Trail is located in Hartman Park

Not well marked but we used the map to find the start. Walk pass the playground down the hill, pass the bench and it's on the right

We will definitely be going back during the different seasons to see how it looks

Great trail! A very peaceful walk.

Needs maintenance– spider webs obstructed almost the entire trail and grass was slightly overgrown. The trail itself was an easy walk with wooded scenery. Fun to see the buffalo and elk enclosure. Overall good Friday afternoon for us and the dog– although we got completely covered in ticks.

Got covered in ticks, not much to see till you get to the lake, and by then we had been through hundreds of spider webs, and right before then was when we had noticed we were covered in a plethora of tiny ticks. Also very overgrown in some stretches.

Very nice with hundreds of butterfly’s and easy walking !!!

Nice little spot within Lee’s summit. I’ve lived in LS for a few years but never noticed this park was here. There is a paved trail that goes around the softball fields but then a mulch nature path that goes through the woods
and up to a creek. Me and my 2 year old had fun but didn’t get to explore all of it because of the heat but we’ll definitely come back. It was pretty clean too, I did see a little trash but not as bad as other parts of the KC metro area. There’s also a playground before you get to the trails.

Lots of butterflies and wildlife. Very slippery and muddy. Path was overgrown in places and we couldn’t even see the lake.

This trail is really well maintained and has access points to fun spots to play in a river. My 3 and 5 year olds enjoyed it and could handle the short distance just fine.

A quick walk around with paths manageable for kids. Sweet views of Lake Jacomo, some natural springs and creeks. Perfect for a quick getaway.

Pretty basic and not much scenery unless you go off the path. Maybe good for young kids.

I've used this trail multiple times but it needs some maintenance for sure. A couple months ago, my dog and I got covered in seed ticks and it was a complete nightmare. Other than that, it's a great trail.

Lovely trail. Needs more attention to maintenance. Spiderwebs galore and out of control brush in some places.

Great trails but very poorly marked. Needs more signage. And maintenance of the trails could be improved

Beautiful trail. But we were all completely covered in deer/seed ticks

What is good about this trail is all the secondary trails. Just when you thought you have been on all the trails, you find a new one. September through March is the best time to go on these trails when there are not bugs or weeds on the secondary trails.

Very nice trail with moderate inclines. Well kept. Just wish the one spot they made to see the lake was cleared out so you can actually see the lake.

It was a great trail, the only thing is that when we got home we were covered in ticks!!

This is a nice hike, however it is not in south prairie lee park it is in Fleming Park

Beautiful trail. We saw lots of animals prints.

It has a cliff where you can get the best view of Lake Jacomo, but there's so many teens that will ruin your time.

This trail is perfect for family hiking .. my daughters are 9 and 13 and really enjoyed it. There are a couple of areas to sit and enjoy nature!

Fun trail to hike, if you are quiet enough there are plenty of white tail deer to see, smaller trails branch off the loop and can lead you to fun areas.

Alot more to it then just the 1.3. But this is just the loop. Great trail close to home for me

Take the directions all trails gives you to get a good hiking experience along the lake and park in the four parking spots and follow along the right side of the pond to find the trail. Very underrated spot it looks like to hit the trails for hiking or trail running. Eventually the dirt and rock trails will turn into a gravel path thats not bad and leads up to the first parking area. Not maintained at all, but I enjoyed that. Wear ling socks or pants in the summer. Will definitely be back in winter!

Trailhead: across from the buffalos on E Park you'll see a small 4 car parking lot with tiny pond right by it, park, the trail starts there.
This trail is super easy to get lost on!!
If you're wanting a remote trail run with low traffic and low maintenance this is it!! You start on a well distinguished path then there are tons of off shoots from the trails to take! Some led nowhere, but that was half the fun!

warnings: you WILL get spider webs in your face
high risk of rolling tour ankles with the narrow rocky trail
if you're running you probably will get lost
if you end up on a small gravel road, you'll be able to find another small trail that leads back into the trees!
Have fun exploring!

Monday, August 15, 2016

This a nice trail if you want a quick escape to nature and a short hike. I wish there were better views of the lake but over all good trail.

Saturday, July 23, 2016

Peaceful and the breeze off the water made it comfortable. Good trail.
