Super special!! Trail follows the creek most of the way. Extremely pleasant and scenic!! No steep drop-offs. — just easy pleasure. Enjoyed it so much that I hiked it two days in a row!

Tip: Spend the night a Blodget Campground at base. It’s free, small, and quiet! No water and you need to pack out what you pack in. Camp host, Chris, is a fascinating individual and has encyclopedic knowledge about nature and wildlife. Be sure to have a chat with him!!!

Really a beautiful hike. If you go out and back, you can probably do it in about 7 hours. But it’s tough the mile or so before the lake. Going downhill sucked after leaving the lake. Which is clean AF btw. Overall beautiful but may start hating life the last hour. I don’t hike that long very much!

Worth the steep part between miles 3.5 and 4.5. Glad I wore good over the ankle hiking boots.

For my first hike it was a amazing start . Make sure you have good shoes with plenty of traction , at one section you have to go thru a forest which is mostly made up of prickly evergreen trees . The view is amazing and totally worth the drive up . Not very much parking and kind of a narrow drive up .

After having done bear creek overlook this trail is not a super good view in comparison. An easy hike though for all ages young-elderly.

Although the beginning of the hike is just another "up the canyon" hike, the real fun (and work!) starts about 3.5 miles in where you suddenly start a quite steep, exhilerating ascent (about 1,500 ft within about a mile), followed by a slight descent down to the drop-dead-gorgeous Canyon Lake. Although you hear Canyon Creek for most of the way, you don't actually get to see it, except at 0.5, 1, 2,, 3.5, and (at the lake) 5 miles in. Most of way is actually in shade. The trail seems to have been rerouted since the recording of the website track, since there are periodic deviations from this track, which may account for the fact that the round trip is closer to 10 miles than the 8.4 miles mentioned in the description.

Great trail lots of beautiful sights. Wish it was closer to the creek

Well-maintained trail. Only a bit of water on the trail in some spots. The lake is beautiful! We took the spur to Kidney Lake, which requires a semi-difficult river crossing and a steeper incline. But worth it.

Great trail with a huge payoff. A little route-finding and overgrown in places, but not bad. Canyon Lake is gorgeous! And perfect for a brisk dip. Recommend.

Very nice trail. It’s my own fault that I went too far (turned around about 8 miles in), particularly since the temperature was in the mid-90s. Up until about 3 miles past the falls it was quite nice. After that the trail starts climbing considerably more steeply without any good views. All the berries along the trail were much appreciated!

Did this hike in the afternoon after having done the Blodgett Canyon hike earlier in the day. Maybe that's why I think it a little tougher than the "easy" designation would indicate.

The destination has awesome views! The trail is a bit overgrown and could use some cleaning up and marking. Definitely need to pay close attention to stay on the trail.
•Bring sturdy hiking boots (LOTS of rocks)
•Bring lots of mosquito repellent (they were the worst I’d ever experienced)
•Bring GPS capable device
We had a very tough hike starting out around 2:30 in the afternoon in high 80’s. If hiking in the summer, early in the day would be a better idea.
Over all a great, physically challenging hike. I’d do it again under more favorable conditions.

Safe trekking!!

Super easy hike with a great reward ! Bring bear spray and enjoy the wildflowers :)

Beautiful trail! Started around 8:30 am and hiked about 4 miles in before turning around. Saw very few people until ~1 mile before trailhead. Parts of the trail were overgrown with vegetation and muddy. Like others have said, parts of trail go through previous burn area that is not very shaded. Will definitely come back to hike in further. The dogs loved it!

Great Trail. Took my 5 year old son with one of his big brothers. My 5 year old had no problems making it to the lake.

Easy to moderate trail. Beautiful views. Past the Falls is a bit grown in. Make sure you have plenty of water for after the falls. You can’t get close to the Creek for quite a ways.

Lots of wildflowers right now! Heavily trafficked. Past the second bench there is a side trail up to a rocky outlook on the south side of the mountain which was fun but dangerously steep on loose dirt in a few spots, you need good traction and balance and perhaps a touch of willingness to do some sliding on your butt coming back down. At the overlook at the end of the trail there are several spots to go exploring out on rocks to get even better views. Great trail overall.

Takes a little effort to get to the end but very cool once you do. Large open area where you could picnic, relax, rest, etc. The worst part I thought was the drive up. I have a fairly new car and the unpaved road is very rough. Glad I went on a week night after work as there didn’t seem like there was much parking.

There is a fair amount of water running on the trail, but it’s not impassible. Including my group, we saw 17 people hiking to the lake today.

Awesome hike. My boys even said it was easy. Views are spectacular this spring!!!!

It's actually 6.7 miles in and out, a couple of creek crossings but nothing hard, snow at the end but the lake is gorgeous.... so worth it

The hike up currently has a bunch of runoff on the trail for the first 3 miles or so. The last mile of the hike climbs completely through snow. The lake was definitely well worth the hike and looks absolutely terrific.

Love this trail. Well marked. Water is awesome this time of year!

I agree with previous poster. it was a beautiful hike, but was surprised at the steep climb. Strenuous at times for an old gal like me, but the view was well worth the struggle.

Beautiful view the whole way! The trails were a bit more narrow and steeper than expected but still easy enough for a novice hiker such as myself.

So, it was not too smooth in March, but it was a great view regardless and an intense workout.

Beautiful trail, steep incline at first, but levels out through the canyon, which is breathtaking and impressively tall-walled! Young pine forest surroundings. A friend I visited at Missoula State took me climbing here for my first time and it is a memory I will cherish forever.

Still a great trail in December. Found minimal ice, completed in 45 minutes. the wind coming out of the canyon at the top was brutal at 30 degrees in the valley so dress warm.

Easy.. Haha Nooooo!! Snowy most of the way, alders covered in snow, draped over the trail in many places. Great view above the clouds, now that I am done I am feeling like a rockstar but damn that was a tough hike!!!
