Majestic elevation, not for the weary of heart.

The waterfall pictured in this listing is on the Old Kate Trail (at the same location), _not_ the Whitetail Trail.

Really fun and pretty! Nice short and well maintained. Great Sunday morning hike if you’re looking for something quick just outside the city. We saw a woodpecker at the top of a clearing. Way cool!

Will be coming back! Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!

The trail itself was beautiful and very remote. Didn't see another person the entire hike. The markers near the end were misleading and the trail was a little overgrown in parts, but so long as you have gps you'll be fine. HOWEVER, if you do this hike wear long pants and bring bug spray and definitely check for ticks afterwards. If you bring a dog, make sure they have tick protection. Throughout the hike I had to pick numerous ticks off me and thank god my dog had a Seresto collar.

Well-established trail, novice trail user appropriate. Water, shade, free parking all available at the trailhead. Perfect for a break from the urban/suburban environment without a looking drive.

Hiked this yesterday. Had no issue locating the trail head on Blue river. Trail head has a bunch of trash but five steeps onto the trail its all behind you. If you want a trail within the city where you don't run into people this is the one for you. This is my new favorite trail.

I truly enjoyed my hike there!!

Lovely and scenic little trail for a short walk. looking forward to hiking here again in the spring/summer when things green up. Many benches along the trail to stop and take in the views.

Great trail. Quite, and great for birding. Definitely will go back in the spring to see all the trees bud and the stream flow.

Beautiful short little trail. 10/10 would recommend for a nice easy walk

It’s pretty good elevation change which I love, but I kept having to consult the map. Doesn’t seem like anyone takes care of it so you’ll find yourself having a “where is the trail” moment or three. This is likely not the case in summer but there’s your Jan 2018 review.

A very nice place to go for a short hike. There are several alternative paths not shown on any maps. Very clean for being next to very busy surroundings.

Quiet little suburban trail wandering through a small creek bluffline. Packed earth, and narrow at points, heavy underbrush likely during growing season. No markings

I really enjoyed hiking there. The scenics are different such as waterfalls, rivers, bridges, and much more. I would love to go there next Spring. So beautiful and relaxing! Strongly recommended!!!

I went there few months ago. It is little tricky how to get there. Best direction is when you see Metropolitan Community College from NE Barry Road, turn left and stay on that road until you will see the park on left. I learned my lesson when I took the trail on right because it is up the hill with rough terrain. My suggestion is for you to take a trail on left, which is less difficult. What’s more? The loop is somewhat off. At last, enjoy the scenic.

nice quiet trail in the late fall...

Beginning of the trail was fairly littered by the road, but the rest of the trail was beautiful. Wear good shoes because the trail is rocky in parts. Some of the trail was not marked well. Great hike!

One of the cooler short trails in Kansas City. Always lots of people (and kids) around so if you're looking for peace and quiet this isn't it. Nice views and well maintained.

It’s an easy hike. The waterfalls aren’t too far into the trail, so I ran into a lot of people taking family and senior photographs.

Awesome little trail in town wow a bit about it on journalGeographica ... https://journalgeographica.com/maple-woods-natural-area-d367fbb40eba

Very hilly! It was super slick & muddy a few days after the big rain we had. The trail narrows quite a bit in a few places. The trail was nice & rocky and gave me a nice work out! I don't feel bad at all about skipping the gym!

This could've been a decent trail, but it's over grown and not well marked the end. Luckily We had our gps, We almost got lost. Also there is a ton of spiders and when we were leaving we
noticed a bunch of little tiny bugs crawling all over us. I think we got them off after scrubbing ourselves till I think we got them all. Just a little bit traumatized. I would not recommend this trail!

This was a nice trail. Just be mindful of going after it rains. There are some steep spots that get really slick, but still well worth it.

Great place to go for a nice easy day of enjoying everything that nature has to offer

Lots of poison oak on the sides of the trail which is concerning when hiking with a 3 year old, but other than that it was fantastic!

Beautiful waterfall! Very scenic!

The best hiking trail in Weston Bend Park and possibly Missouri! Great views from ridge line overlooking Missouri River. Lots of mature trees and vegetation. Be careful of steep drop off along ridge.
