I had intended on taking my family (wife + our 4 kiddos age 9 and younger) on a hiking / fishing / camping trip. The hike is not challenging. Well maintained trail. However,
** Glacier lake is DAY USE ONLY **
So, instead of a 1.5 mile hike, we went on a 3.5 mile hike to the next lake in, which is Crescent Lake. I’m not trying to whine. The hike was great. Kids did okay. The annoyance is that we were not mentally prepared to hike that much farther which resulted in me carrying 1 kid along with an extra pack 2/3 of the way up and most of the way down. Just something I wish I would have known. So I could have had a better heads up, or could have chosen a closer camping destination.
All that aside, it was a great family outing. Caught a few fish 10-12”. A few nice camping spots. We will most likely be back at some point.
Also, Heart Lake is probably only another .25 / .5 miles away from Crescent.

Gorgeous short hike. Went midday, it was hot and hazy, but no mosquitos today! Our dogs loved the easy access to the lake at multiple points along the way to the falls.

Absolutely stunning!!

Mosquitoes are definitely trying to eat as much as you as possible so spray before and you will be happy. Spectacular views all the way up. Easy going at first and a little more steep towards the end so save your energy and also enjoy the lake.

This was a delightful hike! I agree, would rank this as moderate due to some steep, ongoing climbs. The bugs were present but not awful for us at the lake. Trailhead was easily accessible as well.

Got about half way to the lake and had to turn around because he mosquitoes were so bad. I even had long layers on and it didn’t help. No kind of bug spray can help you. I’m sure the view is beautiful and hopefully I’ll be back some day but highly suggest avoiding this trail right now

I think I would question the EASY rating this app gives this hike? The trail has several steep climbs to the lake but once there the beauty will make you forget about them. Be sure to wear your bug spray. Vicious mosquitos from the meadow to the lake. Well worth the time and the climb and Don't forget to listen for the Winter Wren singing along the way.

My wife and I hiked up to Turquoise Lake with our 9 month old in tow and it was an excellent hike. Amazing sights of the Swans and also the Missions. We hiked in mid July and there are some spots along the switch backs that bring you above Glacier Lake where you can see the rock slabs where you will find Lagoon Lake and Turquoise Lake. The hike has a consistent incline which made it a good burn of you are carrying gear for an overnight trip. Once you get to the top the final descent leads you to the lakes. Lots of bug hatches for the ones going up with a fly rod. Would definitely recommend going up above for a longer multi day camping trip to Lone Tree Pass.

R3; ruts, roots, and rocks = Montana Easy, but bring walking sticks and good mosquito protection for a great hike. Get as close to falling water as you want.

Very nice trail along beautiful Glacier Creek to a gorgeous lake at the end to soak your feet in. Three interesting creek crossings along the route.

Very tough hike.

Absolutely gorgeous. Saw a lot of animals and wild flowers. Enjoyed endless rainfall the first day. Couldn’t make it all the way to Sapphire lake and instead stopped at Upper Holland.

Trail is well traveled and easy to follow.

Recommend bringing a friend.

I've hiked this twice: both times with novice hikers. and both times with no problems! Beautiful photo opportunities, beautiful views! Anyone who is not bound to a stroller or wheel chair can make this hike (with help in some areas). A quote from my 12 year old nephew: THIS (meaning the falls) makes it all worth it!!

Great hike. We did an out and back stopping at Upper Holland Lake. The mosquitoes were bad the first mile or so so make sure to have bug repellent. The out trip is mostly up hill so it will take you longer going out than back. Views along the trail were outstanding. Upper Holland lake was very serene. 4.5 Stars.

Great short hike with good panoramic views and
a waterfall. Only downside was the amount of people on the trail. Was a holiday weekend.

Did this hike in the rain, with a 9-year old and a 6-year old, and it was awesome! Moderately steep at first, but nothing you can’t handle with a steady pace. Beautiful scenery in a magical forest. Definitely recommend!

great start of season hike! narrow trail and a lot of people on it but had so much fun and it was so pretty!

Beautiful hike up to the falls

About a 45min drive off the highway for one heck of a beautiful hike. The trail starts out fairly unchallenging and then eases you into 14 switchbacks that walk you above and beside Glacier Lake. The views are just getting started at this point. You can see the wall of the Swan mountain range behind you and glimpses of waterfalls fed by Lace lake which is fed by Turquoise Lake in front of you. Once at the top of the ridge you begin to descend, eventually reaching Lagoon Lake, (don’t be fooled into thinking you have made it).Lagoon lake is stunning and where we decided to pitch camp for the night, however, to reach Turquoise you have to go about another 3/4 of a mile downwards, then up to find it. We dropped our packs and then headed on down to turquoise lake to enjoy the sunrise the following morning. There is a bit of snow once you reach your highest elevations but nothing hike ruining at this point. There will definitely not be many more weekends to enjoy this magical place, so get her done while you can :)!

Very nice hike - no bugs and almost no people. Went a mile beyond maintained trail. Next time I'd go early and try for the mission range ridge.

Easy and kid friendly hike. Falls are beautiful and you can hike right up to them. The views of the lake and Mission mountains are fantastic. Can be crowded.
