This was a nice slow hike through the woods. I got to the parking lot at around 830 am on a Friday thinking it would be crowded, but I was one of a couple of vehicles there. The trail is rocky but very doable. I had no problems with the trail or the hike. I seemed to be the only person on the trail at that time of day. it wasn't until I was getting close to the lake that younger hikers started passing me. It is a beautiful lake with wonderful views. On the return hike to the parking lot, the crowds were just heading up.

this was an awesome trail for the whole family. my 4 yr old did the entire route and my retriever loved it. Great Family Hike!!

Rocky trail with some interesting creek crossing structures that work well until the it goes down a bit. Lots of friendly people and dogs out and about. Great destination for a quick break before you head back down.
And if you enjoy wild strawberries those should be ripe in the next few weeks!

A well populated trail. Despite the number of people who fill up the trail, the lake itself is huge, and there is opportunity to spread out a bit once you reach the lake. Nice spots to picnic or take a dip in the lake.

The trail has a little bit of everything. The possibility of a bear encounter, creek, treasures to find(and put back) like petrified wood, obsidian..., cows blocking your path on your way there(from pray), low traffic(we only saw one other couple on the path). I recommend climbing up to the peak of that area, it’s a bit scary if you are a newbs like us. We did find two pieces of petrified wood, we put them back right where we found them. To give you a hint, at one of the info signs, there’s a path that leads to a creek, it’s to the right of that path in the grass. The other piece we found looked like petrified wood that was also charcoal. It’s up on the taller peak. The creaking of the gate to enter the trail is creepy sounding like in a movie. I found wild raspberries on the trail that were delicious, there were also bane berries that are toxic, don’t eat those. I’ll add some images from our hike. Also, I’m on Verizon and I got zero bars most of the trail, one bar in the parking lot.

Great easy short trail to a nice waterfall.

Great Trail for beginners with amazing views.

Nice steady climb up following switchbacks. Somewhat rocky making for loose footing at times. Views and several lookout areas on way up. At top, a neat natural rocky arch. Had lunch with quite aggressive chipmunks. No fear. Hikers in front of us encountered a deer. At bottom visit stream across from parking area to cool off.

Great workout hike with steady uphill throughout. Saw this trail mentioned as a great kids hike in a local magazine but after hiking it, I would hesitate to bring children here. It is challenging enough you might end up carrying them but more because of the steep drop offs and narrow trails throughout. Keep a close eye on kids if you do bring them. Amazing views at the top.

A well maintained path down to a beautiful waterfall. Short and not difficult. Can be very busy, so go early morning or late afternoon. There are multiple benches and bridges and picnic tables along the way.

Magic trail, definitely moderate and perfect start to hiking in Bozeman.

Nice moderate hike to chilly lake. Two 60+ hikers and we made it up and back in just over 2 hours hike time. Would recommend. Just over 5 miles out and back.

Very nice hike through the forest up to the lake. The path is pretty rocky so be prepared with some hiking shoes. Would recommend getting to the trail head before 8am. Not too many views on the way up, but the lake and the peaks at the top are worth it!

Beautiful hike, the switchbacks can be difficult for little ones, but the trail is very well maintained. And the waterfall is breathtaking!

Absolutely gorgeous! Will do it again soon.

Nice n easy hike. Quite scenic. Stay on the trail marked NFS 83 at the bifurcation to hidden lake cutoff. Ran into hikers that made the mistake of following the arrow pointing right rather than straight and ended up in the wrong location. Moderately trafficked with people at the destination. Road conditions leading up are tremendously bad.

Great views the whole way up and down, trail is very well kept. Definitely a climb but the view is worth it

Nice views from the top and a good workout, though overall I was a little less impressed with the trail as a whole. While th views up top are nice, I do feel that I've been on better trails in the area.

This trail was a blast and make no mistake, very challenging. We started from the Daly Creek Trailhead, and headed up the trail around 730 am. We went clockwise on the loop, and were glad we did, because at about mile 13 or so, there is a mountain to climb that is essentially straight up and very challenging, but coming down would have been much worse. The last 5 miles (after the previously discussed incline) was challenging and felt long, but it was worth it. We did see a Grizzly about about mile 15 (1 mile from completing the loop) and that was cool. He/She took off up the mountain at light speed and it was cool to see. The views on this hike were amazing, and worth every step. My wife and I were proud to complete it together and it took us about 9 hrs, 30 minutes with about 3-40 minutes of breaks for meals, snacks, etc.

We did this after another relatively strenuous hike, so it took a bit longer than expected. The scenery on the way up (and down) isn’t anything remarkable, but the view at the top is totally worth it. This ended up being my favorite hike that we did in Big Sky!

Great trail, with many water crossings. Not too technical, or too much climbing great for an easy ride to enjoy the scenery.

What a great hike. You have a view form every angle on the way up to the top!! It’s well worth the climb. Even if it is 90 degrees!

Beautiful quick hike

Hiked up with my son and wife today. Found it to be a challenge for our group, and could tell that others were having a tough time on the final 1/4 of the trail at the top. Rocky and steep at parts, and fairly populated. The lake at the top makes it all worth it. This was our favorite trail for our week in Big Sky.

Steady climbing to a wonderful overlook. Explore all the other vantages.

Good trail. A steady steep climb for most of it so it's definitely a workout on the legs. It's also very narrow and sometimes difficult to move over when passing others. Nice views at the top. Get there early so you can have a few minutes to yourself at the top.

Be sure to take a dip in the cool lake to cool off on a hot day. I carried my 4.5 year old in on a backpack carrier and the dip felt great!

This is a great walk / hike for all ages and all skill levels. The falls are beautiful and easily accessible. Perfect for kids.

Loved that we made it. My wife and I are from NH and both in our late 60’s so the altitude gain really got to us. Loved the views going up and especially at the top.
BEAUTIFUL!
Highly recommended!!!
