Beautiful 60 degree day, very sunny and windy. Trail was in excellent condition. Awesome hike with lots of elevation change and some cool creek/drainage crossings.

Please note that this is not an easy trail. The sign at the trail head rates the trail as difficult. There are lots of steep inclines, rocks and fallen trees that obscure the path.

Quite the work out! Only met 2 couples at the end of the hike. Love how natural the path was... I don’t like boring paths! Not recommended if you have bad knees.

Took our dog just for the out and back portion of the trail. Trail was well maintained and clear of debris. Lots of muddy portions but it was raining so to be expected. Not a ton to stop and see along the way but a nice day hike!

Great mix of hilly and more level terrain. gets your heart rate up without being too steep.

One of my favorite places to go and experience each season in Missouri. There are plenty of birds and other animals to see while walking, the trails are taken care of and it's usually not crowded.

Relaxing with kiddos

LOTS of ticks!! It was a really great trail and a great challenge but the amount of ticks hurt my experience. I’d recommend wearing pants.

Great all around trail. A few pretty long hills that were a challenge to run up. I would definitely run this trail again.

Actually measures around 3.5 miles but is a wonderful hike. Lots of hills and a very narrow path but a wonderful workout. Lots of ticks right now, pulled off 12 during the hike. We will definitely be back.

Great trail.

Love this hike after a rain. It’s muddy but there’s water dripping in the most beautiful ways.

Easy 4 mile hike with great wildflowers, dogwoods and redbuds. Would recommend mid week visit to avoid the crowds and experience the tranquility. Will definitely revisit to see more of this park.

The map from the visitor center is well worth it.

Beautiful trail, especially after a few days of rain.

Nice little hike with some elevation, but not much in the way of views. Trail was marked with signs and easy to follow. It was a bit muddy, but nothing you can't easily maneuver around. The trail has you go clockwise, which puts the creek views near the end of the hike.

Beautiful hike. On the strenuous side of moderate. So worth it for great features. No traffic noise. Seriously quiet, except for occasional gunfire from what I hope are firing ranges (heads up for those with PTSD). Water may be a challenge in the spring. Looking forward to it.

Most of the trail is moderate but does become a bit steeper and rocky as you climb up the ridge then it levels out. The terrain changes when you get to the west section of the trail and very pretty. I advise hiking boots and if you're not in moderate condition you might find this trail a bit challenging. It's one of my favorite trails because of light traffic.

I only did a mile and turned back because I have bad ankles. The trail was pretty but not out of the ordinary from what I saw. Luckily the ground was frozen because had it been wet or damp I would have been slipping and sliding all over due to the slopes and slants.

Looks like it will be a cool trail, however far too muddy today to hike it.

This 3 mile or so hiking trail is steep in some areas, the trail is also poorly marked and I could see it being easy to get lost with more vegetation. There is a creek crossing that's slightly difficult if you do not want to get wet in cold weather, but thankfully the water was low and we walked across next to a log and crawled up a mossy area. The sandstone is pretty in the one part.

Nice little trail.

This trail is beautiful and peaceful. it seemed to be lightly traveled. The big problem is that it desperately needs more markers. We got lost at the point where the trail crosses the creek. It wasn't marked at all. Thank God for the All Trails map and GPS, otherwise, I would've backtracked all the way to the beginning.

Excellent hike for being under three miles. Beautiful terrain, ranging from heavily wooded, to glades, to creek beds, to rocky bluffs. Moderate rating due to the hilly path with lots of exposed roots and loose rocks. Highly recommend pants and even long sleeve shirt due to narrow trails with overhanging foliage, to help repel ticks, chiggers, and poison ivy.

My second and my fave of three hikes in 3 days. This place is FANTASTIC! A true gem. I spent 3 hours here on a lovely Sunday afternoon and did not even explore half of the place. Check in at the visitor center, pay your $5 and get a trail map. I drove around the loop to get a feel for the location and ended up hiking quite a bit of the Trail House Loop up to the prairie where a nice observation deck is placed in case you want to take in the view and burn one. I then went through the forest picked up the Goddard River Trail and took that up to the bluff overlook which didn't really impress as far as the view, but I double backed to the Trail House loop and took that to the Wetlands which has a boardwalk. There are lots of wildflowers which attract butterflies. I saw numerous rabbits but not the elusive bobcat I was hoping to catch. There is a pre-Civil War family cemetery plot off the Trail House loop as well as a school bus stop from the 30's. The elevation is not too strenuous and you could hike it in comfortable walking shoes as opposed to hiking boots. Traffic was minimal and the location is right off the interstate on Historic Route 66 just down the road from Six Flags. I will visit again. A real asset to the area. Enjoy!

It was nice and clean however the trial was over grown and not very well marked. Very hilly and pretty.

The hike down to the gravel bar is very nice. There are also some very nice Woodland trails. Also the wildflower garden is pretty spectacular.otherwise Overall a very nice place to hike.

Shaw Nature Reserve was my first experience with hiking and I still love coming here. You can make your hike as short or as long and as easy or difficult as you like. For this trip, I put together part of the Brush Creek Trail, Prairie Trail, Wetland Trail and part of the Wolf Run Trail for an approximately 4 mile hike. I highly recommend this location.
