Not allowing dogs ruins this trail

Nice walk through the “woods”. Like taking dogs on new adventures!

it was a great trail just lots of spiderwebs that you would constantly run into. other than that it would be great to do again.

very cool trail to mountain bike on. lots of unique sections of the trail to tackle. very interesting old style farm equipment. one section of rock is tough for bikes though but the rest is a cake walk. if you take a right through the prairie a trail leads you to the town. go forward and its back to trail head.

Follow up edit: Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department has no record of there being a trail here. The pedestrian bridge exists only to help children safely cross the steam on their way to school, not as any part of a maintained trail system.
As others said, lots of spiders. This seems less like a hiking trail and more like a game path. It is not marked and in several places completely disappears. I'm not sure this was ever a real trail and not just a path back to some homeless encampments.

decent hike. sadly someone has vandalized some of the trees with demonic & swastika signs.

Nice trail for urban area.

terrible path. not marked. trashed. homeless shelters everywhere. more spiders than Hogwarts no joke. put off spray on if you tackle this trail and a walking stick to move webs.

nice little nature trail..saw deer turtles ..pretty cool..

Agree with last review. The spiders are out of control. Im not too creeped out by spiders but, it is obnoxious to walk into web after web. Made it 20’ into the trail and walked through about 4 webs.

Clean trail. Beautiful view. Lots of traffic.

This looks like it could be a great hike but the spiders were ridiculous today! Reminded me of Raiders Of The Lost Ark! Had to abandon trip. ☹️

Majestic elevation, not for the weary of heart.

The waterfall pictured in this listing is on the Old Kate Trail (at the same location), _not_ the Whitetail Trail.

Really fun and pretty! Nice short and well maintained. Great Sunday morning hike if you’re looking for something quick just outside the city. We saw a woodpecker at the top of a clearing. Way cool!

Will be coming back! Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!

The trail itself was beautiful and very remote. Didn't see another person the entire hike. The markers near the end were misleading and the trail was a little overgrown in parts, but so long as you have gps you'll be fine. HOWEVER, if you do this hike wear long pants and bring bug spray and definitely check for ticks afterwards. If you bring a dog, make sure they have tick protection. Throughout the hike I had to pick numerous ticks off me and thank god my dog had a Seresto collar.

Well-established trail, novice trail user appropriate. Water, shade, free parking all available at the trailhead. Perfect for a break from the urban/suburban environment without a looking drive.

Hiked this yesterday. Had no issue locating the trail head on Blue river. Trail head has a bunch of trash but five steeps onto the trail its all behind you. If you want a trail within the city where you don't run into people this is the one for you. This is my new favorite trail.

I truly enjoyed my hike there!!

Lovely and scenic little trail for a short walk. looking forward to hiking here again in the spring/summer when things green up. Many benches along the trail to stop and take in the views.

Great trail. Quite, and great for birding. Definitely will go back in the spring to see all the trees bud and the stream flow.

Beautiful short little trail. 10/10 would recommend for a nice easy walk

It’s pretty good elevation change which I love, but I kept having to consult the map. Doesn’t seem like anyone takes care of it so you’ll find yourself having a “where is the trail” moment or three. This is likely not the case in summer but there’s your Jan 2018 review.

A very nice place to go for a short hike. There are several alternative paths not shown on any maps. Very clean for being next to very busy surroundings.

Quiet little suburban trail wandering through a small creek bluffline. Packed earth, and narrow at points, heavy underbrush likely during growing season. No markings

I really enjoyed hiking there. The scenics are different such as waterfalls, rivers, bridges, and much more. I would love to go there next Spring. So beautiful and relaxing! Strongly recommended!!!

I went there few months ago. It is little tricky how to get there. Best direction is when you see Metropolitan Community College from NE Barry Road, turn left and stay on that road until you will see the park on left. I learned my lesson when I took the trail on right because it is up the hill with rough terrain. My suggestion is for you to take a trail on left, which is less difficult. What’s more? The loop is somewhat off. At last, enjoy the scenic.
