This is the deepest spring in the state that the public can walk up to! It gets the royal blue color from how deep it is (310feet). If you put the Statue of Liberty in the blue spring she would be submerged (even the torch she holds!). That being said, there are signs staying things about the delicate ecosystem there. Do not ignore that. This place is a natural beauty and a neat opertunity to look into a deep blue abyss. Let’s not ruin that!

There are two trails to get to Blue Spring, me and my group got there from the road and parking lot.
It was pouring down rain. If you drive there and have the same experience, take it slow on the gravel road. Puddles are deceiving some holes were bigger then they looked.
Considering the weather condition, our short hike to the spring was still lovely. The river on the right flowing strong and a beautiful forest to the left that is noticeably a conservation area.
Everything was worth it. The spring was more then blue. It was full of different plant life and fish. Again, I can’t speak for the other trail but as far as driving there goes it is a must-see in my opinion!

The autumnal colors were stunning when I visited. Trail was great and relatively easy to follow. However, during our trip the multiple water crossings required getting my feet wet as the water was well over the tops of my hiking boots.

Great out and back trail. Mill and shuts ins at halfway point totally worth it! Trail is well kept. Three small creek crossings - no need to take shoes off. Hiked it with my wife in 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Quick out and back walk to look at a waterfall that consists of rocks 1.5 billion years old. That’s old!

Some of the reviews and recordings are of the .3 mile trail that is closer to the spring. The 2.9 mile trail runs along the Current River from a parking area that I had to walk to because the road was closed.

This trail is mostly level but narrow in spots by the river. There is a washout of a couple of feet where the trail has fallen into the river but the trail is still being maintained and easily passable. When this trail connects up with the .3 mile trail it becomes much better defined.

The spring has a viewing deck at the base of the cliff and stairs up the side of the cliff to another viewing deck. The highlight was an Osprey flying down the river and a Summer Tanager calling in a Sycamore above the trail.

great easy trail for kids

Nice area. Pretty fascinating when you look at it from
above. You park where it is. Not exactly a Wilderness Area, but a nice easy approach like this is nice at times and for some people.

Really beautiful spot. The road is difficult to drive so be careful. Has bathrooms at trail head. Trail flat and easy. Spring is pretty.

We hiked around but not on a specific trail. Beautiful area.

Loved this!! I went from Rocky Falls to the mill and back. Didn’t see any horses but plenty of manure. Also elk droppings. Be sure to take a pic of the flyer before heading out. Several times around the open field areas I lost the trail. The paper gives you things to look for along the way. It was so pretty.

This is my favorite spot. So peaceful. If you are quiet and pay attention on this trail you might be able to see the rocky spring wild horse herd. But I ask you to please clean up after yourself. I have seen trash at Klepzig to many times

I have been here twice. I can not get enough of this beauty.

This is an amazing hike. The trail can be confusing in a few spots but with All Trail pro edition I had no problems. The scenery was beautiful. Great views, waterfalls, and spotted the wild horses and got some photos. Ate lunch at the old mill on top of a lovely waterfall. The litchen covered rocks and crystal clear waters of rocky creek brings life to the pine forest.

This has been one of my favorite hikes in Missouri in quite some time! Rocky Falls is absolutely beautiful and the other two shut-ins are amazing as well! Klepzig Mill is unique and the fall leaves really set it off. I am happy I did this hike after we had rain this past week since I think it would have been very dry otherwise. I did have a hiccup that almost made me turn back at the point when it crosses the low water bridge and struggled to find the OT marker. I actually almost turned back, but discovered one sticker on the back of the highway marker and saw the trail just past it on the left with another OT marker on a tree. Other than that, the trail is marked well and not overgrown in any areas since it is part of the OT. Beautiful in fall!

I hiked from Rocky Fall to Klepzig and back. The directions were from Klepzig to Rocky. No where on the directions does it say to walk up the highway and around the curve then hit the logger road so I spent 25 min trying to find the OT marker around the low water bridge and then the remainder of the hour hiking through the woods and blackberry thorns trying to find the trail.
Need better directions.

Great destination hike to hit if you're in the area. The fall colors and the blue water made it more than worth the short trek. I made the trip in the mid morning and the sun was behind the cliffs. I would imagine it's even more beautiful in the afternoon with the sun on the water.

This trail has a large assortment of different Missouri terrain all in one trail. The types of rocks at rocky falls and the mill are fascinating. It is a good shortish hike. I did it in July, at the peak of summer heat and it was nice. There are many places to stop by the river and take a break to cool off if needed.

We took this trail just before sunset, its not that long, but the path isn't paved and there are some roots that make the hike less smooth than I would have liked. But, once hitting the spring it made it all worth it! Such a beautiful place. The path provides in ground trash cans which is nice, so there wasn't any trash on the trails.
