Nice walk through a county park. Features a lake & views of the river.

The trail itself was great. It started off with a challenging steep climb, too. I am unsure if it is primarily a mountain biking trail, but it was very crowded with bikers during our entire hike. We moved off the trail with passing bikes at least every fifteen minutes.

A moderately rugged trail loop. Longer than the trail is marked or mapped on All trails. A loop hike through hilly forest area. A brief section near the parking with a pretty creek. Lots of deer. A very busy trail with lots of hikers, backpackers, runners, dog walkers, bikers and signs of equestrians.

Good trail well marked. The full length of the trail was about 4 miles long with some nice streams along the way. I will hike it again.

A pleasant, easy walk that most able-bodied people could accomplish. The trail I took actually consisted of Crow's Roost Trail, Fisherman's Trail and Paw Paw Trail. It started from the loop drive near the lake, went up Paw Paw Trail through the woods, where we saw several deer, to a Mississippi River overlook on the bluffs, back down through the woods on Crow's Roost Trail to Fisherman's Trail to loop around the pretty little fishing lake and back to the car.

love the roller coaster section

Charming little walk that's as easy as pie. I did it during a weekday and it was just me and the trees. Really relaxing.

Nice dog walk with hills to keep it interesting and provide a bit of a work out. Got up close to deer who just stood and watched us walk by. Main complaints: no views and lots of mosquitos on a day after storms, so bring your bug spray.

Nice trail for running, hiking, and biking. Plenty of options to increase your mileage or cut it short.

Very nice, I do feel as though Castlewood in general is just too crowded for my taste at all times of the year and it sometimes takes away the experience for me.

Gave this one a 3 because the other trails there are better! This one had a pretty steep incline so it was a decent workout but not much to see!

Nice area to walk around the lake and a few short trails through the woods leading to a good view of the Mississippi River

Good hike - lots of side trails you can take to add to your hike to make it longer if desired

Nice trail...got off course and found myself on the Roller Coaster trail which made a 2.7 mile hike a 4 mile hike. Some good hills, single track, packed dirt and rocks, lots of roots.

on Bee Tree Lake Loop

It's not really a hike, its a stroll around the lake. Pretty, but not what I'd hoped for.

Beautiful trail. Some intense inclines

Great trail, well marked, mostly uphill, rocky down hill! Less traffic than other Castlewood Park Trails.

Easily my favorite trail in STL. Varied trail surfaces, lots of inclines and declines, and the beauty of these Woods make for a great hike. it takes me about an hour and 15 minutes to get round the entire thing but there are offshoots that allow you to lengthen or shorten as you like. It is primarily a mountain bike trail so be prepared to step off the trail as they come by.

In the summer, it gets hot and muggy back there so bring water. And it gets pretty ticky too, so don't skimp on bug spray.

For an extra bonus, pick up the Lone Wolf trail connector to go up on the bluff overlooking the Meramec River. Great views.

This trail was great. It was well-maintained for the most part. I really liked how the walking surfaces were varied—it made it more interesting (gravel, hard packed earth, wood chips, etc)

There were only a couple parts that I found to be pretty tough, but I'm very new to hiking, and not in the best shape yet. There was a really long steep hill near the beginning that just kept going and going... but I felt fantastic when I reached the summit :-)

I've hiked down to the river many times to "recharge" my batteries. I've moved away from the area but I still go back at least twice a year. I do miss being able to go there whenever I want.

Great for beginners.

Great place to walk with kids and the new playground was a hit. Be careful of the "overlook" to the left of the mansion bc once you get down the steps, the old railing has fallen down in disrepair. We will definitely go back.
