gear without any problems. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star rating is the bugs. They were so bad. One of my daughters ended up with 70 mosquito bites on her back. Bring gallons of bug spray.

Although the beginning of the hike is just another "up the canyon" hike, the real fun (and work!) starts about 3.5 miles in where you suddenly start a quite steep, exhilerating ascent (about 1,500 ft within about a mile), followed by a slight descent down to the drop-dead-gorgeous Canyon Lake. Although you hear Canyon Creek for most of the way, you don't actually get to see it, except at 0.5, 1, 2,, 3.5, and (at the lake) 5 miles in. Most of way is actually in shade. The trail seems to have been rerouted since the recording of the website track, since there are periodic deviations from this track, which may account for the fact that the round trip is closer to 10 miles than the 8.4 miles mentioned in the description.

Great trail lots of beautiful sights. Wish it was closer to the creek

Well-maintained trail. Only a bit of water on the trail in some spots. The lake is beautiful! We took the spur to Kidney Lake, which requires a semi-difficult river crossing and a steeper incline. But worth it.

Great hike for the dog because water crosses the trail every couple of miles. The trail sign said 5 miles to falls and I'm inclined to believe it. Had to choose workout over enjoying the views because of the rocky nature of the trail and time constraints. Can't believe I've put this trail off. Much longer and challenging than the overlook trail, but much more enjoyable and satisfying.

Beautiful hike and nice trail. Does get a little rocky so you’ll need to watch your step. Breathe taking views.

Great trail with a huge payoff. A little route-finding and overgrown in places, but not bad. Canyon Lake is gorgeous! And perfect for a brisk dip. Recommend.

Very nice trail. It’s my own fault that I went too far (turned around about 8 miles in), particularly since the temperature was in the mid-90s. Up until about 3 miles past the falls it was quite nice. After that the trail starts climbing considerably more steeply without any good views. All the berries along the trail were much appreciated!

Great hike, beautiful waterfalls, towering scenery overhead. A lot of bang for the buck here (and by buck I mean amount of hiking effort). The Bitterroots are extremely underrated as a hiking range.

Great hike, particularly for a first day after flying in from New York. Not too strenuous, but still a good workout. Went all the way to the waterfalls, with marvellous views all along the way (and some tasty huckleberries to be found).

The destination has awesome views! The trail is a bit overgrown and could use some cleaning up and marking. Definitely need to pay close attention to stay on the trail.
•Bring sturdy hiking boots (LOTS of rocks)
•Bring lots of mosquito repellent (they were the worst I’d ever experienced)
•Bring GPS capable device
We had a very tough hike starting out around 2:30 in the afternoon in high 80’s. If hiking in the summer, early in the day would be a better idea.
Over all a great, physically challenging hike. I’d do it again under more favorable conditions.

Safe trekking!!

Beautiful trail! Started around 8:30 am and hiked about 4 miles in before turning around. Saw very few people until ~1 mile before trailhead. Parts of the trail were overgrown with vegetation and muddy. Like others have said, parts of trail go through previous burn area that is not very shaded. Will definitely come back to hike in further. The dogs loved it!

Beautiful hike to the waterfall. Easy hike, lots of rocks and muddy sections. A few bugs in dense brush areas. Waterfall and creek are running fast! Loved it!

Great Trail. Took my 5 year old son with one of his big brothers. My 5 year old had no problems making it to the lake.

Easy to moderate trail. Beautiful views. Past the Falls is a bit grown in. Make sure you have plenty of water for after the falls. You can’t get close to the Creek for quite a ways.
