Nice walk from the bluff to the old river bottom. Worth doing when in Arrow Rock. Nice SP campgrounds, nice historic buildings

Does take you to the river on an old RR trail. Arrow rock has nice historic sites, nice Visitor Center and SP campgrounds.

This short hike features several historic signs telling the story of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and explaining the importance of the River Landing to the development of Arrow Rock. The Missouri River shifted its course away from the road and landing in the early 1800s, leaving the town "high and dry."

The Lewis and Clark Trail of Discovery starts from a parking lot on River Road (also signed as 2nd Street) north of the historic town of Arrow Rock and follows a levee along the Missouri River. The trail features several interpretive signs along the way on cultural and natural history. The end of the hike features a great view of the Missouri River. The trail passes through the Jameson Island Unit of the Big Muddy National Refuge. This area was once a field for growing corn and soybeans, but was turned into the wildlife refuge after the flood of 1993.
