Hiking

Had to park about 3 miles down the road from the trail head because I was afraid I’d get my car stuck in the snow. Added on some distance, but was not too bad, made for a lovely Saturday. The trail itself was pretty easy, even in a few inches of snow. The views at the top were beautiful in the snow. It was a bit cloudy, but still got some good looks.

Running

Olivia Chinn (see comment below) took Griffin from his home in the valley. He belongs to a wonderful and sweet couple that live at the trailhead. He often roams around by himself, and sometimes joins us on our runs. He should NOT have been taken and removed from his home. We will be contacting the Humane Society tomorrow to ensure that Griffin wasn’t given away to another family due to the actions of Ms. Chinn.

Trail was snowy and icy in the shade. Could have used traction device. Took a detour after we crossed the bridge and saw the new Cow Creek sign. Up in the sunshine! Amazing views. Great day out there.

HikingGreat!

WOW in the snow ! I hiked it back in AUG and it was a different kind of experience. I liked it even better in deep snow Sat though we parked 1.5 mi from trailhead and walked in just to be sure we wouldn’t get stuck as we saw another car do. When we did it in Aug you had to watch footing as it was very rocky, in deep snow it was pure joy!

Many blow downs from last weeks wind. Sunny start but clouds rolled in by the time we got to the lake. Snowy!

Beautiful hike. Still lots of trees across the trail in the first mile. We didn’t make it more than a couple miles as a major storm was rolling in, but enough that I know I’d like to back and hike further.

Bird WatchingGreat!

This trail is BEAUTIFUL, especially with the fall leaves. It's not too hard but it's still a good workout. The view at the top is phenomenal. My dog and I loved it The road to get there was a well-maintained dirt forest service road that I had no issues getting up in my tiny 2 wheel drive car.

Stunning and surreal. The footing can require a lot of attention, but take the time to look up around you! It’s one of those trails where it’s not the destination, but the journey. Enjoy it!

Great hike and views and fairly easy for experienced hikers. As we were leaving traffic on the trail picked up. Just a friendly reminder that if your dog(s) can’t be controlled verbally, they should probably remain on a leash.

Great hike. Although have to be honest. We missed one of the switchbacks at the second bench and went straight up the mountain for a bit before we caught on.

It was a great hike. The last 1.5 mile is definitely no joke. Loved the views.

HikingScramble

This was the longest day hike I’ve ever done, so I found it quite challenging. As with other alpine lakes, be very careful leaving the summit, it’s very easy to lose the trail. Which I did, and I made the mistake of scrambling and bushwhacking my way back to the steep section of trail, don’t be stupid like me. Nice that it’s an easy to access trailhead and not a long drive up a FS road, just come prepared to hike.

HikingGreat!Muddy

It was a little tricky to find. Apple Maps said to park the car and walk, but it was definitely a keep driving moment! When I did arrive, however it was clearly marked. The trail itself is easy to follow, starts out as easy, ends easy, but moderate through the middle portion. The end is phenomenal. What a beautiful mountain lake view!! One of my favorite hikes so far. We went on a Monday and there was no one else on the trail. It took my dog and I 2.5 hours to complete. Fast downhill walk back. 6 miles on my Apple Watch.

Fabulous! I definitely suggest going to the upper falls about 0.5 miles from the first falls. Worth it!
