Very nice, moderate hike! Didn’t take too long, beautiful views!

Love this hike! I was able to do it in January with snow boots. Sometimes it gets icy though so a lot of people use Yak Tracks or spikes. It's a fun little hike. It has a few parts that are pretty quick "up" but if you go slow it's doable for all ages. Lots of dogs and traffic on the weekends. The parking isn't great because it's in a residential area. There is more parking farther down. Beautiful views. More can be found on my blog (https://www.brisul.com/blog/2018/1/5/62h0od09ygbzff94js6dt1yehopu5n)

The perfect hike for a short time allowance in the week days after work or on a time crunch.

First it's important to note there are 3 trail heads in the parking area. Bear Canyon is down the road a bit more, the parking area is directly in front of New World Gulch and another trail. I took New World Gulch by accident for a little while, I turned around after a ton of snow, mud, slush, and eventually a stream too big to cross....mostly because I had on trail runners instead of full hiking boots. The snow and water made it hard for me to find the trail and keep on the trail.

Bear Canyon was a great trail until I needed snow shoes. I was knee deep in snow and had to turn around (again!). Easy trail to follow. More open than the New World Gulch trail.

Early morning was empty. Quite busy by the time I came down around 1pm . Lots of climbers headed to a crag.

Fairly easy hike with great views! It can get a little crowded at the top, but definitely worth it.

Road wasn’t too bad until about 0.2 miles from the trailhead; some pretty big moguls. You can get passed them with a high clearance vehicle. Be aware of high bear activity in this area - bring bear spray! There is a dead carcass alongside the beginning of the trail along with lots of torn trees and bear prints every where. The trail was beautiful and almost all the snow was melted until you reach higher elevation. Then there is about a mile stretch of snow that you have to hike through. Starts to clear out as you descend. Otherwise it was a beautiful hike with some good views of Bozeman and the Bridgers.

Awesome trail

lots of people lots of dogs, if you turn off to go up to Sypes, it's muddy and snowy but there is less traffic and that's where I got to bushwack and get some good pictures. Apparently M is where everyone goes to run as well.

Favorite daily hike near, close to town. Gets a little crowded on weekends, but it’s good for kids. It’s also fairly short so it’s nice to go on weekdays if you have time.

Very popular and busy trail! Great views of the entire valley and definitely worth the hike!

Nice trail. Not too long but long enough to get some exercise with the pup. Well maintained and I will be coming back to chill on the “ beach” since dogs aren’t allowed :(

Takes 1-2 hours depending on how much time you spend at the top. It's a nice less popular alternative to the M with a great view of Bozeman

Great shorter hike that's conveniently close to town. Has some good views. A little steep

felt like walking

Beautiful!

Easier than the M hike. Hiked this trail with my 5 year old. Took 2 hours with plenty of stops and breaks along the way.

Great short little hike, upper trail was a touch muddy. Took 1.25 hours, and that was with plenty of stops and geocaching along the way.

Great hiking area but this is not a Jeep or off roaring trail. I live a mile away from the trail

Parking is not available in the winter. Nearest parking is 1.5 miles out from trail and snowshoes would have helped a lot. No one was on the trail and it was gorgeous.

Went hiking (no snowshoes) and was so happy to find a great hard-packed trail. Absolutely beautiful views and fairly easy trail for the first mile or two. We turned back from there, not wanting my dog to have to cross a small stream in freezing weather. Keep in mind it’s “Jeep only access” recommended for the last mile to the trailhead. A full-size truck would have been too wide and you needed ground clearance too.

Great hike. Just very busy. Lots of off leash dogs.

Super fun trail beautiful when you get to the top. We walked it but it seemed to
Be careful it is a popular bike trail.

Superb views but steep climb and slippery in winter

love this hike! one of my favorites ❤❤❤

Went during the Thanksgiving break in Nov 2017. It was snowy and icy for most of the trail. Slippery without ice grippers for soles. The trail itself is not very challenging. A couple of good views and interesting creek crossings. It was a good place to get out to.

Nice loop trail close to downtown. I was visiting a friend and she took me out. The views are good and the trail is dog friendly.
