Close to home, this is a view filled quick steep hike. It’s a spur off of the cdt so you can link it into a much longer outing if you take the ridge over to Homestake.

A nice short trail that is close to town. The trail includes and fairly good vista of the city down below. When i went there was plenty of wild flowers, butterflies and other insects about. I would caution the trail has little to no cover on it so on hot days your at the mercy of the sun to bring water.

A very open, open-space. Great for a day with cloud coverage. Has convenient access and well-marked routes.

I’m from sea level and this was the first hike my dog and I did since moving to Montana. It’s a pretty short loop with the only real incline being up to the “M” which was kinda steep with a lot of loose rocks/ground on the way down. There is a better road down that goes right back to the parking lot. Overall it wasn’t a bad morning walk, you could take anyone up it.

I am pretty sure this is the Butte "M" trail. We start at the bottom, parking near tech, and hike to the top. You can also dive up. The trails look great for hikers and bikers. Lots of side trails. We hiked it in the winter with Snow Boots. Moderately hard because it's straight up but it's very short. About 2 miles total when we start at the bottom. Such a fun hike! You can go around either way. You end up at the top of a hill with great views of Butte. Lots of runners and dogs! We hiked it in February with Yak Tracks/Snow Boots. More can be found on my blog (https://www.brisul.com/blog/2018/3/2/maud-s-canyon-loop-butte-montana).

Beautiful trail with an amazing view at the top. It's definitely a "moderate" trail especially if you're nine month pregnant (haha) going uphill is not easy but SO worth it! There is not a lot of trees along the trail so I would recommend going in the morning or evening when it's hot outside :) ! Have fun.

My favorite "in town" Butte trail. Dog friendly but recommend you keep them leashed. Can get busy, especially in spring and fall, but everyone is always polite and shares the trail well.
