Great trail, but when we got back from our ride, my truck was broken into and my wallet and wife’s purse were stolen. (Nothing was in plain sight, I also have dark tinted windows so nothing can be seen in truck)

Very nice trail, although heavily populated in areas. Be aware if you take this trail, there are multiple runners, walkers, and bikers that use this along with families.

Great Trail

It was clean but a little boring just walking. I walked about an hour into the trail then turned around and went back. This would be fun if you went biking with friends.

Nice flat paved trail along the river. It passes through a couple of parks. I think it'd be great for a family hike with young kids with a couple of built-in playground breaks.

Pretty good train other than being a bit rundown in areas.

The first 8-9 miles starting from Springfield until you reach the far end of Willard are paved and well maintained. The trail is then crushed stone for several miles and decently maintained but then gives way to varying degrees of upkeep. Sometimes it's down to a single, very narrow dirt path. Some areas they dumped large gravel unsuitable for any kind of traffic in my opinion. Some areas the trees, shrubs and grass are overtaking the trail. Spiders and their webs stretching across the trail can be so abundant, you'll be stopping every few mintues to wipe all the spiders and webs from yourself and bike. Once freezing weather hits, the spiders will not be an issue. The last 5-6 miles are paved again.
There's plenty of shade along most of the trail with a few short open stretches with none.
Of course its pretty flat being an old rail line.
There's not much in the way of scenery, wildlife or historical sites.
There's more foot and bike traffic from Springfield through Willard due to its proximity to more populated areas and being paved. Not that it's terribly busy but If you want less traffic, avoid this section.

Katy Trail across mid Missouri to St. Louis is a premiere rails to trail adventure. All sections are worth the effort.

Definitely a good trail for biking or walking. Not so much for hiking as it is a flat terrain.

Wonderful ride that was so much fun...loved the tunnel at Rocheport.

paved trail, more of a Super Highway for Hiking. lots of Bikes. Still a great walk with shade from the heat.

Very easy, nice family place. Perfect place for a bike ride, although not too scenic.

Nice bike ride from Springfield to Willard. plenty of shade along the way.

We've hiked this trail twice in the Walnut Grove area this year. It's a pleasant hike...definitely easy and family-friendly. There's a cool wooden swing, a nice wooden bridge you can stop to eat lunch at...and plenty of great views. Much of the trail has a canopy of trees over it so it often stays cool even during the hotter months.

We love walking this, would also be a great place to ride. We have a little one with a stroller so it is a great place to go. It is a flat walk with the first 8 miles paved. It is a 32 mile walk to boliver. It is also very quiet and moderately busy.

Not too bad of a trail. It has sections that are more secluded and also ones that pass by backyards. Not the most exciting trail, but good if you're wanting something simple.

Nice easy walk/ride/run on the paved portion.

There are some really pretty sections. Portland area has high bluffs on one side and the river on the other. Then there are sections that are just farm fields on both sides. Always a nice ride though.

One of best in world. We ride lots of trails and this one is great. Hard rain washed out a few places a couple days ago and today crews were repairing them!! Very well maintained. The 240 mile trail now has several spurs that take you to most larger cities.

I ran my first marathon here! Flat flat flat !

Great trail that you can make as long as you'd like. The gravel section of the path is smooth enough for road bikes.

I walked the trailhead from Springfield to Willard. The entire trail was paved and VERY flat. It was a bit boring for hiking and seems better for biking or jogging.

Katy trail is a premier rails to trails SP. This section is one of the most scenic

Pretty unimpressed. Runs parallel to 364/Upper Bottom exit ramp so there is a LOT of road noise. I went in the early afternoon and there was little to no shade. Path is completely paved. Light foot traffic during the week days. Very short; I ended up making a right onto Upper Bottom and making a loop back through Heritage. Will most likely not go back.

I love this path. It is the friendliest path I have ever run or rode! Every person you pass says hello or smiles! And, despite mother nature, the park dept does an excellent job of keeping it usable! Just wish they had more water fountains.

This trail actually goes all the way to Bolivar. Paved and Chat depending on the area. Several historic bridges. Beautiful 35 miles of trail.

Well maintained trail. It was very clean, flat and easy to walk. Even though it was very boring the country side views were still pleasant once you got out from behind the shacks.
