Beautiful trail to summit of lion mountain. Unfortunately the clouds and snow began before we reached the top and the view was obscured.

Great hike I did back in August, my favorite in the Highwoods thus far. It’s a good length, not overly strenuous but still a workout, and has great views. Worth taking the detour to Windy Mountain peak. Good views down into Choteau and Cascade counties.

Great trail with beautiful scenery. I was hampered by a couple inches of heavy, wet, snow, but the trail was well marked regardless. Not particularly strenuous. Again, great scenery, with cliffs rising on both sides.

Confusion reigns about the dogs because the title is for the Seeley Creek Nordic Ski trails EAST of Seeley Lake and the map location is for the incorrectly titled, ungroomed trails, on the WEST side of Seeley Lake
Yes indeed, dogs, snowshoes, skiis, boots, and yes even snowmobiles are allowed on the trail network on the WEST side of Seeley Lake. The segment marked on the map which appears to be from the Lodges On The Lake to the Boy Scout Bridge via a piece of the Lars Kramen Loop. In addition to the segment marked on the map, there are about another five miles of trails on the WEST side of Seeley lake where users of all sorts are welcomed year round. The trails are ungroomed except for the Archibald Snowmobile Trail. The west side trails are limited to non-motorized use during the snow-free season. Mike's information is correct for the outstanding Seeley Creek trails on the EAST side of Seeley Lake.

this was one of my favorite trails!

A nice pretty easy hike. unfortunately it was very smokey from all the wildfires in the area while we I was there but still beautiful! came 20ft apart with a black bear but made it by with no incidents

loved this hike! the views were amazing and we got to see a moose ☺️. it is quite the hike but it was well worth the views!

On further examination I realized that this the description and map are not the Seeley Creek Ski Trails. The Ski Trails are located on the opposite side of the lake on Morrell Creek Road. Dogs are NOT allowed on the ski trails in winter when skiing and grooming are occurring. Walking and snowshoeing are also not allowed on the trails in winter.

Dogs are not allowed on these trails in winter due to ski grooming. Dogs are OK the rest of the year.

We love this trail... easy and fun for the kids and dogs with great views! Beautiful 15 minute drive from Whitefish.

first mile down hate a mile up on the way home. easy hike trail is easy to lose track of 3/4 of the way thru. good fishing for small trout.

Decided to make an attempt to try this trail since I did not get to do it in the summer. Knew the trail would be icy, but had just purchased some Yaktrac’s, plus the trail had just got four inches of snow on it. Followed one set of tracks in, and not long into the trip, met a young woman coming back down. Trail was steep, but snow helped with traction. Finally got to where the hiker before me turned around and thought, I can’t resist going a little further and break the fresh snow. Glad I did, got to a beautiful view point. Believe I was only two miles into the hike, so it is back on my list for completion. Any day in nature is a good day, so I enjoyed the part I did do.

I had a little trouble finding the trail but once found it was beautiful. It was a glorious sunny winters day. The trail was groomed for cross country skiing along the whole length making for easy snowshoeing.

Plenty of berries to eat. Ouzel lake is full of mosquitoes, but the rest of the path was ok. Trail had a lot of horse poop.

most beautiful trail i have ever done!! it is long and gorgeous the entire way. you hike along the hill side, and end up at a warming house! it hailed and snowed on our hike, but id do it again in a heart beat! it was so fun. check the shuttle time at end of trail, so you don't have to walk miles back to parking lot!

Freaking beautiful- past the overlook

This hike was our first one in Glacier! It was busy but we were there over the 4th of July. Go early regardless during the busy season so parking isn’t an issue. Literally saw people yelling at each other in the parking lot for spots. The snow was still on the mountain on our way up and pretty entertaining as some folks had flip flops on attempting the trek. So wear tennis shoes! Once you get to the overlook YOU GOTTA KEEP GOING! The way down to the lake was beautiful and then once you get there it takes your breath away. Picture perfect views and a fun spot to spend time taking it all in. There had been “grizzly activity” the day before but we didn’t see any ( wheh) but we saw a few sheep, goats, chipmunks and what I think is a marmot!! Way back up is strenuous but doable if you walk or hike often.

Gorgeous lake. Nice hike.

First, according to the posted signs and brochure/map, dogs are not allowed on the snowshoe or xc skiing trails. That was a bummer. I'll call the Ranger Station to verify if trail association has the authority to say no dogs, being this is National Forest. The other folks using the trail said that they have seen dogs there before. hmm.
Tail makers were frequent. Intersections had easy to read maps. My wife and kids enjoyed the packed, narrow trail with powder on the sides should you want to use the full ability of your snowshoes. Wind was not an issue on the trails, though the days was forecasted as +20.
I looked at Showdown Ski Area's website to view real-time web cams and to get an idea of snow conditions.

January hike. Very, very icy. We had yaktrax on and had a hard time in places. Good views. Well traveled; saw 4 other groups in 3 hours of hiking. Would be great snowshoe if there was a lot of snow.

Saw rams, mountain goats and moose along the way. No bears though! The glacier is slowly shrinking but still beautiful!

A lovely hike on a bluebird day today January 2. Path is solid underfoot with 12 to 18 inches of snow on both sides. Waterfalls are frozen on top but river is flowing under ice so take care if you tread on the ice. Some amazing lads ice climbing the waterfalls made for super photos. A great way to spend a couple of hours.
