This is a well maintained trail. Lots of gravel as expected in this part of Missouri so the trail drains well after rain. Thanks to everyone that maintains the trail. It looks great and has no aggressive up or downs. There seems to be confusion about the mileage.. printed map says 24 miles, Trails indicates 25 miles, our GPS recorded 27 miles, the trail is marked with mile/half mile markers, last one we passed was 26.5. We took our backpacking gear and were using this trip to gauge our maximum mileage per day. It was a surprise when we hit mile marker 24 and still had an unknown number of miles to go. The next 3 miles were a real mental challenge. So we completed the 27 mile loop in one day with our backpacking gear and realized we are no longer 18 years old..if you try this in one day get started early and take enough gear to get through the night if you need to stop. Next time we do this trail we will split it into 2 days.

We turned this into a three day hike because we wanted more time out there and it was worth it! at the 12 mile mark you can go off to the left and about .1 off trail is a great campsite with a decent little creek. it was nice and secluded great for a first night stay. when you get to Brazil creek fill up your water as there are not many options after that.

GPS tracked this exact loop around 28.25 miles.. nice hike.. not overly challenging.

Great Trails. Well maintained. They had a controlled burn last week which left a good section on the west side of the of the loop scorched. We were able to find some water on the east side but did not see a big source until Brazil Creek.

This trail is one of the weirdest I've taken. First of all there were shotgun shells all over the place. There was also a lot of trash, and a dead dog. We got a bad vibe from this place so left after walking down to the river.

Nice winter hike! A scenic lookout, but mostly trees to look at. Old growth Sycamores, tall straight Pines, twisted, bent and a lot of dead trees. the 137' climb up the stairs was hard on us and our 3 old dogs, but we all made it!

a well maintained and easy trail. Did an early February overnight camp at the spring and took the long hike out. 22.5 miles total for the loop (Ozark trail to Berryman). Relatively dull scenery that time of year but no bugs and cool air. would definitely recommend it for an easy overnight stroll.

I love this place!....I can't get enough of the campground or the trails....The only thing that makes me sad is that they've poured tons of gravel on the campsites....

I just hiked the Berryman loop for the first time. This section is a beautiful trek! It is important to note that the eastern side has no filterable water sources, so plan ahead with water. The trail is maintained and and very well marked. I had read that there were a lot of forest road intersections to be aware of, but with the reliable signage they were of no concern. I would highly recommend this loop for anyone looking for a quick weekend trip.

Nice easy trail. Has some scenic views and access to the Big River. Some pretty Little Rock bluffs. No one in the trail when we were there. Has a pretty little bridge.

I did about 13 miles in and out on the East Trail at Berryman. What a treasure tucked away in the Mark Twain National Forrest. The part of the trail I biked was not very scenic, but was very fun moderate trail.

16 miles up the west trail was extremely tough and made for a long day. That being said it was beautiful and a great experience

A really great loop on a mountain bike! The sections where the trail follow the contour of the ridges is an absolute blast to bike!

I did the Berryman trail in two days starting at the southern point and going anticlockwise around the loop. The eastern side was easier terrain though longer than the western. I had a late start and finished the first part in the dark. The map I had was wrong on the location of the campsite; when you hit the road, go left over the bridge and the campsite will be on your left about 100 meters down. Both the campsite in the north and the picnic site in the south have toilets. No water that I saw, but there's a creek at the campsite if you bring a filter. The western part of the loop has much rougher and steeper terrain. Just past the halfway point on the western side is a spring. It's not officially potable, but I topped off my water supply and was fine. If you have a filter, though use it; don't be stupid/lucky like me.
It's not the most beautiful trail I've walked; it's mostly heavily forested. But my goal was for a personal spiritual retreat, and it was perfect for that.
Be mindful of the bikers; they are fast on that trail and there's not always a clear enough line of sight/sound to hear or see them coming (or them to see you).
Took exactly 24 hours from start to finish to include the overnight sleep, a few rest stops, and a nap.

This is a nice 1.5 mile hike that offers a view of Taum Sauk Mountain Range from a scenic overlook and provides access to Big River. Went on the hike with a friend and we did not see a soul on the hike, although the trail was still snow covered. Snow hikes are the best!

I hiked this trail as a 2 day backpacking trip. I hiked 16 from berryman to brazil creek, then 8 from brazil back to berryman. All around a nice trail, great trail to put your face in and go. A little lacking in features, but a nice long meandering walk through the woods. Suprisingly few hills, with lots of switchbacks none of them were overly demanding. Equestrian use is obvious in several places, and the trail has been damadged in a few places, but reroutes around this has improved conditions. This trail looks to be great for mountain biking.
