Very simple trail but the views are pretty spectacular. There are some rocks you can climb on and the view of the river was awesome. There are some parts that the trail gets very thin (walking through flower bushes) but other than that the trail is well kept. There weren’t a lot of people taking this trail which was nice also.

This was an easy but rewarding hike for our family. The trail in the forest was lush, green and well shaded. The waterfalls in the river are also magnificent. The only part we didn’t like was remains of the horses that frequent this trail.

Hiked this trail 8/10. The trail is well established and not to challenging which is great for a family with different aged kids. There were segments that were quite overgrown, but thankfully the bugs weren't bad. The creek water is bright blue and crystal clear which allows you to enjoy the bright river rocks Glacier is known for. Once you come to the end of the trail I highly recommend walking a little further down the creek because it has a beautiful view of the creek with mountains in the background and no one else was there.

Beautiful trail! Creek has stunning view points! Easy inclines and saw a moose in the marsh from the wooded area of the trail! About 3 miles each way, very doable for people of all ages!

Awesome trail. Fallen trees. Huge boulders alongside the trail (provided by glaciers). Crossed a rushing river twice.

Beautiful hike. Got to see lots of different animals as well as enjoy the scenery. The only downside is one family was letting their kids carve their initials into a tree. I told them it was disrespectful and they stopped, but it’s always a shame to see parents letting their kids deface property, especially in a national park.

Great loop to experience a majority of the McDonald Creek Falls. This is an incredibly scenic and approachable trail for hikers of all levels. Did it mid August and it was absolutely beautiful

First two miles in are gorgeous, although it often runs quite close to the road and the car sounds and sights are not awesome. That said, it’s tough not to stop for photos every 5 minutes. Saw a ton of families. Probably should be rated easy, but I’m rehabbing a ruptured quad tendon so no complaints. A bit overgrown in parts of the last mile, and I would not fault anyone for turning back out of the sheer boredom of a flat walk in the woods, but trust that if you make it to the end there’s a pretty spectacular payoff. Bonus: saw many hidden swim spots along the way.

Some parts are severely overgrown, otherwise not too difficult. The waterfall is just ok. Saw a black bear cub and some deer though

Amazing for an easy hike. Very beautiful. The first part is very wooded and the second has multiple little areas you can get pretty close to the water with some small waterfalls.

We actually hiked 7.3 but accidentally paused the recording for a bit. Amazing waterfalls and stunning crystal clear water with mountains in the background. Wish we had more time to go further up the river at the end of the trail.

Yes it is an easy hike, but we arrived into glacier at noon and thought we’d start with an easier hike since it was already getting later. Started on trail at about 1pm. Had no issue parking at the end of the road (which was just off of GTSrd). We did come across people on trail, but it wasn’t congested like I expected it would be. We had bug spray, so we didn’t have issues. Your under the tree line for a lot of it, so no worries there either. It was gorgeous! If you do the whole thing, you’ll come to the end near a second water fall where we (and others) decided to cliff jumping into the freezing water! There are 3ft-20ft cliffs to jump off. Even little kids were doing it. Super fun, but very cold! First jump you’re sucking air big time from the shock of it. Great trail! Very well marked. Awesome views!

Hiked this trail on 7/29. Great trail, very flat, with a lot of vegetation. Beautiful waterfall. Around 2 miles in, saw 2 black bears. Watched one rub his back on a tree, then go for a swim in the river. Was able to video the entire thing. Very memorable.

Nice easy trail after a hard or moderate one. Beautiful views of McDonald creek and small falls. At one point you peel off of the creek to walk through a dense forest. We started this one late morning and it was nice seeing the sun peek through the dense trees. It got really quiet, very shaded, high brush on either side of the trail for a short stint with huckleberries hanging off of the limbs. Saw bear scat in a few places, but no bear. We did see a deer about 15 yards in front of us. It didn't seem to mind we were there. At the end, we hung out on rocks at a small waterfall for lunch. Easy walk with a few ups and down, but good to get the legs going if sore from other hikes.

Super overgrown trail. Tons of flies buzzing and biting. The elevation you gain is insane for the short amount of distance. Basically a straight up hill climb the whole way and decently hard. This coming from an avid hiker who lives in the Rockies. That lake was beautiful and a great temp.

Im sure this was a beautiful trail. but on 7/28/2020 unfortunately we had to turn back within 1 mile as we saw a grizzly cub on the first creek you see. it was literally 10ft/2m away from us. anytime there is a cub there is a mum. we turned around (did not run) and spoke loudly and left as fast as we could. we found out later when we talked to workers at the entrance that the family had been there for several days. there were also other folks a few minutes after we were in the parking lot that said they saw the cub with the mum. bring bear spray and note the parkinf can only fit 10 cars ish.

This was a peaceful and great recovery trail. We did a strenuous hike the day before and this was perfect for today. The creekside walk and waterfalls were really nice and the forrest was really peaceful. I had bug spray on and did not have a problem with mosquitoes that others seemed to. It was really hot out today and it does not offer much for breeze but it was still very nice.

Great trail. John’s Lake was smaller and more shallow than anticipated. Take bug spray.
