Great for kids. Nice trails.

The half-circle around the pond is paved, as is the bit reached by hopping on a few stones across the stream (waterproof shoes recommended!). A large horse farm is located by the long straight stretch, with lots of grazing horses to admire. The rest is dirt and wood chips. Nice, no trash, and the occasional informative sign about watersheds and forests. Not many people out on a cool winter afternoon, but saw 3 whitetail deer, a beaver, lots of ducks, and what appeared to be large koi fish in the pond!

I love this trail it’s great for families with smaller kids because of the paved surface but it’s still beautiful and a lot of breathtaking views of the lake lots of wildlife. My older boys ride bikes while I walk with my baby girl in her stroller so it works out great for my family.

Great walk around a lake. As a gem of a park in Columbia, it can get really busy. Still worth the gander.

It is all paved, so it's very easy. The Eastern half of the trail is scenic, following along the river. The Western half is flat, straight as an arrow, and boring. Good place for an hour walk if your schedule is sort of tight. It's also a good place to walk the dog.

When I go there, I do an out and back on the river side of the trail.

Nice stretch of paved trail along the river. Very easy and flat.

This is an easy paved trail with enough scenery. The shut-ins are very pretty. We like hiking part of the connected US Forest service trail too.

my family and I love the paved trails and the unpaved trails...just a wonderful few hours spent with family in nature!!

Nice paved trails. Has a few steep spots, but has plenty of benches for resting.

very easy paved trail right in the middle of the city. enjoy the many various gazebos, fountains and sculptures. gray park to spend the day in.

January 5 walked it with two of my sons! Beautiful sunny day, plenty of places to stop n rest lots of benches, bridges and birds

Drive 45 minutes often to this trail because it’s so beautiful and neat. Definitely recommend to everyone!!

New Years Day Hike! What a nice paved trail to start the year off with! Did all 3 trails and was an excellent way to not sit on the couch!

Not much of a hike but still nice. The castle is very cool and will visit again.

The waterfall is beautiful, and tends to only be running full after a TON of rain! This Sanctuary has amazing biodiversity and quaint trail characteristics. It is a must-see - a tranquil spot. You can still hear an occasional car or train but for the most part it is quiet especially with full foliage. Great surrounding area as well - Parkville is so cute. Really lucky to have this right next to Park Uni campus!

Beautiful views of both the lake and the quarry. If you are in the neighborhood stop by.

It’s a great workout for a straight shot, but did not like the crossing at Ambassador and 152 near Skyview. Almost got hit by a car who drove through the crossing at the light.

trail is flat, paved and along the levee unremarkable. Would suggest you do levee portion first as the return will be along the Mo. river with a couple of benches and two benches with table for 4. Nice views of the river and St Charles

paved, multi use, flat, semi boring, but gets you outside and moving

Nice short, easy walk. The trail is well maintained.
Plenty of picnic tables if you want to bring a lunch to eat. Part of the trail is paved, some crushed rock and a small portion that is just dirt. When it has rained the dirt can be a little muddy but you can easily avoid the mud. It is a short loop but still worth seeing if you are in the area. The trail starts just to the right of the building if you are facing it.

Great for beginner, also had dog with.

Nice trail for a quick walk in the woods.

Nice paved tail through the woods and along a creek. Limestone caves along the far end of the trail (fenced of for safety) provide cooling breezes on warm summer evenings. This used to be a limestone operation but is now home to bats which can be seen in the evenings. There are also unpaved trails and the trail system is being constantly improved. Easy to access with plenty of good parking. Highly recommend this trail for a quick outing.

Stopped at the monument to take a break from the roadtrip. The site is well kept and worth a visit.
The trail begins as paved surface and boardwalk that is accessible. The small loop around the pond is natural and was soft in a couple spots however the mud could easily be avoided. From the cabin past the cemetery and back to the visitor center, the trail is just gravel. Easy walking throughout the whole loop.

like walking back in time, super peaceful and quiet, much of the hike you see nothing man made. if you need to decompress walk this trail. super nice park ranger @ the visitor center, she filled us in on some stuff.

Very birdy paved city trail that runs next to a creek almost the entire length. Saw a Belted Kingfisher and Red Shouldered Hawk, among several other species.

Very nice trail. Don’t let the fact that it is paved keep you from taking it. There are lots of ups and downs and the scenery in mid-November is very nice with the ravines and creek and fallen leaves. Not at all busy on a grayish and cool morning prior to noon but others started arriving early afternoon.
