So, it was not too smooth in March, but it was a great view regardless and an intense workout.

Beautiful trail, steep incline at first, but levels out through the canyon, which is breathtaking and impressively tall-walled! Young pine forest surroundings. A friend I visited at Missoula State took me climbing here for my first time and it is a memory I will cherish forever.

Great trail. Tons of great views and easy scrambling. When we went the creek was out of its banks so we had to take a few detours. About 6 miles in the canyon narrows and is more wooded. Tons of great rapids and scenery.

Easy.. Haha Nooooo!! Snowy most of the way, alders covered in snow, draped over the trail in many places. Great view above the clouds, now that I am done I am feeling like a rockstar but damn that was a tough hike!!!

First four miles or so were pretty nice, nothing too extreme. But FUCK whoever rated this as an "easy" trail based on the last mile.

Snow ankle deep, but gorgeous!! I did not leave myself enough time to make it to the lake, look forward to doing it again!! Awesome hike..
beautiful :))

Really liked this trail. It had a bit of everything. Rock cliffs, waterfalls, beaver dams...

Great views from the falls and the lake. More of a moderate hike with plenty of rocks, overgrowth, and some good inclines.

love this trail

Beautiful hike but it needs to be upgraded from easy to moderate. At least 1/3 of the trail is made of lots of big rocks and this makes a bit harder to travel across.

Beautiful hike, we actually went up past the two waterfalls to make it a 12mile round trip. Excellent scenery for the majority of the route, some parts are through trees providing shade but are also a bit overgrown. There were a few mosquitos so I'd recommend bug spray.

Family friendly, not in great shape, but it was pretty mild, easy for the kiddos aged 8-13

Fairly steep incline but I'm not in shape.

Enjoyed it!

Its a great hike, the trail gets a bit irritating at times but is easy to follow all the way to the lake. The last mile or so shoots straight up the canyon wall in a series of switch backs. i wouldnt recommend for amature hikers. The lake and views are well worth the hike. There were many waterfalls all around the lake. And like others have said, coming down is tricky, the trail is hard to follow and has many side trails.

Worth it with the waterfalls and beautiful lake!

Great hike! Busted out the climb after work and spent the last night of spring at the lake. Well worth the workout! Nice campsites

Awesome hike. Trail is a bit difficult with rocks, roots and snags to navigate. Was well worth the sore body..

This hike is much further than the sign says. Be ready to have your ass handed to you! Very steep, but so worth the work.

First 3.5 miles or so the trail runs through thick forest snaking alongside the river. From here it shoots up the canyon face and drops back down to the lake. This portion was surprisingly challenging. I had to traverse several snow fields along the last mile to get to the lake. Easy to lose the trail, especially with the melting snow. The lake views were totally worth it. Still frozen in early June, it was like stepping back into winter. Three nice campsites as well.

This trail is more of a nature walk than anything. We walked the trail until it died out due to snow still being present and covering it up. I'm not sure why this trail gets such high ratings... Maybe we're just spoiled from living around here? the waterfall is more just water running down the side of the mountain versus an actual "fall." Also, as far as a "kid friendly" hike, I'd completely disagree - especially if you're trying to get to the falls. i spent 3.5 years in the army special operations community and we hike at least 4 times per month so we're not strangers to hard hikes. while not the hardest hike ever im SO glad we didn't bring my 7 year old who has made it to the top of mt. sentinel.

If you're looking for more of a "wow" factor, hike the blodgett overlook. it's way shorter, way easier and much prettier the entire time.

Since I got my dog Todd a month ago I've been going on more and more hikes. This one turned out to be longer than I had thought it was, but it was worth it! I couldn't believe the change of scenery throughout the hike and the ending falls was worth it! There is a good amount of traffic, however we went on a Sunday and memorial weekend. Todd is a small dog and he was able to make the full treck without having to stop often. Round trip is 7 miles not 4. It's about 3.5 to the falls. Beautiful stunning and one of my new favorites!

Very interesting scenery that changed rapidly...views of rock cliffs, forest, still water lakes, and rapids. Not too steep or challenging but very enjoyable. Closer to 8 miles round trip to the falls.

Very pretty with the Creek running high

This hike is pretty incredible from the start especially with the sun hitting the massive canyon walls. At about mile 3 is a perfect little camping spot that made me wish I would have thrown the sleeping bags on the pack. Water fall was not massive but was gorgeous and definitely worth the hike to see.

Took two attempts as I could not locate where the trail left off after reaching the waterfall the first time due to knee deep snow. The second time I was able to spot cairns marking the trail and blaze a trail through the snow to the lake. After a strenuous journey through the snow I finally reached the lake and it was well worth the effort. The scenery is mind blowing and well worth any effort required however might wait until late June or July to try this one out this year.
