Gorgeous trail! Fallen trees blocked the trail at a couple points, and a few landslide areas near the top made for steep and hazardous conditions. The trail ends at a large group of boulders with trees blocking the view of the falls; to actually see the falls we had to do quite a bit of scrambling around some rather wet rocks and fallen trees. All that said, though, it was 100% worth it! Absolutely stunning views of the lake along the entire trail, light traffic, very peaceful and easy enough for this rank beginner to get all the way to the top and back. Will definitely go again!

Hiked on 10/19/19. Trail was moderate and in great shape till Glacier Lake. Above Glacier Lake, we ran into progressively more and more snow until near Lace Lake, where it was icy with up to 4 inches of snow (and snowing heavily as we walked). Gorgeous hike, but unless you have snowshoes I’d say it’s probably done for the season. Trail was in fantastic shape other than the snow. Access road was no problem for my Prius C other than the Google Maps direction being wrong (go left at the fork if it tries to take you right towards a road that’s clearly closed with boulders).

A spectacular hike. Very gradual ascent. The lakes are stunning!

A beautiful day for this trail in which we were the only hikers! The bugs are gone for the season, but your pants will get wet from the brush on the sides of the trail. Amazing views, steady climb, and crystal clear lakes.

This is a great trail for beginners, we did it with my five year old. We snacked on huckleberries along the way. The hike was peaceful.

Beautiful hike meandering through forest. View of the lake part of the way. The great reward is the falls at the end. Massive & powerful! Easy trail, dog friendly & family friendly.

Good hike with spots to jump in the water for a cool down. Lots of dogs on the trail.

I’m not sure where this got the easy rating. Those people clearly forgot the whole 800ft incline in the first 0.7 miles. Anyway, this trail was gorgeous, shady, and the lake was breathtaking. Clearest water I’ve ever seen. It was a moderate hike though.

We loved this hike! The trail is well maintained and the views are incredible throughout the entire hike. There was a bit of a climb as you approach the waterfall, but as far as hikes go in the area, it's pretty mellow.

Beautiful trail along the lake! The last 1/4 mile or so is a little bit of a work out but well worth the sweat. The falls are absolutely stunning and the view is to die for. While we were on the trail, we passed a couple that alerted us to a fallen tree accross the trail that fell right before we got there so keep watch as there are beetle caused dead trees. Also remember your bug spray!

Beautiful trail and lake! Big Bang for your buck!! Not difficult or long! Highly recommend. I took my dogs on leash and they loved it!!!

As people have noted, the road to this trailhead is closed. As an alternative, I recommend hiking to crystal lake just a couple miles to the south. It doesn’t look like the trail is on this app but if you’re interested in a beautiful and very remote hike through dense wilderness to a pristine mountain lake, then it’s worth poking around for. If you turn off the highway to go to Lindbergh Lake and follow the dirt road up into the mountains you’ll come to the trailhead.

Dog friendly! Hike in was good - most of elevation gain is first half of the hike. Pretty and woodsy landscape throughout. Definitely worth the end destination. Lake was pretty shallow when we were there - clean clear and beautiful - great for swimming. Did not fish. Loved the views. Wish there was a sign or trail to upper cold creek. Attempted a trail to the right but way over grown so turned around. No bug spray needed - went mid August.

Road closed; we entered via the "Annoyance trail", which certainly lived up to its name. However, we had the valley to ourselves. Great hike, terrible fishing, great time with friends. We will be back.

The Kraft Creek Road (Forest Road 561) on the Swan Lake Ranger District will be closed from Aug. 1-Aug. 30 for bridge replacement work. A new concrete bridge will replace the existing wooden bridge across Glacier Creek. Closure of Kraft Creek Road located in section 35 T20N, R17W ...

Beautiful hike! The last little bit and the falls are harder but out 4 yr old, 6 yr old and 9 yr old did fine. The 2 younger ones did need some help at the falls but a very enjoyable hike... Well traveled and moderately trafficked hike.

Beautiful hike and tough. I would say the listed mileage is wrong, as we hiked it and recorded 15 miles. Took 4 hours to get to Sapphire Lake (with breaks, but not many) and 3 hours coming down at a fairly decent pace. Well worth the work, but I feel that All Trails May understate the mileage. Also, lots of switch backs that you don’t see on the map. We started on trail at 6:00 AM. Perfect time! Would NOT have started later in August as the sun was intense by the time we started back down and I fully consumed 3 liters without hesitation, as did my hiking partners. Buggy, so you need bug spray. Several times on the footpath portion you will find yourself in overgrown places, so hiking pants were a must for me.

The description says the trail is best used June - Oct. so why is the trail closed from Aug 1 - Sept. 1?

Gorgeous lake at the end of this trail. Moderately steep for the first half, then levels off. No views until the end, but wildflowers and wild huckleberries in abundance. Amazing kaleidoscope of butterflies hanging out at the lake. Only one other hiking party on the trail.

Fairly easy trail for most part - last part to falls is steeper. Nice hike along the lake, but quite busy trail and on this sun filled day the lake was busy with waterskiing and jetskis which ruins the beautiful nature experience.
